Today I want to tell you about the wonderful game Aery - Broken Memories. Earlier I already had to play a game from this developer - Aery - Sky Castle. That game gave me a lot of unforgettable and positive emotions, so when I saw another game of the same series, I immediately bought and installed it, and I'm ready to tell you about my impressions.
In general, the game does not differ much from its predecessor: the same simple, but at the same time, unusual and pleasant graphics. Optimization at the same level: if your computer can pull Sky Castle, then it can easily pull this game too. The gameplay has not changed either: we play as a bird that flies across beautiful maps and collects fragments of memory, simultaneously revealing the plot of this game. Speaking of landscapes: here they are at the highest level. Although the graphics in this game are quite simple, the beauty of the environment is simply mesmerizing.
Regardless of all the advantages, this game retains the main thing that was in the previous part: a slow and relaxing atmosphere that will help you relax after a hard day or just have a good time.
Summing up, I would like to say that the game is not nearly worse than its predecessor, and in some respects even surpasses it. I recommend everyone to buy! 8.9 / 10

I realize that this game is probably made by one guy, so I'm not going to comment on the faults in the gameplay or the two songs.
But one thing that was well within the abilities of the delevoper to control is the lighting. For heaven's sake, turn the bloom down! This game turns everything with a color shade brighter than a pair of blue jeans into a blinding light that leaves you squinting at your screen to make out anything. Unfortunately for you, the things you need to collect are a glowing blue item. Yeah, you're not going to see it until you are right on it.
I found myself staring at the world through the corners of the screen, because the little vignette counteracted the ridiculous bloom levels a little bit where you might be able to make out what's around you. But not even the vignette could help in the snowy mountain level.

This is a very good game and really immerses you in the story only problem is the achievements are locked and the devs are too high on whatever to see that they are locked!
So let me put it into simple words:
- Good Levels
- Good Story
- Good-ish Controls
- Garbage Achievements that are locked no matter what you do to fix it.

TLDR: It wasn't bad, but I probably won't play it again because it's not my kind of aesthetic. And there are too many issues I had with some storytelling details which were too immersion-breaking for me to fully enjoy the game.
Let me preface this by saying I had an enjoyable experience playing this game. My mistake in buying it was having preconceived ideas about the quality of game play, visuals, and music. Let me explain.
One of my favorite games to play is ABZU, which I happily play over and over again because the music and graphical storytelling are gorgeous and spectacular, in my opinion. This game is NOTHING like ABZU, in that it is a completely different way of storytelling, and it's not one of my favorites.
That being said, I think people who enjoy this kind of unique artistic design, music, and storytelling will have a memorable experience because I did, and I wasn't even a huge fan.
HOWEVER, I'm also an English nerd, and one of my biggest pet peeves is incorrect usage of grammar, typos, and unnecessary wordiness. This game is riddled with all three. Plus, it was extremely difficult trying to fly around avoiding obstacles while also attempting to read what was being said (the sound quality is not too great, as I could hear small whispers of what sounded like someone reading the words, but I couldn't make out anything concrete). I tried messing with the sound equalization, but I'll admit, I'm not very tech savvy, so it could very well be user error on my end. And I haven't been able to find any way to read the collections later, so there's no way to read the gathered thoughts outside the levels, which was quite annoying for me.
The visuals aren't bad, as I stated before, they're just not my style, so it wasn't as fun for me as it might be for someone else. Same with the music, except there were times where I was actually bopping my head to it, so I think I like the music more than the graphics.
Overall, don't do what I did and expect ABZU-level of game play, storytelling, visuals, or music, and you might just enjoy the sweet, heartwarming story beneath all the imperfections. I did. But I more than likely won't play it again. It's one of those one-time games for me, like a one-time movie or one-time book.

Being in a coma seems terrifying. I never realized it would be so overly bright and washed out.
Jokes aside, yes the game is too bright. Especially when the collectibles are the same color as the overpowering lighting so you can barely find them. The levels are pretty well made, but the lighting is a huge problem.
The controls are ok, but they would be better if you could control how fast/slow you were going. The system for flight is a unity asset called flight kit, so I doubt this game's creators will be tweaking it.
Besides that, this game has the same music problem from the last game. The exact same problem actually. The music is the same exact few songs being played like a looping playlist over the gameplay. Would love if they learned by now that they can add tracks to each level individually. Even selecting specific tracks to boost each level's atmosphere.
The UI is very minimal still, but at least the bare functions it has seem to work this time.
That's it for my review, I would definitely not recommend this game for 15$. I'd barely recommend it for the current sale price of 9$. I'd give this a thumbs up if they just fixed the brightness and put a little more effort into the music matching levels and their atmosphere.

This is one of those games where a 'mixed' recommend button would be useful. It's mostly true what the other reviewers say; mostly relaxing, mostly very nice visuals, good soundtrack.
But here are a few things they don't mention.
- You can't control the camera, other than by physically making a turn. This make finding the items you need a lot harder, but more importantly makes judging some turns almost impossibly difficult.
- If you hit anything, you are immediately sent back to the start. The levels are pretty small so that's no real hardship, but many times I found this happening over and over simply because of the camera reason above. That was pretty frustrating and totally broke the 'relaxing' feeling of the game.
- There is no control of speed. This compounds both of the problems above, and makes the game 'minimal' to the point of being just too simplistic.
- Steam achievements don't seem to be working for me.
- The narrative is quite interesting at times, but the grammar is occasionally dreadful.
- The narrative is also so quiet by default that it was only half way through the game (due to a break in the music) that I even realised there was a voice over at all.
- The menus are buggy, often overlapping into a confusing mess.
- Even with the many 'send back to the start' mechanics it's still a very short game. Under 2 hours for me, and I certainly wasn't rushing it, or finding the optimum path, and was reset back the start many times on some levels. Given this is seems overly expensive.
- Quite a few levels have such bad lighting that the glare in front of you makes it almost impossible to see anything directly ahead. This isn't lens-flare, as it happens in all directions and just doesn't behave like that would. It's just a huge amount of glow applied to whatever is in front of you (even if the sky directly ahead is obscured by mountains). The dog level is the worse for this. I had to literally fly about exclusively watching the extreme sides of the screen to get this one finished.
- Controller support is set up to just use the stick. (Shoulder buttons allow you to roll, but as far as I could tell this is just aesthetic and functionally totally useless.) Press any other button and the menu pops up. (Which for me happened quite a lot until I completely changed my grip on the controller so the buttons couldn't be accidentally pressed.)
- The ending is.. well nothing at all, really. I had to check how many levels there were in the game to make sure I'd not missed something.
So yes; it has plenty of positive points, but for the price there are just too many flaws and not enough game play for me to recommend it.

But the game is short :/

Who are you and what is your role in this world?
I don't know who is reading this review, what country he is from, what his experiences are, what his interests are, what his state of mind is right now, whether you care about anything right now.
I don't know how it works, but when I played this game I had a lot of thoughts about the eternal. Our existence in this world.
The game helps me relax and meditate at the same time, but it also saturates my thoughts with many questions.
I recommend you my friend to play it and ask yourself the question - who are you, maybe you have similar abilities as this bird?

Interesting and uncomplicated gameplay. Beautiful graphics, beautiful controls. Just for those who are tired of playing very active games where you constantly have to be attentive. I launched the game and spent almost 5 hours in it, it was the best time I have spent in days. Flying is not boring because of the abundance of locations where you can always find something new.
