The controls in this game are FUCKING TERRIBLE!!! Its not even challenging its just straight up unfair. I don't believe the developers themselves have even beaten this game let alone done it deathless.

I wanted to write a new review before the game gets delisted after revisiting the game recently and feeling like my original one was a little too harsh and had some inaccuracies. The game certainly has its problems* but when you get past some of the jank and get better acquainted with the game you find a game with excellent physics* being the most comparable to super meat boy I've seen with decently challenging levels that don't overstep the boundary of too hard or unreasonable (in my opinion, after more experience with the game) that feel amazing to speed through. I really hope this developer refines a game with these primary player physics* in the future because he's really got something going here in my opinion. *the most egregious of which being that the physics are different between controller and keyboard and the game was clearly designed with the controller physics in mind. with keyboard you take longer to build speed and tend to lose it when turning around. haven't played too much on it but it might be impossible on keyboard. Other janks: - a wall in the middle of one world 4 level is jank and requires a neutral (in terms of directional input) jump into holding away to get past - the 3 falling snow blocks in the beginning of the final level of world 3 can just decide not to drop soon enough (player sprite seems to not fully touch sometimes) rendering the player dead against their own control - obviously the way corners of tiles are handled can sort of "eat your jump" if you're not careful. key words being "if you're not careful". the issue is mainly workaroundable if you're good enough. - some achievements seem unreasonable and some seem to not unlock? - no rebindable controls - no resolution options (only one set window size and fullscreen) - cannot unpause the game on controller? think you need the mouse to. a bit weird. - obviously the visuals and music aren't the best. to some this is a dealbreaker but I think this shouldn't matter. - there is one enemy that is very strange to deal with. you can come up with consistent ways to get around them so it's more of a nitpick but it could have a more intuitive ai. - game eats a weird amount of cpu and can cause lag if you have too much other stuff open on your computer or whatever. in a simple 2d game this should not be an issue. the game must be poorly optimized. - one particular level in world 3 has noticeable frameskipping/lag compared to the rest of the game for some reason? - wigs stay permanently collected. it's a arguably a preference more than a jank but I feel like we should see them grayed out in levels and be recollectable. - moving platforms sort of hold you in place, which is fine, but on very rare occasion you can go moving fast out of nowhere so be careful. I think that's all the janks. I like the implementation of the sort of neutral walljumps vs pull away walljumps and I think they add some nice extra depth to the gameplay so I would not consider them a jank, though some may not be willing to learn how they work. I think if you release a similar game/revamped version in the future you should keep the different walljump types. I enjoy them a lot. :) - you have to let go and regrab run after spawning in or you won't be running TL;DR The game isn't perfect however what it does right it does absolutely stellar and a player that has a controller and takes the time to learn how to play will find a very fun experience, or at least, I did. I really hope you release more precision platformers in the future somehow dev. :)
