Story is kinda negligible but I found myself sucked into it a little more towards the end anyways, CG/s are great, battle punishment cg's are re-playable over and over in the loss screens, battle system involving the CG's actually blends well into the battle system itself. Overall pretty damn fun for an RPG maker game, with NG+ if you're into that sort of thing.
Music 5/10 Repeats often, but it's not like that's what you're looking for anyways
Gameplay 8/10 It's RPG maker what do you expect? It works as intended
CG's 10/10 wasn't even expecting to like these as much as I did :)
Bugs are present in that whenever I move through menus a little too quickly the game will freeze, so just make sure you save often and you won't lose too much progress, happened to me 5-6 times throughout the story

easily great game in many aspect
Story
you play as nice looking girl named Serafina, with mission of retrieving clan treasure that is lost, but you're not alone who aiming to retrieve it, you have your childhood friend to compete, you level up, you earn money, eventually obtain what you came here for. simple story for short RPG games,
good story don't need complex writing or lore deeper than Mariana bay, simple writing is enough, and the good ending is simply touching, not the great but not terrible either, you see this development in every rivalry story ever.
fun fact if you know the developer Hasoyua other games then you would notice that several of the characters on previous game also appear in this game too.
Gameplay
despite being RPG, you don't just crawl and walking around like other RPG game does, this thing is almost completely text based games, even during mission you just click to proceed and let the dice roll whether it gives you great event or screw you over hard but good thing there's no orc in here to screw you harder.
the growth of your character is quite balance, you don't need to grind hard to level your character, and with the correct setup equipment you could beat every single hurdle in this game
Graphic
what do i have to say? ask your crotch? the artist of this game, Senrabanshou, make excellent artstyle and plenty of the action really to my liking, can't complain about Serafina design, like at all
Music
credit where it dues, every single music in this game are free music from online composer, royalty free, all of them sounds nice, some sounds better. personally i like the final battle the most, really hype the situation, dev know the right music for the situation
Translation
credit to Kagura Games team, the translation of this game quite nice, tho i notice slight mistranslation here and there but it's minor that i willing to ignore completely.
FINAL SCORE
9/10, short games and nice, really recommend it to those who like short RPG games

Another enigmatic game - I've played it, beaten it, I enjoyed almost every minute of it, yet the places it falls short are what stand out the most to me. I'll start with what I have almost nothing negative to say about - the H. The CGs are top tier, the frequency is largely dictated by you - so there'll be as much as you want (though there will be a bare minimum - so if you want none at all, you're SOL), SFX, BGM, and VO are all great. My one and only complaint is that some of the angles are a little poor and a little more variety would've been greatly appreciated; but I don't find either to be particularly lacking. On a somewhat related note, I can say much the same about the UI - a little more streamlining would be great (Why is there a character select when using items, when the only PC is the MC? Why do I get forced out of the menu after using only one item [forcing you to have to go back into the menu, if you have more to do]?), but as it is those are minor irritations.
Where the game really falls short is the endgame and NG+. Near the end of the game (or shortly into endless mode) you hit a level and just... stop getting XP. The XP bar will still tell you next level at ------ xp, but even doing the most difficult mission will provide you with nothing. I will admit that I /suspect/ you have to go through at/to a higher difficulty to continue gaining XP, but I can't guarantee that - either way a notification to that effect would have been nice. This issue runs into affecting NG+; if I'm going to go through another run, I would've liked to do some power-leveling in endless before starting, as the skills are EXPENSIVE AF. I finished the game with perhaps only 20% of my skills unlocked; which the completionist in me is howling about. (It occurs to me now that I can adjust difficulty in game - if it works, I will update. UPDATE: Well, you can change your difficulty, but only in one direction - down, and only by 1 tier... so that option is singularly unhelpful unless you start off your first run on hard. There are some real boneheaded decisions going on here; -1 point for poor design choices :( .) Lastly, is the world itself... or lack thereof. While the battles are very much what you might expect out of an RPG, "exploration" is effectively down to a menu consisting of "proceed X amount of a required 'distance' at which point RNGesus will decide if you get a battle, sexually assaulted, find a potential shortcut, or get money/items", "open your menu", "something else (I can't remember atm, because I literally NEVER used it)", and "quit the mission and return to town". An actual world to explore (even in 16/32bit graphics) would've added a lot.
Despite my complaints and how prominently they feature in my mind, I'd lying if I didn't acknowledge that it is still REALLY fucking good, and the characters/story were both interesting and had enough depth that I hope there is a sequel.
7/10 (down from 8, after update)

---{ Graphics (Art) }---
☐ Text based
☐ It is unbearable to look at it for a long time.
☐ Bad
☑ Not worthy of its kind, but acceptable.
☐ Good
☐ One of the best examples of its kind
☐ It will make you forget reality.
Comment:
- The drawings of the main character and side characters are beautiful. But all other characters are shadows because they seem unnecessary.
- Locations and everything else are from the standard RPGmaker library.
- Illustrations of specific events are predictive. but they are few in number. For each case, as far as I can see, there are two, prostitute and not.
-Clothing tearing effects and enemy attacks are beautifully drawn, but they are few in number and therefore become repetitive after a while.
---{ Gameplay }---
☐ Gameplay is not in the code of this game.
☐ It is acceptable if you have a keyboard or mouse that will break.
☑ If you have played the same genre of games, it is acceptable.
☐ Playable, no new developments.
☐ Being innovative may challenge you.
☐ It's very easy if you accept the screen clutter.
Comment:
- The gameplay loop is pretty simple. "Checking the Government Office, Slums Tavern and selecting a quest
, working at the town/slums/inner district tavern, church, or arena in the slum, talk to townspeople, buying any gear or supplies you might need, exiting the town/slums/inner district and embarking on the quest." summary of the game
---{ Audio }---
☐ Turn off the sound, turn on winamp and play like that.
☐ Bad
☑ It's not too bad.
☐ Good
☐ Very good
☐ It has collectible music.
Comment:
- Serafina's music is actually quite beautiful; At least, it's not as annoying as other games of the same genre. It goes well with the game.
- Sound effects range from unusual sounds you might hear in some RPGmaker games to generic items you'll hear on a regular basis. There is nothing very remarkable in this episode.
---{ Audience }---
☐ Child
☐ Young
☑ Adult
☐ All ages.
☐ For those who remember the past.
---{ Difficulty }---
☐ Just press the button.
☑ Easy
☐ Easy to learn, hard to master.
☐ For use in intelligence
☐ Difficult, requires insufficient intelligence and skill.
☐ Dark Souls
Comment:
- There are multiple difficulty levels in the game, but the game is still easy.
---{ Continuity (Grind) }---
☐ He created it to sleep.
☑ Necessary to progress.
☐ Average.
☐ The game is based on this.
☐ A second life may be required for this.
Comment:
- To enter certain parts of the city, you need to complete tasks, defeat opponents in the arena, and receive an introduction letter. Others are leveling up.
---{ Story }---
☐ Is it a story, what is it?
☑ There is a small footnote about the story.
☐ Average
☐ Good
☐ Impressive
☐ A world living within itself.
Comment:
- Even though it seems very deep when you read the story of the game, it is just an advertisement. In short, collecting the necessary money in 80 days, receiving an introduction letter from the necessary people and entering the auction.
- There is no competition between side characters in the game. You only meet two or three times, the last time at auction.
Although events occur throughout the game that seem to turn the story into more intrigue, in the end they remain only in conversation.
- The whole story consists of "do mission, work in the bar, work in the brothel, fight in the arena". Since the progress of the story is done with buttons, the story enters a vicious circle after a certain time. Good thing there is a skip to the last day.
---{ Duration }---
☐ Tea Break duration (between 0-2 hours)
☑ Short (between 2-10 hours)
☐ Medium (between 10-30 hours)
☐ Long (30-50 hours)
☐ Lifetime
Comment:
- There is only one ending in the game, the other endings are game over. You can see them all by just playing once. There is a back button in the game.
---{ Price }---
☐ Free 8D
☑ If it's on sale
☐ If you have some extra money left
☐ Not recommended
☐ You can also throw your money out the window
---{ Errors }---
☑ I didn't hear, I didn't see.
☐ Minor bugs
☐ Can be frustrating
☐ It is certain that a patch will arrive soon.
☐ Is this a terrarium?
---{ Update (Plugin, Mods) }---
☐ There is no update, the problems remain.
☑ You need to update to play the real game.
☐ Trying to solve its problems with updates. There is still a long way to go.
☐ It improves itself with constant updates.
☐ There is a good variety of modes.
☐ There are enough add-ons for those with thick wallets.
Final Decision :
- If you find it for less than 1 dollar or for free, and if there are no other games left, get it.
NOTE:
- In the Graphics (Art) section, I decide based on the type of game and the game engine it uses.
- I'm not a game editor. That's why I won't rate it.
- Playing time may vary from person to person. I base it on the time I play.
- Not every error may occur on every computer.
- Continuity (Grind) may have different meanings depending on the game type. While action role-playing and similar games require constant continuity, open world and adventure games are only required to progress.
- I will not be writing for PC Requirements. If you are reading comments about the game, I think your system meets the requirements.

5/10, The UI is a bit messy in the sense that at times it's easy to forget how to play. The combat is simple but quite grindy. The story is pretty simple. I did get tired of playing after 2-3 times on getting on and progressing through the story.
If your into a simple game that has that grind to get stronger then this is a good game for you. Also the rewards are pretty nice but the gallery is basic and semi-hard to tell if you unlock them or not.
Basic but okay game.

I have no idea how this game is getting good reviews. It's basically just one big linear excel sheet combined with static porn images. This feels like a very cheap game. It's like a spread sheet combined with a visual novel there is basically no "game" to this video game. Extremely misleading advertising clearly lying stay away from this one.

all of the positive reviews on this game are really misleading
this game is extremely boring everything is menu bases the exploration to the hub to the fight and the combat zones are all menu based and 90%of the options are useless and it becomes very clear that there's no point to doing anything other then they tell you to (IE) all the h-events are noncon which to me is very annoying especially when im supposed to be playing a bad ass its not established that the MC is foolish or weak that make the h-events pointless especially when there's no events where you decide to join willingly
so that only leaves the missions boring and excessive the entire game i kept hoping for something new to do but i lost interest and the story was was to straight forward
Serafina and the Key to the Egg-cellent H RPG
Did that pun make you groan? I'm sure it did. Well, even if it didn't, let me start by saying that i've purchased this game years ago, as well as most of Hasoyua's other works on DLsite, and double-dipped here on Steam. Before we begin the review, know that I wholeheartedly recommend this game. Do you even need to read the rest of the review after i've said that? Probably not, but think of it as a TL:DR. As some or many of you may know, my reviews on H games tend to be incredibly scathing-- ranging from "HARD PASS" to "It's pretty bad, don't bother", so if you recognize my username, you can be surprised at my recommendation.
... Anyway, let's begin the review!
THE STORY
Serafina and the Key to the Egg takes place in a fantasy world, where the protagonist, Serafina(whom you can rename), is a True Maiden, whose task is to find the Key to the Egg, which was stolen from her village. The Key to the Egg is used to unseal the Demon Lord Ires, and it must be retrieved at all costs
Upon hearing news about a major commerce hub auctioning off the key, Serafina sets out, with an invitation/visa to stay in the city sent by her friend/rival, Ange, who also seeks to gain the Key to the Egg. The goal of the game is to extend your Visa's duration long enough to participate in the auction, which is 80 days away, then purchase it.
Pretty simple story, and definitely quite a bit different from the usual. It kind of reminds me of Kino's Journey, just... with a different, clear goal, and smut.
Parts of the story are also linked to previous Hasoyua games as well, and if you've played them, you will quickly understand the correlation and references throughout the story.
THE GAMEPLAY
The gameplay loop is pretty simple. Typically, an average "day" in-game is comprised of:
1- Checking the Government Office, Slums Tavern and selecting a quest
1a- Working at the Town/Slums/Inner District Tavern, Church, or Arena in the Slums
1b- Talk to townspeople(once for 90% of NPCs, the rest require 2-3 times)
3- Buying any gear or supplies you might need
4- Exiting the town/slums/inner district and embarking on the quest.
Once you embark on a quest, you simply need to hit "Proceed". The game will randomly generate an event from a pool of events, such as taking a break, finding an item, encountering an enemy, and other such things.
Make sure to spend at least 60% of the days alloted to you doing quests, or beat the excrement out of all the Top Fighters in the arena to get to the key point in the game.
Now, i'm not sure what the game is like without the H Content, but progressing through quests and encountering monsters means fighting, and fighting means Serafina's clothes can get torn. Serafina can also get "handled", if you know what I mean, then ultimately captured and "taken care of". Sometimes, upon capture, she might even be dragged into a Den that she needs to escape from, in a similar style to normally progressing quests.
If you get captured, it takes away from the deadline of visa extension, so take extra care not to get caught and linger too much... should you fail to extend the visa deadline, you will be thrown out of the city, sent to the slums. Should the worst case happen, Serafina would be reduced to having to rely on more... underhanded means to achieve her goal.
There are also two clear endings, and a hard mode clear ending, but i'll let you play through to read about it.
THE GRAPHICS/VISUALS
Aside from Serafina and a few other characters, the rest of the game is comprised of stock assets from RPGmaker's store, such as item icons, text windows, backgrounds, etc. Unnecessary characters are all just shadows. How much more unnecessary can they get?
Not much to say here except that Hasoyua's artist, Senra, has improved when it comes to the characters.
THE SOUND/MUSIC
The music for Serafina is actually pretty unique-- at least, I haven't heard some of the tracks from other H RPGs made using RPG Maker VX ACE, or MV, or any other common RPG creation tool.
The sound effects range from uncommon sounds you might hear in some RPGmaker games, to common assets you'll regularly hear. Nothing too striking about this section.
THE H CONTENT
It's starting to get old writing this every time, but this is probably why most of you are here reading this, right?
Let me start by saying that Senrabanshou's art has significantly improved compared to the older titles such as Lisette's Assassin Maid(The Power to Manipulate Demons, in JP), Seed of Evil, etc. Serafina still has the same-face issue, but the body isn't cut-and-paste from the previous protagonists-- as she clearly has more pronounced curves and larger breasts.
The H content mostly revolves around being "roughly handled" by either bandits or tentacles, either in battle, or on defeat. The game heavily features corruption as well, which is fantastic if you're into that.
Certain mid to late-game H Events can lead to costume changes, such as being forced to wear little to nothing, giving Serafina humongous dobonhonkeroos, or having her put into a living tentacle outfit, which, incidentally, all affect Serafina's standing pose in town and in battle-- the oversized bonhonagahoogs also reducing her speed by 40.
Anyway, If you're into:

Tentacles

Non-consensual

Clothing Damage

In-combat non-conensual

Foreplay(oral, paizuri, etc.)

Hardcore(DP, Bukkake, captivity, etc)

Lactation

Pregnancy and Birth

Then this game is absolutely for you. There's at least 20 scenes, with varied CGs, and all of them are well-illustrated, the text also being quite decent.
MY PERSONAL ENJOYMENT
Now, as biased as I am toward Serafina and the Key to the Egg, the game is not without flaw. A few encounters can be incredibly imbalanced, and it feels like you have to lose to progress, as losing gives SP to learn skills and passives. A lot of events also require Serafina to have lost her virginity, so either stick by the virgin route, or make her into a mega "farming tool".
Also, my biggest gripe with the game is the amount of menus you have to go through to actually play the game, and the repetition.
However, aside from that, there isn't much I dislike about the game-- Serafina and the Key to the Egg is an H RPG that's a head above the rest of the H RPGs on the market, standing up there with games produced by ONEONE1, Triangle!, PICOPICOSOFT, etc.
As of 3 days past writing this review(6/27/2022), i've cleared the game on Hard Mode, Virgin Clear, on a fresh save. It is possible, but if you seek to do the same, make sure you have 350,000~600,000 coins saved by the end of the game, and focus on raising your combat stats.
THE VERDICT

8.5/10 GOOD GOSH, JUST BUY IT, IT'S WORTH YOUR MONEY IF YOU'RE CULTURED.
The game is relatively short, depending on what difficulty you're playing on, and if you keep Serafina virginity or not. This does not include new game transfers/post-game continuation to get the other endings. We're talking about 6~16 hours or so if you just hold CTRL down to skip all the text and mash through battles to get the other endings. This has not changed between the JP and Steam version.
Rare is the H game that I praise, so do take this appraisal seriously.
Also, this game ticked so many of my boxes, that it was arousing to someone like me, who has been incredibly desensitized by smut and has bought hundreds of H games, and also has a dead libido. If that doesn't sell you on the game, then there is nothing that will convince you to buy this gem of an H RPG.
