Mixed feelings about this game. Workshop Support is great, but the DLC on top of a $35 price tag is not worth the price, the player base has made better improvements for this game than the devs have. That being said, the game has really weird resolution settings, and is unplayable if you accidentally click one that isn't your monitors resolution, the game just breaks and requires a reinstall. The gameplay can get a little boring over time, and I really recommend playing with mods. Overall, if you can pick this up on sale, do so. It has quite a bit replayability, but not a lot. I feel like continued support from the devs could have made this game great, but as it stands, it is just good.

Democracy 4 is a fun and complex game. I think it does a good job displaying political power and how decisions can change a trillion realities at once.

Played France. Damn socialists control everything. No private economy. Still losing money. Started by cutting everything i could find. Ended up losing the election first three times. Decided this time to remove all limits on tobacco consumption while doing everything else the same. Won election by a landslide. 10/10 realistic French experience.

Played the game on and off over time, is a good entry into the series. Would recommend the purchase, it has little easter egg jokes and the issues in game are representative of real life ones.

I actually really like this game but, unfortunately it doesn't seem to like my PC mouse and is therefore completely unplayable. I got it working for a while but now ever time I launch it, bingo, no mouse.

Too expensive for what it is and a lot of the cause & effect makes very little sense - Why are the only contributing factors to environmental protests the state of the environment and how many environmentalists there are? Surely if Environmentalists are happy with my government they would be significantly less inclined to protest it? - meaning otherwise seemingly pointless policies need to be put in place like tear gas, water cannons, etc. that tank approval for literally no reason. There's also too few positive situations and/or goals to achieve, which wouldn't be a huge deal if not for the fact that this being a simulation of democracy means there's no real endgame, it means a lot of the time unless you have something in mind to work towards there's not much impetus to play for very long at a time, no carrot on the end of the proverbial stick to keep encouraging you to work towards achieving it. Worth a play if you see it at a significant discount during a sale, otherwise I would give it a miss.

>Take office in UK >Reduce poverty >Grow the economy majorly >Balance the books, for the first since WW2 we're running a fiscal surplus >Have a majorly positive effect on the country >Get voted out "This games too hard, imma play USA" >Take office in the USA >Spend years running the country into the ground >Yeah I don't know how to play this game, just press buttons >Cause every fucking crisis >Election coming up, I don't even realise so I don't campaign >Re-elected with a landslide 10/10

Great game for people like me, who are chronically addicted to politics (it's not healthy). The game is definitely an improvement over Democracy 3. The UI, mod support and policy balance is improved. But the same old problem remains any politics addict with a strong ideological alingment. The game as a lib-left bend (although not as pronounced as in Democracy 4). Depending on your personal view, this might be a good or a bad thing. The game is harder with a free-market approach, although this can be balanced through mods. The game offers a lot of different countries to play in, but has a very american perspective on policy. I find myself resorting to my preferred political playstyle of free-market capitalism, but you can go ahead and experiment. I highly recommend this game.
