Its frustating at times, but when it clicks its really fun watching your actions just snap into place in the timeline. Shame its getting delisted.

John Wick Hex accomplishes exactly what it sets out to do — it’s a unique, tactical take on the John Wick universe, and I love it for that. The gameplay is unlike anything else out there, blending strategy and action in a way that feels both thoughtful and intense. I’d absolutely love to see a sequel, maybe titled John Wick Octa, set after the events of this game. That said, I do think the animations could be more polished, and it would’ve been great to unlock and choose different suits as you progress through the game. Still, it’s a very good strategy game that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a great little game. Not super long unless you want to go into getting all the trophies, but worth the price nonetheless given the low cost. Sad to see it getitng delisted, so get it while you can

This is how you translate John Wick into a game. Tactics game in a novel real-time-with-pause system based upon second-by-second actions. I heard Mike Bithell on a podcast explain that whilst showing the game to stunt coordinators they loved the game for capturing the choreography of action scenes. But fans were perplexed, and wanted / expected a third person action game. Those fans are wrong. The fantasy of John Wick cannot be translated into a real-time action game. Players cannot expect to have the speed of decision of John Wick in a real-time action game. The fantasy of "thinking and acting like John Wick" is achieved by giving players the space of possibilities, time to think that only this kind of tactics game can provide, The art of John Wick; the tight, exceptional choreography of the action are all about incredibly precise movements and timing. Each half-second matters. The novel real-time-with-pause system that makes use of hybridised turn-based UI and options is perfect for this. Each half-second matters; really matters in the way that it would not in a real time action game. In terms of translating both the fantasy and the art of John Wick into a game, Mike Bithell and his team team nailed it.

You play as the legendary assassin, but every movement, every shot, and every dodge costs precious seconds on a timeline. It’s not a run-and-gun shooter; it’s a tactical puzzle, where planning ahead is just as deadly as pulling the trigger. No Keanu Voice: Missing Keanu Reeves’ voice or likeness may feel like a missed opportunity for fans.
