The Lack of Documentation and no response from Steam Posts made me refund this Engine. The "Community" around this Engine must be a very small and closed group. Even finding the Shooter Example was impossible and nobody answered my questions. So that's a refund. Also, there are some things about the Engine that took my Motivation away, like a terrible Player Controler, Very limited Post Processing Effects, Scaling of assets is tedious, very Beginner unfriendly. I really wanted to try this but I dont wanna sink in 100s of hours when I can see at the start already that a Project will fall appart during the process of making it.

Quite simply, this engine is amazing. Performance is really as great as claimed. I am shocked by how well the rendering looks, while running as good as it does. My only qualm is the abundance of temporal effects, which can get into that "fuzzy/blurry" look that plagues Unreal's rendering that I dislike. However, since these are just included default post-processing effects and you can just easily create your own, or modify them, this is really a non-issue. (Still, worth mentioning for more novice users who aren't able or willing to dabble into shader code.) In terms of actually creating a game, this is engine really nails a perfect balance of ease-of-use, while still being extremely capable. It is very easy to get the basics of a project going; making a camera, creating a player controller, making it able to run and jump around the level, but unlike some other contemporary "easy game engines", you aren't going to run into a ceiling or some hard-coded nonsense at some point. You can go from making a simple walking simulator test game, all the way to the next multiplayer arena FPS with some novel innovative mechanics. (Well, you "can", doesn't mean you "will", hah.) And, updates for this engine are consistently frequent and amazing. New, huge features just appear with little fanfare (in a good way). "Some bugs fixed, some improvements, and oh, surprise, projected decal rendering with full PBR textures." I am shocked this is a solo project; I've seen entire teams do less with more resources. Now then, the community is currently a bit small; not a lot of tutorial materials, example content, or any kind of marketplace-type resources just yet. However, this is something currently being looked at; there are more tutorial videos coming, and more example projects in the works. And while the community is small and tight-knit, they are extremely kind and very helpful, and very smart people too. And hey, they are working on a game in this engine; SCP: Redacted, which so far looks incredible and the engine developer himself is working on it, so you know it will be a perfect example to show what can be done! And hopefully, any engine features they add to support SCP:R development will trickle down to us users. Seriously, I cannot recommend this software enough. If you're looking for something that runs like butter, something that looks great visually, something that is easy-to-use yet still remains flexible and capable, something that is royalty-free to give you legal/financial peace-of-mind for your next big indie project, or a combination of any of those things, give Ultra Engine a look.
