Of course Ballsy would be a gem! The developer is Baz! Search for Gameplay Football to see for your self what this guy can do all by himself. As for Ballsy: Instant buy from me. Unique soccer based game with many essentials present like momentum and good AI Easy to pick up and play, hard to master. Of course i recommend it. Well done again Baz. Hoping for future updates.

Absolute scam, it is impossible to score a goal and unfun and generic, probably student project which shouldn't be released on Steam

Fun little arcade soccer game. Reminds me of something retro like the original fifa for the sega genesis or something like sensible soccer but has some nice tight controls that make it fun. Liked the AI and felt the teams had their own personality in their style of play. I play short little games to just take my mind of things. World cup is short and sweet, maybe making this game online would give it more longevity. But I would recommend for any soccer/football fans that like that arcade feel (no fouls or throw-ins keep the action going).

This is a small, polished football game that has a clear focus on fun, and succeeds right out of the gate. While most modern football games strive for more and more realism, Ballsy! goes the complete opposite way and throws out anything that would detract from the fun for realism's sake - and I'm very thankful for that. This commitment is visible throughout the whole gameplay design: Matches are played by teams of 7 players on a field with no side-lines (similar to indoor soccer), no offside rule and no referee - resulting in an uninterrupted gameplay flow until a goal is scored. Menus are responsive and fast, there's no loading screens and no unskippable intros, so getting into a game is a matter of seconds. The content is similarly lean, with 30+ national teams of varying football skill, but no player names (I'm not even sure if there's skill differences between the players). The two game modes are either a friendly, or the World Cup where a team progresses in knock-out phases towards the final. The simplicity is also reflected in the graphics, which is a throwback to older, arcade games (but runs so much smoother). The big plus of the game is, of course, its gameplay. Controls are tight and fast to pick-up, yet take some time to master - but thankfully not because of their complexity (they have been trimmed down to only the core actions). There's not too many parameters like in modern football sims, but anything that's there is configurable. The AI is surprisingly well-made, both the opponent's and the one controlling the other members of the team that are off-ball. The opponent AI especially offers a decent challenge, with five different difficulty levels. All these aspects make for a very fun, fast-paced arcadey game, with virtually no down-time. In more "realistic" football games I am met with constant small segments of downtime - intro, game loading, foul, players reacting, replay, substitution, and that's without all the gameplay-related downtime where possession of the ball changes much more slowly. Ballsy has none of that. And while commitment to realism and technical progress is admirable, I'm very happy that there's also games like this one that do away with all the cruft and focus on being a fun game without trying to also be a good simulation. Technically, the game runs very smooth. I didn't notice any bugs, glitches or framerate slowdown whatsoever on Linux, even on a weaker machine. It gives a concentrated and polished impression - it knows what it wants to do, focuses on it and does it well. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced, fun football game and doesn't mind the lack of realism.

Surprising little gem this one, lots of fun with friends & family. A good one to have in your library for having a laugh together. Runs flawlessly on Linux, with multiple controllers.

Many arcade games use the phrase "easy to peak, hard to master" but this one do exactly this. AI is great and very challenging. Great passing game, great inertia on players. Baz you did it again! Thank you for this great game which based mainly on something that really matters. Gameplay. I wish you made an update in the future with clubs and Career mode. When you watch videos on YouTube you can't see what this game is able to offer. Definitely I recommend it!

Wow, I am really impressed by this game. Although this ist only a little arcade soccer game with the dream to create sometime a big soccer simulation, the AI is already very challenging and strong. I hope that the dream of a big soccer game will become true. This developer knows how to make a soccer game! And on the top of it all, this game has native Linux support! To cut a long story short: This game is phantastic! Please keep developing it!

Great little footy game, enjoyed it so much so far. If you are fan of Amiga's or C64 football games, retro look will warm your heart. Ballsy! plays smooth and after recent update, without any issues on Linux. I highly recommend this game.

Edit after some more matches: it's still top notch. Here is a video for you who are on the fence. I'm playing with total zoom out and on hard difficulty. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zD9N6eM9U0&ab_channel=S%C3%A9rgioFl%C3%A1vioMCF The wait is over: I've finally found the soccer game I was looking for -- and in the least likely of places. Do not be fooled by the Sega Master System visuals or the very minimalistic presentation. This game is tough and addictive, because it has an almost perfect AI. Try to play against hard or progamer difficulty and you will understand what I mean. An intense and fair challenge, something the mainstream franchises fail to achieve (if they're even trying) year after year. More than that, the gameplay mechanics are strongly based on physics; inertia makes one-on-one duels really interesting and clever. If you're defending and keep pressing the run button, AI will easily drible you and have the open path to score. If you're attacking, you have to exchange passes to keep the ball possession and cautiously gain terrain until the opportunity to reach the net shows up. That's the essence of football captured by a humble indie game. Amazing. If you're looking for real life graphics and licenses, you know where to find. But if your thing is gameplay, pure and simple, forget FIFA and PES: this is, surprinsingly, the real deal. I hope the devs keep improving the game with new features, or even create an evolved sequel. Fingers crossed.

Great little game, another one of the 'easy to pick up, hard to master' type with enough difficulty to make it a challenge. Limited options, but it's a great time filler.
