SOK PRO is a lazy, unabashed ripoff of the free 1990's Adobe Flash game, Sokoban. Like, it's even in the name that this is a ripoff. So, does this ripoff offer anything new that might make PC gamers in 2023 want to abandon modernisim and return to browser games? Hell, no.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.
The game features extremely lazy, minimalist "art", of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is often used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs.
The very poor quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2023 (and this was released not so far back in 2018), gamers and the industry expect and deserve better than this kind of low effort shovelware.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
SOK PRO is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
Note: Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. Until this status changes, this game will not count towards your Game Collector counts, achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in any profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
SOK series for puzzle fans
Sokoban games are great for people who like puzzles and logic games.
You need to move all the boxes to their destination.
Some levels are easy, but some of them are pretty hard.
☑️ Fun
☑️ Good time killer
☑️ Achievements
❌ Leaderboards loading times and minor bugs

Do you like Sokoban games?
No?
Then move along there's nothing for you here!
If you do like it then this game is for you!
Don't know what Sokoban is?
Let me illustrate it for you this way:
Pretend you are a roadie for a band and you are tasked with moving all the boxes full of the bands gear.
Under Union rules you are not allowed to pick any of these boxes up.
You also suffer from selective amnesia causing you to forget how to pull objects towards you.
Thus you can only push them away from you.
btw the rest of the roadie crew are too lazy to help so you're doing this all on your own.
Also the band is very picky and don't want those boxes placed just anywhere.
Will they tell you where they want them by politely letting you know?
No! ... No they wont.
You are merely the hired worker and they don't have time to treat you like a decent human.
Instead they rudely place tape on the floor in the shape of a square.
Your reward for successfully completing the task?
You get to do it all over again at the next venue.
It is fun though and I highly suggest buying it. It's on sale at the moment for less than $1
LESS THAN ONE DOLLAR!!!!

Finally, the Dark theme was added to the Sok series!
To be honest, this game is no different from previous versions of the serie and there were even many repetitive stages in it!
Compared to previous versions, no special features and mechanisms have been added to the game, and its level is exactly the same as previous games, and as I said, the only positive thing about this game is that it has a dark theme.
Overall, I don't think it worth buying, but if you want to buy the full series of games, not bad. tolerable.
