Shoot 'em knives. That's how you get past the pink WOKE, whatever that is. I can't help but be dissapointed because it took me 40 minutes to figure out. That and play this with anything othe than a mouse. Frankly if you play this with a gamepad, I fell sorry for you, and also for me at 5 minutes in the game. Now I am finally in the second level, after trying stupidly to hit the pink WOKE vs hitting the knives that pink WOKE was hurling. Deep breath. This is a really nice shooter that doesn't take itself too seriously. Like westerns? Play this. The cartoons are so stylish that look more to painted targets in a shooting range rather than actual humans. So if you don't wanna shoot at people, which is completerly understandable, think of them as paper targets. Having said that, the mechanics there, aka "hitting the knife also hurts the knife thrower, so you don't need to shoot at the knife thrower, just the knife" are very arcadey, so actually don't take this too seriously. Just shooty fun at painted cards in a shooting range. Or outside a circus. No need to reload guns or reframe paper targets. Just fun, fun, fun. Especially when you get to shoot at the pink WOKE... DON'T. JUST SHOOT AT THE KNIVES HE THROWS. REALLY. THIS KEPT ME IN THE FIRST LEVEL FOR 40 MINUTES.
SUMMARY
"Wild Baffo", more like "Wildly Baffled". This railshooter is a western-themed shooting gallery. Enemies are designed to look like cartoonish cutouts, the environments are somewhat interactable, and the music levels are stereotypically on point. Where it fails is in the details, unfortunately. The gameplay has a few neat little features, such as shooting the knives of enemies and it goes right back at them, killing them, or shooting the bottles of alcohol thrown at you, stunning enemies in a radius where you shot it. Unfortunately that's about as involved as it gets. There's no reload mechanic, there's no alternate weapons, the levels are short and end up recycling themselves when you get to the bosses... Which, speaking of the bosses, that is my biggest peeve with the game. It's not enough that they move and shoot faster and faster as you damage them, but their healthbar is fucking huge. So much so, my finger actually began to get fatigued from how much I was clicking on him. Sorry, but I'm not straining myself to beat a "Wild Baffo" boss. On top of this, the premise of the story is eye-rollingly stupid. You're in search of a moustache to be a real gunslinger...Wow...Lock this game up and throw away the key, please. This is the worlds best game. So much good life advice too. For example, if I knew the best way to get a cooler gun is to shoot a weird hat guy 10 times, I would have finished that time travel machine by now and beat John Wilkes Booth to the punch.
