This game has interesting story and many puzzles. In particular, 3 match is pretty hard but if you use the blocks and gimmicks in the right time and place, you will clear the game more easily. I think the game speed is little bit slow... However, on the other hand, it gives us time to enjoy beautiful art in the fantasy world and well made music which are matched well.

Came for the story and stayed for the puzzles. I recommend this game if you are into stories & lore and match 3 games. I really like it when a developer experiments with game genres. Most aren't always executed well, but this is a competent game that was worth my time and dollars, and maybe yours. There are also a couple of other puzzle types in this game such as shadow puzzles (which I've never encountered before) and 2048. My game genre of choice are ARPGs, looter shooters, and horror games. I am a closet puzzle gamer. I don't know if I will keep this review up, but I am for the time being in the hopes that Rocco's Island will get some notice. I arrived early onto this game while it was still in development. What drew me to it was that it was a story driven game, with puzzle, mechanics, that also proclaimed it gave a sense of adventure. I was already curious to see how a game could put all these things together. My interest was more into the story and puzzle aspect of the game description. Lore hunting is a favorite past time of mine and Rocco's Island has more than enough. In fact, I like the premise and world building so much it'd be great to see this get picked up for an animation deal or something. I would be stoked to see that happen. The art suits the game well, and the progression is executed well (ESPECIALLY, with the new 1.1.0 story mode update). The puzzle game balance was challenging, but now only starting from Normal mode. If you are a simple lore hunter do the story mode. If you want a challenge move up to Normal mode. I like how the developer put a lot of faith in us. There isn't a lot of hand holding. Personally, I hate games that have long tutorials and have a lot of hand holding. I like to find out things for myself. For me that's also part of the puzzle of a puzzle game. That is part of the adventure. Story, check. Puzzles, check. Adventure, yes, there is definitely a sense of wonder and adventure in this game. It's not a small or short game either. I clocked in at around 9hrs of play each playthrough, 4 in total. I spent some more time here and there just for achievement and item hunting. It was worth the wait, and worth giving feedback to the devs. Thanks for picking up some of my quirky requests. Other than Souls games I don't think I've been so attached to a game on Steam. Gotta thank GabeN for that, as I'm more of a console gamer and Steam Deck is changing how I play games. Plz make this available for Steam Deck when you get a dev kit to port. Anyway, good job. Like it a lot. I hope to see Evelyn's journey continue. Btw, who is the blue haired girl. What's her name? Did she sabotage Evelyn? What's going on? See, more story. Cheers.

The art, lore and protagonist are adorable in my opinion, though the i believe the puzzles didn't bring anything new to the table, and the repetitive sound of the characters in their dialogue is really annoying especially that i don't read quickly , i played the game for the protagonists art but the game play left a lot to be desired , keep in mind that i haven't completed the game yet, i wish the best for the developers and i absolutely believe they have the potential. <3

Graphics gives a dreamy feeling and music is really comfortable. It's a light game, but with a strange charm. The puzzle game seemed easy and simple, but it was fun. If you are tired of complicated and hectic games, I recommend this game.

Adorable adventure/ puzzle game. The art and story are unique and delightful. It completely captured my attention for hours. The game is simple. Follow the road, solve puzzles , meet character and dig up the story. The puzzles are well done. (Sometimes it’s hard..but ok) Also music was mesmerizing and enthralling. I love it. Recommended.

On 0.9,0, Rocco's Island has arrived at new dimension. Characters goes much more attractive, Story goes more dramatic, and I got extraordinary ending (what you must see) on this version! Play this game, not to waste your life. --- previous review --- In short: I highly recommend this game for both puzzle lover and adventure lover. Actually I am match-3-holic, but in mobile game industry there are only boring games which makes me play annoying puzzle stage again and again without any motivation. But this game is different. There are adventure, many attractive characters, lovely (but still annoying, that's okay ;)) puzzles, and so on! Why other game developers did not make the game like this? This can be the reason because the game is in early access period, but I slightly feel this game is not complete yet. but I believe that developers will do hard for this, and I cannot wait adventure toward blocked area!

I've seen hundreds of 3 match puzzle games so far, many of which are mostly similar and plain. but this one is quite different from those I'vvveeeee played. I was wondering how 3 match puzzle game fits into the story based adventure. The 3 match game itself, it wasn't like that challenging, or very sophisticated, but it's very well balanced, which made me want to play again and again without having to get super bored and tired. And it is well connected with the main adventure game (using items I got from adventure game play/ Gates closed I already opened when i failed)-this was an obviously new experience. and I can sense the trace of efforts put into matching effects, which were so marvelous. Another thing is characters. they were just drawing me to the top of the icy mountain without a rest. I kept walking wondering what kind of interesting creatures would appear next. it was quite an exotic experience. but there are a couple of things i am not satisfied with about this game. 1. I sometimes found myself lost in the middle of nowhere on the map, which annoyed me a lot. 2. in some areas, mouse control wasn't working properly. (these two dragged my time unnecessarily during the play). 3. a few bugs in movement of the characters 4. the first experience was a little bit boring When next updated (hopefully very sooooon), these problems would be completely solved. if you want another kind of 3 match puzzle game, this one is worth playing.

The art is pretty, HOWEVER, the character walks PAINFULLY slow, and there is no way to speed it up, so sometimes it takes FOREVER to get to your next destination. When I would fail a puzzle and the stones would light up again, needing to be redone, it was infuriating having to wait for the character to go back. There is no option to zoom out of where you are either, so sometimes I would take the incorrect path just because I was not able to zoom out and see where I needed to go, and the actual map is all but useless. I also did not like that I was able to get to the end portion without even starting one entire section, and you cannot go back. The "puzzles" were repetitive and tedious. Don't get me started on the amount of dialogue either, and how you cannot skip ANY of it. I play almost exclusively point-click/adventure/puzzle games, and this one has a myriad of frustrating things in it for me personally. Let me run! Let me see where I need to go! Let me skip dialogue when I don't want to be forced to care about it! I do not feel like this game was worth the price AT ALL. Don't waste your money.

I like the art direction. In actuality I bought this game because after hovering around the trailer and the OST, I came to conclusion the game might be something I enjoy. And I admit, I initially enjoying this game. You play as a girl, washed up on some strange shore and because of some little mishap, You end up have to save the world and restore the harmony of the 4 elements (Yeah, Sound very familiar doesn't it :P ?) Mainly you are to traverse around the island, solving the puzzle to progress, This is where my "NO" point coming in, But we'll get to that later. At this moment of review, There are type of puzzle you'll get to play: - 3 tiles match, You know the deal, Moving tile to match the least 3 tiles and so on. The main goal is to breaking the tiles on designate area which would be the count down tile, You must match 3 tiles on designate area less than the provided limited movement, The puzzle is alright, And this is probably the kind of puzzle you met the most on this game. - Riddle, Answer the riddle and watching a little flashback with nice animation, I don't mind this at all. - Numeral summation, Moving the tiles with same numeral summation until it reaching the designate amount of number, Not that hard to play and quite very enjoyable too. - There are probably more puzzles I've yet to discover. The REAL problem on these however is when you failed the puzzle. The game has a countdown time kill switch, Each time you failed the puzzle, You got -1 on this countdown, Hitting zero and its games over. Now normally this shouldn't be a problem, In fact, Its a little challenge to not let you spam the puzzle to the end game, But the annoying part is that: - The puzzles (especially 3 tiles match) are very easy to failed, Provide you know how 3 tiles match game work, They are purely random and its about chance of which you can matches coupling with that you have to matching the tile under condition of designate tiles, You can failed the puzzle very easily. - If you are playing a game where "decision" or "outcome" matter, Admit it, You might already force quit to main window if you knew you have been f..k up on that part and redoing things over without consequence. Well, Tough luck. This game is so determine on not letting you do that. The moment you start the puzzle, You are using the count down. Whether you failed the puzzle earnestly or force quit the game, You are already forfeit the puzzle and failed it anyway. I'm not very sure what is this game aiming for, Really? If its aimed for good puzzle, It failed. If its aimed for story telling, Well, If the story got locked behind these not so good puzzles, Then I don't think I can get to that story telling part now ain't I?
