Redefining a Genre - In the Best Way My playtime 35.7 hours I role-played, I adventured, I platformed, and I made choices that mattered. I took time to get into it eventually finding myself immersed in a game that is unlike anything I've ever played, and I've played A LOT of games. I was expecting a run, jump, die simulator but instead found a carefully thought-out tale wrapped in a game which did require perseverance at times, but of a nature that made the reward of completing levels/caves all the more sweeter. Characters in-game really grew on me which got me to thinking about relationships I have in real life, and was very pleased when the final outcome of the game properly defined what it truly means to be a hero. I'll enjoy replaying this one and finishing up a few threads that I left untied. 6 of 5 must play. 5 of 5 great story great game-play. 4 of 5 great story average game-play. 3 of 5 average story great game-play. 2 of 5 give it a go if it's you're favourite genre. 1 of 5 play if you have nothing better to do, 0 of 5 play if you're a masochist. -1 of 5 avoid. Billy Saves the World score is 6 of 5.

Early review, will return to update, but it's already giving me what I hoped it would. The writing is somehow both silly and grounded, goofy and smart. BSTW pulls off a bit of a magic trick by reminding me of the games I loved from my childhood (the ones I feel like they don't make anymore) while embracing fresh narratives and a play-how-you-want approach that offers surprising depth as either an RPG or a platformer. Regarding the latter, the game controls are really tight, which is crucial for a game like this (I can already picture speed-runners all over this game). Genuinely excited to see how it plays out in the end for Billy. So far, defs worth your time and attention.

Despite what my playtime shows -- I'm a bit of a Steam noob and had trouble connecting a Playstation controller to it -- I played about 30 minutes of this stylistic platformer that is heavy on humour and pop culture references that will please any gamer of a certain age. Gameplay wise for the action sequences, it took me a bit of trial and error to initially get familiar with the gravity of the jumps. I relied on a slide/jump combo to make my way across treacherous gaps. Where the game shines is in its crazy storylines and adventure-style choice of dialogue and inventory management, similar to the Monkey Island series or Day of the Tentacle. I've only just branched off into open-world territory, so there's plenty more for me to do, but I wanted to give my initial impressions. I'm definitely digging the style of art style, music, and comedy!

The game is very easy to play and enjoy. Pacing and mechanics are smooth from the start and I never felt lost. I think the story and dialogue options are also quite. Planning to come back to this game and play further into it later.

I've only played about a half hour so I suppose this may be a little premature. The game has some quirky lines to it that I genuinely enjoyed. However, the quality of the UI lacks in places and the introductory gameplay is a little lacking. My biggest gripe of all is that there is just too much dialogue in the early going. It needs to be cut in about half. I also just want a little more JUICE in the SFX and VFX department.

Billy Saves the World delivers a heartwarming and humorous adventure story about an unlikely hero on a quest to save the world. The witty dialogue keeps makes me laugh and I love all the pop culture references hidden slyly throughout. Visually, the game shines with its vibrant, cartoonish art style and beautifully crafted environments, each brimming with personality. Also, the soundtrack is sweet. Super fun to play!

Having so much fun playing this game! Super impressed with how deep this game goes and also has made me LOL a bunch of times. I feel like you could play it 1000 times and things would go differently each time based on all the decisions you can make. Loving the RPG elements, crafting, and so many side quests!! Extremely good value for the price in my opinion, 100% would recommend.

**FIRST IMPRESSIONS** So far I'm loving this game. It's such a unique mix of platforming and classic LucasArts style adventure games. The cool thing is that it seems like you can advance through the game using either approach, which is nice if you tend to like puzzles over platforming. I'm still in the early areas, but was pleasantly surprised by how the game opens up almost immediately. You can travel to a lot of different areas of the world as soon as you get your first quest, even to the point of ignoring the quest altogether and finding something else that interested me. It certainly feels like it's living up to its promise of being able to play your way so far. I've gone through a few of the caves which are surprisingly challenging. I definitely have to remember to bring more healing potions. Luckily, controls are tight and the respawn time is almost instant so I can get right back into my next attempt. Every character I've come across is hilarious and weird and the writing is consistently surprising. It's meta and self-aware at times, and also really creates some instantly memorable characters. Bleep and Bloop are my early favourites as classic Space Invaders. There's a ton of pop culture references littered throughout too which feel like fun easter eggs. Early impressions are great! Definitely worth your time.
