Note: I completed the entire game in about 30 minutes, and spent another 30 minutes to obtain all the achievements. As with all visual novels, your mileage will vary depending on your reading speed. The Light At The End Of The Ocean is a short visual novel that explores a light mystery about a shipwreck survivor. The surface story has enough depth to be entertaining and not obvious while still wearing its narrative themes like a neon pink shirt. As a short experience, this visual novel offers enough substance to be worth a look if you are seeking a quick easy story that is still sufficiently poignant to exist in-between the gap of deep introspection and turning your brain completely off. Pros: * A cute and surprisingly intricate art style that services and meshes well with the narrative. The artist/writer put time and thought into designing their characters art and it shows. * A simple standard and functional interface that should be familiar to anyone who has ever read a visual novel. * A short, well-paced story that lasts long enough to tell its tale without overstaying its welcome. * Good transitions between scenes. I was especially impressed with a specific fade transition between daytime and night, especially for a project of this scale. Cons: * Although the narrative is short by design, this visual novel would probably have benefited from an additional structural alternative ending that doesn't fork only at the conclusion. As designed, there is one "bad" ending, one "good" ending that requires a specific choice combination, and one fork from the "bad" ending that only requires a single choice variation and is not particularly influenced by the plot and still uses the same story path. An additional plot-based ending that forked from the current linear narrative somewhere before the end would have provided some needed depth to make the story not completely linear. The Light At The End Of The Ocean fulfills its role as a short but enjoyable visual novel. This is not a work you would pickup to spend half of or a full day engrossed in exploring, however as an after work or after school experience to unwind to this VN is a good choice. I would also struggle to recommend this VN at its full price given its length, however at a discounted price the experience is well-worth the cost. Score: 7/10 -> Cute, quick, and straight-forward visual novel to enjoy

I didn't read anything ahead of time of what this was about so while surprisingly (but not disappointingly) dark, I really enjoyed it. Took me about an hour and a half to beat, and another 30 minutes to skip through to get the good ending.

A beautiful yuri story full of rainy melancholy. Well, the ending is satisfying! It's sad to see this game is so low in popularity. Please give it a chance!

A short, well-written visual novel with multiple routes and interesting characters. Good for a rainy afternoon or a cozy evening.
