PROJECT : KNIGHT™ Reviews
In my dream i saw that island... I'm now there and there is no turning back... A lonely knight on a deadly island... This game is a short real time combat collectathon with a cartoony looks in the style of zelda and dark souls where you have to collect golden coins to progress through 6 biomes...

Project: Knight is an Action Rpg made using Smile Game Builder (SGB). It was released in 2020, Developed by Wathitdew Records (LilBen) and Published by Wathitdew Record, Elushis Music & Gaming.
STORY: 14/20
A knight keeps dreaming about an island, he travels there to see what his dreams were all about. He discovers more than he bargained for when it seems he's been there before.. multiple times and he can't remember.
GRAPHICS: 15/20
The developers have made use of the standard Smile Game Builder assets in this game but have also made use of some custom graphics also, both that compliment each other. I see there's use of assets from DLCs also which is nice, such as monsters and bosses.
I would have liked to have seen the game make use of it's own custom graphics completely but can't moan at what's present 'cos i'm a fan of the SGB standard RTP stuff. Animations are little jarred and don't seem to activate that often properly but that's probably the way they are set up.
SOUND: 12/20
Okay, so the music is really nice and chill, menacing at some points too, I feel some of the music fits the game's tone and some of it don't. Sound effects are okay, it's mostly the SGB RTP stuff but there's nothing wrong with that. The game makes use of that ear piercing sound effect though when making selections, I HATE that sound.. lol.
I am pretty sure the song used at 3:15 into the video, i'm sure it's off something like Harry Potter, or Lord of the Rings..? could be maybe another game..? There's NO credits list within the game's folder to check so if anyone notices where this song is from let me know, 'cos it's really bugging me, I am 100% sure i've heard it somewhere else.
GAMEPLAY: 12/20
The gameplay reminds me of 'Mario 64', roam an area, collect coins to gain access to doors that lead to different areas, defeat a boss, and repeat. As an SGB game, it's original.. and i've not seen anyone else do this kind of gameplay for their SGB game BUT I have seen it elsewhere and unfortunately gets boring pretty quickly because it's all the same stuff.
The thing that lets this game down is the awful attacking, SGB is an Engine primarily for Turn-Based Jrpgs, action encounters work extremely poor in it. When attacking you miss most of the time which draws battles out longer than they need to be (which are probably scripted using a RNG system) and forces you to use your potions.
The game makes use of the problematic 360 free movement that sees your character turn through walls and clip on everything, that's not the devs fault though, that is the SGB developers fault. However, this game's dev DID choose to use it and because of this it also makes battle look cheap 'cos alignments are off.
SYSTEMS: 14/20
Action Rpg fighting system, which don't work that great. A custom HUD system for many things such as potions, health, keys, coins collected, etc. A unique camera control system that I have not seen in any other SGB game to date. A crystal shard shop system for buying items, and a few more I can't think of right now. In all, the custom systems are pretty good, other than the action fighting system that just don't work in SGB.
OVER ALL: 67/100
It's NOT a bad game but due to SGB limitations and issues that STILL hasn't been sorted out by the developers of SGB this game suffers for it. This necessarily don't mean the entire game is bad though, so do I recommend it? Maybe, if it's on offer and you just feel like throwing away a little bit of cash.

So, it is a basic experience with a few mechanics that you will discover as you play.
It does not hold your hand or offer many hints, but rather allows you to experience the adventure through exploration an a little trial and error.
I consider this game to be cozy and friendly, even if it does offer challenge in the form of its combat, because over time your character will regain their health so you can run around and collect items rather than always fight. The monsters will stay dead in every level as you progress, so there is no need to rush or panic, and you can save your money for upgrades rather than buy potions.
All in all a curious but rewarding game with just the right length and balance for what it presents :)

An absolute gem!
This is such a cute little game with some awesome pros.
+ Cute graphics
+ Interesting concept / story
+ Mix of 3D and pixel graphics
+ Lots of coins to collect
+ Simple RPG elements
+ Challenging battles
- Might for too challenging
- Camera can be slightly annoying
Honestly this game is super fun to play, definitely recommend this one.
If the charm alone doesn't warm your heart, then the challenging combat and light-hearted RPG features will catch you.
