A relaxing solo roguelite with procedurally generated maps and runs with varying objectives that you can, with certain drops, change before you begin the next section. There is a character progression as well, so you can get better and better. The setting is charming enough, but a lot of the NPC interactions become dry after a few runs. Definitely worth a try if you are a fan of this style.

It takes a lot to motivate me to write a review. That being said this game deserves attention as I think the devs really are on to something here. It's pretty early in its EA life cycle so to be completely honest there is not a ton of content. That being said the game is fun and when i got to the second boss expecting a fight and got the EA end of line message I was genuinely disappointed there wasn't more. There was some performance issues I got in the second area but that was released recently, so I'm guessing it's just a matter of time before that gets fixed. The only other bug I encountered was the laser rifle not working sometimes. I'm actually pretty excited to see where this goes, best of luck to the devs. I am recommending this game but with the caveat that at the time of reading this there isn't a ton of content to play through, but judging by their roadmap and general responsiveness I have hope, which is more than I can say for most of the dumpster fire games these days.

If you like rogue lites/likes, then check this game out. Fun movement, weapons and I keep wanting to go back and try again! Devs seem to be responsive to feedback and update the game often. Excited to see how the game progresses!

Edit: After some more playtime I'm lowering this to a cautious recommend. Progression is too inconsistent even after good runs, Map 2 has some unfair enemies, and there are performance issues. These things may improve through Early Access but there's no guarantees. If you're itching for this type of game it's still worth a look, but you might want to wait to see if it improves over time.

It's hard to match up against Hades but if you want something similar this is a solid option. It is in Early Access but it's playable with a decent amount of content and the devs have been active with a promising roadmap
Combat is okay. It controls well with WASD and remappable keys. There's a good selection of regular enemies, elites have fun abilities but could use a couple more types for variety. The only character type (currently) is ranged, weapons are mostly bows but there's a pretty good mix of types and modifiers so you have a decent feeling of choice. Abilities are fun and mix into combat well.
There is a good variety of loot (weapons, abilities, passives) and enemies. There are permanent upgrades but it looks like it'll take a good number of runs to progress through the unlocks.
Runs are a bit longer than I'm used to for this type of game. I'm averaging 90-120 minutes for the first map alone and I've seen 2 maps thus far. You can save on exit and resume later at any location, which prevents the length from being problematic. So whether the game length is good bad or neutral comes down to what you prefer.
The map is a clone of Slay the Spire, crisscrossing paths with nodes of different types like combat, shops, random event, etc. One nice difference is you can insert up to 2 modifiers into each node to change various things - loot quality, add elite enemies, even change encounter type. You get random modifiers as loot from combat.
In combat nodes there are several rooms with map icons that show you most loot, chests, health, shops, etc. Most rooms have teleporters that you can jump to whenever you want. I am a big fan of this feature since it seriously cuts down on time spent backtracking
This is already a good action roguelite worth the asking price imo. Recommended if you're a fan of the genre looking for something new to play.

This game has a lot of potential and I'm willing to bet on it by reccomending it to you. It's a fun game in early acces where the developer are listening and improving the game day after day (You can and should join their Discord server where they answer every question and where you can see them trying to understand bug reports to improve the game).
As of right now the game is a fun roguelike which needs some polishing but it plays more than alright. The story is simple but convincing and the mechanics are very well made with a lot of interesting ideas. I've been following their job and I think they have all the cards to make this game become better and better.
Give this game a try! They are sending out content updates every couple of weeks, and for a 3 man made game they definetly deserve a lot of support.

The game has a unique aspect of choosing your path and being able to change it, but it still has problems that needs to be fixed. Such as the frame rate randomly dropping while just moving without anything happening, and the bug that causes the character to not be able to dash or shoot. This happened to me multiple times and ruined my runs.
I'd love to play this game in the future when the issues are fixed because I really enjoy the concept of this game, but right now I wouldn't recommended this game for the price.

The game is fun but, a lot of things don't work or are not available yet and it truly looks like there is no development ongoing. I'm really sorry I wasted my money on an incomplete game where many things in the early access version doesn't even work. On top of that there are bugs... sometimes you are unable to fight the bow just stops shooting and you are stuck. Sometimes you get blocked by things in the environment... one time through I was blocked by a rock and could not progress any further the only choice I had was to abandon the run. The one run I got the collar for the dog and even though I had it the dog never appeared to help me fight (seriously lame). I wish I would have just waited or spent my money on a game that is actually finished.

Medievalien is a very pleasant action roguelike which combines the procedural generation of a classic dungeon crawler with the new-age feel of your favorite phone shoot 'em ups like Archero. It's easy to get into and play a run, and it's not a big time commitment. It's a game that's constantly being added to in terms of bug fixes and new content. It helps that the developers are extremely receptive to feedback and the like. And while there are some bugs (which I expect in early access), they are few and far between. Most of them will not impact game play in any significant way.
That being said, there are aspects of the game that feel off, to me at least. The game is very forgiving. That's not a bad thing on its own, but it evolves into the game essentially babying the player with certain encounters which are always beneficial to them in some way (case and point: the well and starting buff from the wizard), which sort of waters down the difficulty. This just comes down to personal preference, however.

It's... boring. Feels like someone took all the elements that should go into this type of games, but they forgot to give it a soul.
I totally get if an EA game lacks content, but here there are some basic things like movement and control that still need a lot of polishing. It looks alright, the trailer looks promising, but once you start playing it.. it feels bad.
I guess I'll try it again in a year or so :/
-- UPDATE:
More than a year has passed, and another Early Access game has been abandoned u.u
