It's fun but borderline impossible to unlock the final character.

Child of Abyss is fun, simple and addictive. You play as a kid who lost their doggo best friend (a really sad story) and must offer souls as a sacrifice to get them back (dark, I know). You start with a fixed amount of HP and an special ability according to what class did you choose (there's six classes, 5 must be unlocked) and you must fight your way against hordes of (maybe?) evil creatures, choosing between attacking them or getting items and money. There's no tutorial but the gameplay is very straightforward. Winning is not that hard, but you can run into a bad run (lol) and die pretty easily sometimes. Also after unlocking the bard, gathering enough coins to unlock the next characters/classes can be challenging. PROS: -Cute pixel graphics -Fun, simple and addictive gameplay -Really cheap -You can play just with the mouse. CONS: -No music -It seems you can't return to the main menu from the class selection screen, you must start a new run to get that option. -Playing through the stages you can win items that will affect your HP for the next stage (apples automatically heal 5 Hp and poison flasks hurt you for 1 HP), but when you start said new stage the amount of HP is not shown correctly (it doesn't add or substract HP until you do the first move, and you can die if your HP is too low). All in all is a great little game for the price.

Unfortunately I can not recommend this game, even though the premise seems fun. the game has a very simple playstyle that works to its detriment because the random generation can factually make runs impossible. there is no logic in place to ensure attempts are even remotely feasible, and the "progression" of unlocking characters is not satisfying enough to keep you playing the completely luck-dependent dungeons love the idea. it looked like it would be fun, needs more mechanics and polish

I can see this doing well as a mobile game - it reminded me a bit of Rogue Cards - I just don't think it really works as a computer game. It's too repetitive, too random, to keep my attention for longer than some ten, fifteen minutes.
