it has a good story and setting. but the some of the music tracks gave me headaches very quickly and the passcode puzzle at the start of level 3 for me was enough to lose respect for the game. if you like cheap horror experiences that make you go bbbrrrr play this.

Emerald Lake is the best overall FPSC game I have ever seen. It manages to include dynamic and interactive environments on a scale never before seen in an FPSC game within the dire limitations of the engine. Its visually extremely well crafted and manages to keep you interested with enough variation on the "find the key" mechanic and enough well made scripted encounters to fill its run time. If you enjoy these hobbyist horror adventure games, this one is certainly among the better ones. For an FPSC game, this is just legendary.

Starts off decent and then quickly becomes stupid. Tons of glitches, horrible voice acting and absolutely retarded AI.

Played on Linux using both Proton and Proton-GE, It runs but has problems, First loading screens flick from loading screen to picture from before or just a black screen, not a major problem, second problem was when you die or complete the Game it plays a Video (wmv) but nether Proton or Proton-GE would play the Videos so the game just quits back to desktop, 3rd Problem was some lighting effects are blue, hard to explain and not a game breaker. Now the Game itself was not fun to play, was not scary, and i should have listen to the other Reviews for this Game. Not sure what Engine was used for this Game, it kind of reminds me of some sort of FPS Construction Kit. So i really cannot recommend this Game, It's just not a Good Game.

I must say, I like this a lot. It has one of the best scenes I ever saw in an fps creator game. I really appreciate the effort the developer has put into this! The Levels are looking great and the game got me good on some spots lol... I was actually scared. The game could also use some more ambient music tho, it would thicken the atmosphere even more! Didnt play through yet, because I got stuck, but I will try again very soon. Great Job Dev! ~Duchenkuke

https://youtu.be/fRnVREyfa3Y booze-and-boos.com Well I tried. I gave it my best. But after getting stuck twice and having the game crash 5 times within an hour I had to say fuck it. I recorded an hour of gameplay and after cutting out all of the game crashes and loading screen (which were a couple minutes each) only 25 minutes of the 60 minutes was playable. Easy to break down the gameplay. Get a key from one room, check every room to see where it goes, find a new key, wash, rinse, repeat with a few jump scares thrown in. The tedium grows and grows as you progress and the cherry on top every time the character decides to talk you come to a dead stop. You approach a keypad that you cannot use because there is no power and above the keypad is a light with power to it. You reach a chain that can only be broken with a machete, glass that can only be broken with a cleaver, and a padlock that can only be broken with bat. You have an escort quest with a wounded person who gets stuck on everything as he walks. No one has ever liked escort quests ever. Also a "Panic" or "Scared" meter. Super obnoxious especially when you have no inventory to hold more pills and instead have to down the bottle the second you find it. Ever get stuck between an open drawer and garbage on the floor? I have. Ever get stuck on a wall? I have. Almost all aspects of controls are off in some way. Objects can be picked up and rotated using right and left mouse buttons but it is super awkward. Objects constantly rotate on their own while pressing lmb rotates the object on the x axis while rmb rotates the y axis so basically the object is spinning out of control while you are trying to look at a picture. The sound isn't the worst I've heard in a game except when you break a chain or padlock. Wont spoil it for you but volume warning. When the game would run it was bad. I had issues with it either constantly crashing or some kind of bug getting my stuck somewhere but when it was running correctly it was still painfully boring with 90% of the game play just finding something and then walking back. Save your 4$ and go get a beer.

I am sad. I really wanted to like this game because it legit looks awesome! <3 But-- the lack of a graphical options menu has made the game unplayable for me. My FOV is all messed up somehow and I can't pick any items up which basically ends the game for me. I'm going to give this a 'No' for now. I would love to change my review, but I need to be able to play the game. The last update was in August. Hopefully the Dev comes back and adds that menu, which would allow me (and many others who are having the same problems) to enjoy the game. Fingers crossed, friends! :)

If you're a fan of the Friday the 13th movie franchise, like me, then you're probably looking at Emerald Lake and thinking about how similar it appears to be. The game is about an abandoned children's camp that's close to a lake, and it closed for mysterious, undisclosed reasons. You can see a guy wielding a machete in the screenshots, and the 'big bad' is a buff dude that wears a white mask. While it's true that the similarities are there, Emerald Lake is a far less enjoyable experience than what even the worst Friday the 13th movie ever had to offer. In fact, the game is a completely broken mess. You'd have more fun watching Jason Goes To Hell, you know, the WORST movie in the series (change my mind), than playing this disaster. When checking out YouTube videos of the gameplay from July 2020, Emerald Lake appeared to be in a semi-playable state. Not the best, mind you, but progression was at least attainable. The player was able to pick up notes, keys, and go through the campaign until the constant crashing made them so mad they gave up. It seems as though the August 2020 update broke the game entirely, because none of that is possible now. It's impossible to get past the second level, as no matter what you do you cannot pick up a key to progress. Notes cannot be picked up, they just flap around and then fall back to where they were laying; so they're unreadable. Despite two attempts at "fixing" getting stuck on tables, in the five minutes I played I got stuck on a table twice; I did manage to wriggle free, though, so "fixed" it is I guess. The game also crashes when it tries to load the next level, but that's to be expected for an FPS Creator title. Even if Emerald Lake does get lifted from its unplayable state, it's not a title worth wasting your time on. It's an excruciatingly typical no-budget Russian horror "game" that resorts to key-finding, puzzles that are solely door codes, and stealth sections with deaf and blind AI. It's truly disgusting that Valve keep allowing this kind of filth not only on to Steam, but let it stay despite reports and flags. Just another piece of kindle for the dumpster fire.
