Interesting little VN that falls horrifically short of it's mark.
It's trying very hard to be a short, sweet and to the point story with cute girls and a middle school kid's fantasy of being whisked away to a fantasy land, where life is carefree and girls are suddenly fighting over dibs on you. Why they're fighting over a dude who can't bother changing out of his T-shirt and jeans for a wedding with a princess, your guess is as good as mine.
I actually quite like this style of VN. Dumb protag ends up in a new world, girls all go after him, he goes on a few dates and picks who he liked the most. Dimension of Monster Girls is also on Steam and did that fairly well. Yeah, it was generic and silly compared to pretty much any serious novel, but it gave a barely passable story with some nice artwork that played to a niche.
Hanapon Princess tried and fell short. The characters look nice and I like their designs, they even have some basic animation for mouth movements and extremely limited voice acting. Nice little touches like that make all of the difference sometimes. The backgrounds are nicely drawn, evening injecting a self-serving promo for one of their other VNs as a poster in-game.
After that it just seems as though they gave up with the rest of it and cut corners everywhere. From having the protag in the same outfit in all scenarios so they wouldn't have to draw another to having the room he's staying in the fantasy world be the exact same as the real world counterpart. Seriously, would it really be that much more effort to draw a minimalistic Japanese room or a simple formal outfit for the main character?
Even the length of time the game is set in seems so rushed; as though they were going to have a multiple-day or week long scenario and after writing the first day, called it quits. Apparently the marriage ceremony has to be tomorrow, but nobody mentioned anything about it until the day of. Not even a hint that it was happening from any of the characters. Not that it really matters, the whole thing reads like a rushed DeviantArt fanfic.
There's nothing wrong with a story taking place in only a day or an afternoon or an hour or a minute. But the shorter the story, the more every minute that passes in it has to count. Imagine rewriting the same story, however the deadline is revealed from the very beginning and each chapter of the story covers a couple hours. The less time you have to work with, the better you have to use it. As it is, this whole thing feels as though you've just finished the prologue as the end ceremony starts. You're thrust into a strange world with 4 beautiful girls and have to get hitched to one of them before you can even memorize their names.
I think the developer actually has a lot of potential. Effort was very clearly put into this, just in the wrong places. Before worrying about the tiny details, as nice as they are, make sure you have a working story. Even if it's generic and overdone, the tiny details will help carry that.

It's short and missing CG's. The girls are cute and likable, but it feels like the whole game was rushed out the door to make a quick buck. It's okay, just get it when it's on sale, preferably a deep sale. Futsuki's ending is incomplete and forces you to use the arrow in the upper left hand corner to go back to the main menu.

I'm going to keep it short and to the point like the game itself, Hanapon Princess feels like it was made in a day with art that looks quicker then that. Going through one ending can take as little as 5 and as long as 10 min, while the game is short it is not sweet with awful story, awful audio, and awful non-H and H scenes. Not worth your time or hard drive space.
