A short visual novel style rpg maker game about two adventurers who end up in a mysterious village.
Per:
-weird complex characters
- multiple endings
- funny as well as dark moments
-good music, sound effects as well as artstyle
Cons:
-few pictures depicting the topics of conversation
-little places to explore
-lack of variety in gameplay

It's always nice seeing what people can do with RPGmaker.
The graphics are the game's main appeal for sure, but i thought the story was nice too. Shivering Hearts deals with some very real problems but the writing, while uneven, tends to stay on the light side. Some people might find it a bit preachy, but the dialogue system allows you to bypass some of the story lessons if that's not your thing.
Speaking of dialogue, there are enough dialogue options with actual consequences to justify a second playthrough if you want to see how much of the story can be altered by your choices.

The artwork is what grabbed me from the trailers and screenshots - and it's great the whole way through. A really cool and unique take on how to illustrate a game. A little bit more animation would have really made the game pop, but it was still gorgeous.
Each character has their own set of unique problems and personalities that makes them feel distinctly alive and real. Yurt is probably my favorite, despite his mysteries never being revealed.
Overall, the game is too short! My playthrough clocked in at around an hour and a half. Most notably, I would have wanted to spend more time in the dream world, but there is so much going on in this world (motorcycles, magic, electric guitars, skeletons...) we need way more time to dig into it all.
The dialogue is clearly well-crafted and there are quite a few lines that will make you laugh. The 'battle' with Mittens was perhaps my favorite portion ("You better believe it"). The dialogue trees are well done, but ultimately I didn't feel like the player had enough agency to alter how the story plays out.

I love how this game looks, its music and the whole atmosphere. I played it once, so I cant say much how the playthroughs differs. But what I got impressed me by not staying away from some difficult themes and it made me even tear up at one point. I will definitely replay it a few times more, to see what secrets it holds.

What an absolutely charming little game. One could say that this is really nothing that special, but that wouldn't do the game justice. I really didn't expect how the game would go from kind of goofy and weird to extremely touching and intense - and that in such a short play time!
It's compact (just under 2 hours for me) without feeling rushed, really straight-forward to play and every line of dialogue is either funny, touching or even smart.
100% recommendation if you want a cozy game for one evening.

Although this game is short its definitely worth buying. The visuals are beautiful and it upholds a solid story about an abusive family. Characters are well introduced and have charming personalities all in their own way. Another thing to say is the humor this game upholds as its very well done. I found myself laughing all the way through as the game constantly dishes out humorous dialogues/dialogue choices (perhaps a bit too much).

I was actually really disappointed when the game ended so early. The characters are very interesting and so is the world, which is why I want to learn so much more about them. I hope there will be a sequel/bigger game that covers the past and future of these two. Please give us more of this, dev!
