Furries & Scalies & Bears OH MY! 2: Return to Kale Bay Reviews

So this game is a ride! One that you realize is going to go crazy about 15 mins. into it. I'll not spoiler anything, other than to say Its definetly different. I've no idea why the author took the story in the direction they did. And it left ALOT of unanswered questions about what happened to everyone from the original game! Questions I was not expecting a sequel to bring up, and all the usual questions you would expect some answers from in a sequel. No Answers given, just unexplained mysteries. This one created alot of loose ends, which i absolutely cant get into cause spoilers! but grrrrrrrrr I so wana ask why what and how now! Everything in this game, short of some of the settings taking place in some of our old haunts from the first game, is brand new. Brand new characters, Brand new art style (this one is a bit more colorful, I wont say better or worse, but if you played the first you will notice both the brighter colors and broader palette thats been used,) and brand new MC(s sort of.) There are very few "touch stones" with the first game, and they create more a sense of something off, than something right. There are alot of new characters to get to know, but as the way the game is made, its impossible to focus on any single character to fully flesh out their route and your relationship with them, as you are forced in the beginning to split your time and affections, and once you are able to fully spend time with one person, your caught up in the story line,... that the person your interested in may or may not be an important part of. If their not part of the plot thats unfolding, you have to either choose to talk to those involved in the plot and trying to make your best judgements to understand whats happening and how best to deal with it, or spend more time trying to get to know the person you interested in. Also in the beginning you are given alot of options to flirt with everyone, but sometime you have only the option to flirt with someone or have a normal interaction with someone else. So say Flirt with Bob or Advance Convo with Betty. In such situations you cant just advance the conversation with Bob, or choose to flirt with Betty (although later in another conversation an option to flirt with Betty might pop up, so its not like they were an "unflirtable" npc.) That part left me confused to be honest as several times i had to choose to advance the conversation with the one npc because i wasnt wanting to flirt with the other one. All in all I would say that this is not a bad VN, its a nice short read with alot of replayability. Might even need to play through it several times to get a solid idea of all the motives of the characters, and then play through ignoring most of the npc's except where they are tied into the plot (Ive only played through once and my attention was divided all over the place, first because it was forced to be, then later because I couldnt figure who or what to follow up on, plot or 1 of the 2 relationships i had going.) However if you played and enjoyed the first story, this one is going to leave you with QUESTIONS, lots and lots of questions.
