Very annoying and frustrating movie-game, not recommend, 2/3 of game are cutscenes of soap-opera tears and whines. Just disgusting.

Story:
It focuses on two things, solving a mystery relating to the protagonists, and "saving the world". The personal motive part is decent, but the characters are annoying and their dialog is corny and full of "you can count on me" "I'm not young anymore" "we rely on you" "I can't leave you alone". The saving the world part is shoved into the story (typical video game) and brings classic problems and plot holes, like how could the solution for the worlds' problems lie in the hands of the "chosen one", how did we get here in the first place. And the narration is boring as shit, full of cutscenes of the corny dialog with annoying flashbacks.
Gameplay:
Nothing much is offered, puzzles are easy and have one idea of connecting beams, like Talos principle but 100 times worse. The climbing is annoying and boring as hell. No exploration at all which is disappointing in a space game, the game is boringly linear. Also the minigame which you play to unlock the holograms flashbacks is annoying and uses technology that doesn't make sense.
Enviroments:
Mars look decent, but all space establishments have the exact same boring design.
Finally, this game tries to be a movie and fails at being both, the only somewhat good part about it is the mystery of what happened to the mars team, but even this is infected with flashbacks, corny dialog and annoying characters

The first game was interesting and was a good walking simulator, however this one is a step down. Way too many cutscenes. feels like >75% of the time spent in game is watching cutscenes. They didn't give motivation or enough time for character attachment so I am just bored and don't sympathize with the characters at all. The timeline hopping is not helping the story. The climbing mechanic is okay, but it doesn't work too well so I ended up falling a lot. After a while the game just feels tedious.

Visually stunning, verbally dynamic, and emotionally created and performed. If this game was a labor of love for the Deetman's, then we should all feel like we got pregnant by the time we finish. Well done, fellas! Very well done!

I just don't understand why people say this is a good sequel. I came here to continue my journey of experiencing the "you vs. emptiness of space" atmosphere but got teenage family drama instead. Maybe it's a good game on its own, but it's a bad sequel. It should have had another name to avoid giving false promises to fans who appreciated the original storytelling approach.

I disliked Deliver Us The Moon for being way to clunky.
Deliver Us Mars does a lot to fix things!
The rock climbing is terrible, I love the ~IDEA~ of using separate triggers for each hand and making sure each axe avoids hard stuff like metal. But it loved to fail for no reason, even if I was doing it correctly.
The movement is better, the jumping puzzles were better, the cutter works every time!
Also nice to see human faces and hair!
The story is a lot more fleshed out, I wouldn't say it's an amazing story, but it's better then the first.

Very good sequel and great overall experience. Worth playing both 'Deliver Us' games if your into narrative driven games.

Bratty child simulator in space.
I enjoyed the first game, I really did. The space setting, exploration-based gameplay loop with light puzzles and sympathetic main character delivered for the couple of hours it took me to complete that game. I then took a break for a week first before I dove into this sequel, which from the start emphasized its more personal, emotional, more character- and drama-based story. I didn't particularly like that (and I thoroughly hated the flashback sequences), but I was able to look past if for almost five hours.
New gameplay elements were hit-and-miss: climbing felt arduous at the beginning, but turned out to the best of the additions, with the new puzzle mechanics doing nothing but hinder progression and prolong the game. Space and planetside traversal and exploration was excellent and together with the beautiful world and sci-fi atmosphere was the main driver for me continuing to play, despite each chapter making the characters increasingly unlikable and comically one-dimensional.
In the midst of chapter 6 of 9 (I think), I couldn't take it anymore. The main character is so incredibly selfish and annoying, the other members of the crew are dishonest or
dead
and don't get me started on the big three council members on Mars, all of which were proving beyond shadow of a doubt that they were awful people in the prequel. The self-righteous doctor, the megalomaniac leader and most annoyingly, the mass murderer that happens to be the father of the protagonist, who throughout the whole game is portrayed as this misunderstood genius and saint, despite only bringing destruction and sadness to his family, his colleagues and the world. Oh poor fucking Isaac, who is idolized and defended incessantly by the main character, Kathy.
Shortly after the megalomaniac showed the only multi-dimensional character progression in the game, discussing why humanity is dooming itself repeatedly by selfishness and greed, I stopped playing, as the main character's only takeaway from that scene was her father quite saying (obviously insincerely) "I don't care about Earth" and taking that farce to mean "he don't love me no more". I just couldn't continue, it was so annoying to watch another great sci-fi setting being derailed by *bad* human fucking drama.
I spoiled myself in regards to the ending and that only made me happier that I didn't waste another three hours to get there. I will stay away from the third episode unless there is a monumental shift in plot quality.
