This one is longer than the previous games and visually far more impressive, however I found the riddles to be a lot easier. Still a great experience though.

This is a bit of a long game and some of the puzzles get HARD. Do not buy unless you and a committed gaming partner want to subject yourselves to many many many hours of puzzles. The atmosphere and game world are top notch but overall it gets a 7/10 from me.

A big step up from We were here Together the puzzles we'rent too difficult with really only about three of them being a bit hard. Other than those puzzles the game was well polished and no crashing or glitches were found naturally. The only glitch encountered was from us and not the game itself. We Were Here Together was a satisfying entry to the series and perfected the formula and balance between puzzles solved together and separate. I would recommend finding one partner to play through the entire series together.
The kraken puzzle was a bit hard as the person outside the pod can't hear the translations. To help make it a bit easier the person in the pod should be able to hear what the person outside is playing so the translation portion is a bit more streamlined
We Were Here Forever is an exceptional cooperative puzzle adventure that elevates the asymmetrical gameplay formula introduced by its predecessors into something more ambitious, emotionally resonant, and mechanically refined. Developed by Total Mayhem Games, the title is the fourth in the “We Were Here” series, and it embraces everything that makes the franchise unique while expanding the scale, complexity, and narrative depth. It’s a game that doesn’t just expect communication between two players—it absolutely demands it, making teamwork, trust, and patience essential elements of the experience.
From the moment players begin their journey in the frozen, mysterious realm of Castle Rock, the atmosphere is heavy with tension and intrigue. The game’s visuals have received a significant upgrade compared to earlier titles, boasting moody lighting, detailed environments, and a gothic art style that reinforces the game’s eerie tone. The locations range from claustrophobic dungeons and crumbling libraries to wind-blasted towers and dark caverns, each crafted with a sense of place and purpose. Every area feels alive with hidden meaning, demanding attention to detail and rewarding exploration.
The core of the gameplay lies in its ingenious use of asymmetrical co-op mechanics. Two players are separated for the majority of the game and must solve interdependent puzzles using only voice communication via in-game walkie-talkies. These puzzles are challenging by design, often requiring both players to describe their surroundings, decipher clues, and test ideas without ever seeing the full picture. Success depends on clear, descriptive communication and the ability to think in sync—an experience that feels deeply rewarding when things click, and often hilariously chaotic when they don’t.
We Were Here Forever significantly raises the bar in terms of puzzle design. Where earlier entries leaned on short, isolated logic problems, this installment often strings multiple steps together into elaborate sequences that span entire rooms or areas. The game demands a high level of cognitive engagement, and many puzzles will have players bouncing theories off each other, experimenting with trial and error, and feeling the true satisfaction of shared discovery. These brainteasers are rarely repeated and often incorporate unique mechanics that keep the experience from ever feeling stale.
What sets We Were Here Forever apart from many puzzle games is its strong emphasis on narrative. While previous entries in the series hinted at a broader lore, this installment dives deeper into the story of Castle Rock, its tragic past, and the role the players serve within it. Voice acting, environmental storytelling, and documents found throughout the game slowly reveal the secrets of a kingdom doomed by pride and betrayal. By the end, players are not only solving puzzles—they're unraveling a tale of sacrifice and fate that leaves a lasting emotional impact.
Audio design is another high point, with subtle ambient sounds and haunting musical cues that heighten tension and immerse players further into the world. The use of the walkie-talkie system as the only means of communication adds a unique flavor to interactions. It restricts simultaneous talking, creating moments of genuine urgency and panic when one player needs immediate help and the other is mid-sentence. These design decisions make cooperation feel authentic and emotionally engaging, even in silence.
Despite its many strengths, the game isn’t without its frustrations. The difficulty can spike unexpectedly, and certain puzzles may become tedious if one player becomes stuck and the other has little to do but wait. Occasionally, the game’s ambition can lead to overly long puzzle sequences that might benefit from tighter pacing. However, these moments are few and far between, and the overall experience remains deeply satisfying for those willing to invest the time and mental energy.
In summary, We Were Here Forever is a brilliant culmination of the co-op puzzle formula, offering a hauntingly beautiful world filled with intricate puzzles, a surprisingly deep story, and a gameplay experience that is utterly dependent on communication and collaboration. It’s not a game meant to be played alone—it’s a test of friendship, partnership, and intellect. For those who love to be challenged mentally while sharing unforgettable moments with a friend, this is one of the most memorable cooperative adventures in recent years.

i rly rly wanted to love this came cuz the concept is great.
But what i absolutely despise is, that the game is buggy and forces you to play entire passages again - worth like 20mins. At At the beginning, when the elevator was supposed to come down - it just didnt. even after trying multiple times. We were forced to restart the game and would have had to play the entire passage again.
Thats just straight up frustrating and unrewarding. Not being able to save the game whenever i want/need with this bad of a game engine is just insane to me. And this happened not only in we were here forever but also "we were here too" and "we were here together".
We had this exact situation in each and every game. Sometimes a passage just didnt save, sometimes some events werent triggered even tho everything was done correctly. It was simply buggy.
The game itself could be really fun and i really like the concept of it. But since its not working properly, its a no from me.

This whole series is a standout in the puzzle genre, offering a series of cleverly designed challenges that strike the perfect balance between difficulty and satisfaction. Each puzzle feels well-crafted and purposeful, encouraging creative thinking without ever crossing into frustration. The game consistently rewards patience and problem-solving, making every solved puzzle feel like a genuine achievement. It’s a thoughtful, engaging experience that keeps your mind active and leaves a lasting impression.
I've played through every single one of the games in the series and will continue to do so as they are released, amazing games these are.
Give it a shot if you're into escape rooms, puzzles or things that make ya think.
