the game's too tedious when it comes to the require system. if you make a mistake, you have to figure it out on your own. the only part that does tell you if something's going to work is when you try to put two fish that won't work well in the same tank. It got so annoying to the point that I raged quit at this "relaxing" game.

Highly recommended. This is definitely the best aquarium game I've played so far. The campaign is fun, the DLCs are worth it, the game is pretty cheap, and the actual design part is pretty fun. While there are some missed opportunities, like the fact that there are no crustaceans, and your only options for aquariums are small to medium sized freshwater tanks (ie, no options for saltwater fish or bigger fish like sharks and sturgeons), the game still allows for a lot of creativity, and with some more updates and DLC, I could absolutely see this game becoming amazing. Also, unlike a lot of design games, you don't have to do 20 minutes of chores before you can actually play the game. You just get to design.

I like the game concept but it is missing a store to sell fish in aquarium. Game gets boring if there is not an option to have a store to sell fish to make money. All you can do is design fish tank and nothing else to do.

I initially struggled trying to display my tank without any controls showing, but it is possible. Some are complaining about not being able to put into "screensaver" mode, and the designers say that is not supported. But I think this is what they actually mean. You can go into "observation mode" and within a few seconds, all of the user interface items disappear, leaving just the tank. Great sim.

Tl;dr: Aquarium Designer is a below-adequate game about designing aquariums, as it has very little content and follows horrible user experience practices for a sandbox game. I am really disappointed with the quality and the available content Aquarium Designer offers. The fish species are really limited, decorations lack quality, and although there are great hardscape and plant options, the aquarium building system is really counterintuitive. In the base version, there are only 48 fish in the game, and all of them are freshwater fish. I could be okay with that, but the species selected to include in the game do not contain many of the popular ones I adore. Unfortunately, there aren't shrimp, snails, or saltwater species in the base game, and DLCs only offer a few fish that should've been in the base game. The quests in the campaign mode of the game are uninspired. The ones I experienced were all boring and bland. I didn't expect a campaign mode in such a game in the first place, but if you are not into just the sandbox mode, you may be disappointed with it as well. The worst thing about the game is the user experience regarding the aquarium building system. You can't undo your actions, such as placement and rotation. The collisions are too strict for you to create the unique composition you would like to create. Just let me put the plant really close to the damn rock; this is a sandbox game! I can't even make things big enough so that they exceed the aquarium's limit. Forget making the dream aquarium of yours where it has huge plants and rocks in the middle with tetras roaming around it. You can't because the aquarium building system is terribly counterintuitive; I hate it. The final thing I would like to add is that the build size is huge. How can this game take about 30 GB of disk space? Seriously, how? Overall, Aquarium Designer is not worth your time and money if you have considerable expectations regarding creating mesmerizing aquascapes. There isn't enough content in the base game, and even if there were, the game is just far from being even adequate.

After fully completing this game and getting all achievements i can confidently say this is one of the best aquarium designer games ive played so far. The game has a option to build your own tanks freely and also design tanks for your clients. The game has plenty of options for fish, decorations, plant life, and tank shapes and sizes. And i havent gotten any of the addons but with the addons you obviously get more options for fish and other things. Its a relaxing game overall with a few minor glitches of the fish swimming outside my custom tanks.. which i thought was funny. Anyways its a good game for simple tank decorating, and sometimes i just like going into the community and seeing other peoples custom tanks. You get what you paid for i guess. *shrug* disspopinted there isnt any shrimp...... >:/
