Well, it's a loooong road for this game
BUT it is still in early access, so i have my hopes up.
And VR mode actually works! That is, to be honest, the only reason i do recommend this experience.
My Hardware:
HTC Vive
Radiomaster TX16S
(Needs the driver fix like LiftOff) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcTQsJY2WWA
My experience so far (0.5 hrs):
20 minutes trying to get stuff running, 10 minutes playing.
- Soooooo many bugs, fortunately i haven't found any critical ones so far.
- UI is not optimized for VR and Settings are basically impossible to read on my Vive.
- Maps are somewhat boring, except the cunstruction site, which i can't play because of my first point :D (i get reset all the time)
- Flying physics are.. Meh.. I've never flown a real quad, so i can only compare to LiftOff.
Quad is waaay to light, if you turn off throttle you loose all momentum in a second and drop like a feather. Flying feels more like a plane than a rock with props (what quads basically are)
+ But stereoscopic VR mode is really cool! Can't wait to try it out once it's a little more polished.
I will update this review as i get more playtime

Right, I gave it a good try, but in the current state this sim is unplayable on an Index.
I am writing this review instead of a bug report, and since this is obviously a passion project I won't be refunding... yet
Issue: none of the buttons on the index controller work. The pointer itself works, but that's it, can not click on menus, interact with anything. Checked the controller profile and buttons have correctly named actions attached to them.
Corollary to that, my handheld controller (ds4->steam input) can not interact with any menus in the game.
If I launch the game in 2D mode I can use the mouse to click on stuff in menus. But in VR there is no way to interact with the game at all.
Please fix

It's a really nice game and I know it already before it was coming to Steam. I really was looking for the "real" game on steam and was happy to see it here now.
I can also play it nicely with my Taranis X7 controller. But I was not able to get the video output to my HP Reverb G2, which is really sad. I tried a lot, but only works on my computer display and not on the VR headset. Hope that this can be fixed.

I immediately selected stereo vision in VR, tried freestyle mode, and almost threw up. 10/10
Seriously though, this might be good for getting over the motion sickness you can get in FPV before you buy the drone.
I'll be trying the unreal beta once I'm back from the motion sickness
