The gameplay was extremely bland and had little impact on any aspect of your runs, the graphics are certainly not pleasing, it also ran terribly slowly on my pc when other games that require more processing power to run, work fine. This game is not really worth the buy, and I got it on sale.
SNAPSHOT
$0.99 game with a $9.99 price tag
OVERALL - 0.99 / 10

PROS
+ unique artstyle
CONS
- painfully easy gameplay - meaningless items / stats - horrid UX
FULL REVIEW
Honestly this game seems like was released immediately after being code complete when 99% of the development time was spent on the artstyle / vibe. The artstyle, while interesting, ends up being an impediment to gameplay instead of a benefit. For example, it's really hard to tell at times what all is actually harmful to the player - are these floating orbs enemy / friendly projectiles or are they just random things flying around for no reason? Aesthetic choices aside, the UX itself is some of the worst I've seen in a long while. From knowing when ANYTHING is getting hit (friend or foe) to the game actually realizing you've finished the level there is nothing in this game that makes you feel good about playing it. I'm not even sure why the game needs to generate each level as they're all so similar and forgettable that I wouldn't have even noticed if it re-used the same one each time. On top of this, many parts of the game seem to be at a delay as if the only intent is to inflate your time in game. For instance, the game takes a few seconds to actually realize you've killed all enemies in a level, and the "wheel of fate" sequence afterwards also takes time to spin up and wind down even when you use the shortcut the devs provide to skip it. This game also claims to have "full controller support" but I abandoned using it almost immediately because of how bad it was. It seems clear that the game was built around using the mouse as the controller inputs just move the cursor around in the menu without any added benefit. Using the d-pad made the cursor jump around the screen without actually selecting anything in the menu (lol), and for some reason the only way to then use the menu is to use the RIGHT analog stick only which seems like the most offensive choice the devs could have made yet at the same time is apt for what this game turned out to be. On top of all of this the items, stats, and weapons in this game are comically bad and essentially meaningless, which combined with boss fights that have almost no mechanics behind them makes the entire game as forgettable as can be. Almost everything in the game gives minuscule stat bonuses that have at best a negligible impact on the game, meaning you can realistically skip everything and still beat it in under 2 hours without issue. Or, you can just save automated Steam support the hassle of having to refund this and not buy it in the first place.
