Buggy mess
For me the game crashed...

first time after clicking Start on the start screen

next time after choosing a save file

after a surprisingly long time without issues (about 15 min) after opening a chest the tutorial told me to open

next time after opening the same chest, because I couldn't continue without opening the chest

last time after opening that same chest...
... and that's when I said:
"Fuck this game!"
... and quit and refunded.
If this were an early-access title, the unstable state and occasional crash would be somewhat forgivable... but as a full release this is either a joke or an insult - pick your poison.
Also, the English translation sucks dirty balls, but this is to be expected from devs who didn't grew up with English.

A good game but somewhat difficult and repetitive. The difficulty curve is a bit sharp for the later part.

OK so I got pulled in by the beautiful graphics and the 12 unique characters. I liked this game a lot for the first couple hours, but I can't recommend it and here's why:
The game is not balanced at all. Essentially you have to cure your heroes ailments (3 types) a la Darkest Dungeon style. However, the building takes awhile to upgrade and a long time to work. One increase SO much faster than the others and stuns your characters at the beginning of every fight. SUPER FRUSTRATING. Meanwhile, the game cuts you off from leveling until you beat the first "boss" level. BUT, you can't level up past level 2 until you do, and it's HARD. Not only that, you have to do it fast because your city gets attacked in 5 days (each day is a dive into a random dungeon) by several waves of enemies. It backs you into a corner at every step and creates a constant feeling of annoyance.
Resources are really hard to come by, which is fine, but honestly even on the easiest mode I felt the difficulty eventually just spiked to a point where I can't progress past the second dungeon. Maybe I'm just bad at it, but the game has a rewind feature both in base and in battle that I shamelessly scummed so that everything went well, and I am STILL getting crushed. I have good items all my characters and am leveled up as high as it lets me.
Basically the game takes some of the challenge of strategy out of it with this feature, yet blocks you from grinding, fully customizing, taking it slow, buying items (no place to buy potions that cure the 3 ailments listed above), etc. I just don't understand the design choices and I feel lie there's nothing I can do differently to make my team stronger. This makes for a wholly unfulfilled feeling when succeeding and a hopeless feeling overall.
There is so much potential here. This should still be in early access until the balance is fixed and the translation is finished. I can't understand half of what the game is telling me either.
Game doesn't work for me
I've run this game and then I stumbled upon this button "Click here to start" I clicked and I get to start a new game but then it loads and goes back to "Click here to start" and when I click again nothing happens? I even clicked on the button to quit the game and it didn't quit at all so I force quit by Steam. Please can anyone help me or fix this issue?

Soul Elegy is a turn-based dungeon crawler to be exact. I didn't find the roguelike part yet and probably won't in the near future.
I had the game on my wishlist for a long time now but it was released with Chinese text only. Now, I saw the English text is available so I decided to try it out.
Dungeon Crawler?
Even though the game's description doesn't say anything about being a dungeon crawler it basically is one. You go on a mission in an area and have a goal (Beat enemy X, finish 5 battles, find X, etc.). The area is divided into several rooms you can see on a mini-map. Every room has several cards you need to reveal first. It's either a chest, an event, a battle, or whatever else the game has to offer. As a side note, it certainly doesn't lack any content as of now. One card will reveal the way into the next room. After archiving your goal, you can back to your base.
Base
Your base consists of several buildings. One of these is called base (Yes, it's called the exact same. Probably because of a bad translation). This building lets you permanently upgrade attributes of units (for example more health) or give bonuses for future explorations (recover 5 mana after entering a blank tile in a dungeon, etc.) in exchange for some resources or currencies. Most things can be upgraded multiple times.
Then there is a time rift. It lets you rewind the game to the previous day which feels a bit like cheating TBH and isn't really the meaning of a roguelike.
In the undead habitat, you can recruit new units, and the cursed temple lets you cure negative effects in exchange for gold and time.
Then there is the warehouse. Everything you collect during your exploration will get in there. Well, not everything to be exact. After every exploration, you can salvage some stuff... And the game tells you that everything you don't salvage will be salvaged automatically but some of these things land in the warehouse... I don't really understand it myself. There is some system behind this mechanic but It is explained pretty bad so I can't explain it either.
English translation
Like you probably know by now, the English translation isn't good. I'm not a native English speaker but I'm sure even native English speakers will have problems understanding everything the game wants to explain to you. The warehouse is just one of several examples.
Battles
Battles are turn-based but don't seem like the core of the game as a battle usually doesn't last longer than a few seconds. There are dozens of different units in the game with dozens of abilities in total but still, a battle won't last long enough to warrant being called strategic. This seems to be the result of a bad balance.
Balance and difficulty
The balance is all over the place. Some Units do crazy damage and can kill an enemy with one hit, others do not even half as much damage (With everyone being on the same level of course). This results in some battles ending in the very first turn before enemies can even move while others take a bit longer (I didn't have a fight lasting over a minute yet). Even some fights with a note saying "Hard" ended after my first attack and I'm already playing on the highest difficulty the game has to offer. On the other hand, some events can kill you instantly if you have bad luck but let me explain it in detail.
Most events are based on luck. There are 2 to 4 cards that will get mixed. You need to choose one of them and this decides if you pass or not. Some basic events will let all your heroes die instantly, meaning the exploration is lost, your units get a negative effect (skipping the first turn in future battles) and you need to restart.
Roguelike?
The game's description says Soul Elegy is a roguelike but if you die in an exploration, you can retry it again. You can even rewind time (a whole day, one turn within a battle or the whole battle if you lost, etc.). I don't know how that's a roguelike.
There is a timer in your base, telling you the knights will "penetrate" you after x days. Maybe if you die then, the game will end and you need to restart everything but since you can rewind time this doesn't sound plausible.
Units
You can upgrade units with stones and artifacts giving them better attributes. Aside from that, they gain exp after every fight. For every level up, they gain a new slot for stones and one skill point. With skill points, you can upgrade an ability or learn a new one.
The Good

There is a lot of content (Items, units, enemies, etc.). It doesn't feel like an early access game content-wise.

Many ways to make your units stronger with artifacts, stones, and leveling them up.

Randomly generated dungeons with many different events and happenings.

The base offers a lot of upgrades.

The Bad

The translation is so bad, you won't understand some mechanics at first (maybe after playing some more and trying it out).

Turn-based fights are a joke with them being over after a few seconds even on the highest difficulty.

The balance is all over the place.

The music doesn't fit the theme of the game IMO.

Conclusion
Soul Elegy has a lot to offer but certainly not fun. I just did not enjoy my time with it. Aside from the bad translation and not understanding some mechanics (I'm sure I would understand them after trying it out more), the battles are so underwhelming It feels like a clicker game. Yeah, I've just played an hour but there is no point in playing more if fights, on the highest difficulty, after the tutorial and with a note saying "Dangerous" or whatever, end after my first attack. I don't think this is the core of the game or if, it's just outright bad. There is no initiative for me to play more.
Maybe it's due to the fact this is still in early access or the targeted audience aren't strategy fans but I just can't stand to play more of it and I can't understand why it has so many positive reviews.
I certainly can't recommend this game right now. Maybe I'll try it again in the future, but for now, I will refund it.
