Developer integrated generative AI slop. Deeply regret giving any money to this when the developers have no creative or ethical standards.

If u are into city-building games and the challenges of governing a thriving metropolis, this masterpiece is perfect for you. Of course, not only the strategic depth of governance, but the details of the game from the architecture to the natural landscapes, except for the desert xD, make the game feel alive.
I would recommend to play it with a friend to make the experience worthwhile.
Peace.

Simple and fun city builder, really nice to play with friends. My only complaint is that Mark Rutte isn't one of the portrait options while setting up your kingom.

I've put in about 40 hours playing Kingdoms Reborn, and I’m hooked. Building my settlements from scratch and watching it grow into a bustling city is seriously satisfying.
What’s Great:
-Easy to pick up, but gets deeper as you go.
-Buildings upgrade and the world visually evolves, making it feel like a true progression.
-The resource system and trade cards add a nice strategic layer without feeling overwhelming.
What Could Be Better:
-Once cities get really big or you’re in later eras, the game can slow down. I’ve noticed the frame rate drops in larger cities, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me.
-All in all is a fun, relaxing city-builder that's given me tons of enjoyment, even with the occasional slowdown in late-game.
-End-game features and stages still missing last I checked

Besides late game lag, this game is a lot of fun and you can tell there was some work that was put into it. Hope for an update soon.

Kingdoms Reborn is a thoughtful and expansive city-building strategy game that blends survival mechanics, economic management, and long-term progression across different historical eras. Starting as a humble settlement in the Dark Age, you gradually guide your civilization through the Middle Age, Enlightenment, and Industrial periods, each bringing significant upgrades to buildings, technologies, and societal needs. The procedurally generated world map adds replayability, with diverse biomes like tundras, deserts, and jungles affecting how you gather resources and expand your economy. Each biome presents unique opportunities and challenges that influence your early decisions, making location choice feel meaningful.
A defining feature of the game is its card-based building system. Instead of a standard construction menu, you draw cards to unlock new buildings, policies, and bonuses. In the early game, this adds a layer of strategic randomness, requiring players to adapt and think carefully about their city’s immediate needs. However, as the game progresses and wildcards become common, the card system starts to lose some of its tension and becomes more of a formality. Some players find this mechanic innovative, while others feel it slows down the early phase without adding long-term complexity.
Citizen simulation is at the core of Kingdoms Reborn. Every person in your settlement has a role in the economy—working, aging, starting families, and eventually dying. Their happiness and productivity depend on available resources, housing quality, healthcare, and education. You’ll need to carefully balance food production, resource gathering, and industry while ensuring that your population remains healthy and satisfied. Resource chains are interconnected and often require significant planning to be efficient. Although the AI can occasionally misallocate workers or perform suboptimally without oversight, the depth of the simulation is impressive for an indie title and rewards thoughtful micromanagement.
Multiplayer is one of the game’s strongest elements. You can play competitively or cooperatively with others in a persistent shared world, managing your cities side by side or even working on the same settlement in co-op mode. This adds a compelling social dimension to the usual solitary nature of city-builders. The cooperative gameplay mode allows friends to build a kingdom together in real time, dividing tasks and coordinating expansion in a way that few other city-builders allow. While sessions can be time-consuming, the shared experience makes it feel more rewarding and dynamic.
Graphically, the game provides a clean and functional visual style that evolves nicely as your city grows. Buildings change appearance with each era, giving a visual representation of your technological progress. The soundtrack, composed by Alistair Lindsay, adds a fitting backdrop to your city’s development, shifting in tone as your settlement becomes more advanced. It’s not a flashy game, but the attention to atmospheric detail helps keep you immersed for hours at a time.
Still, the game has some rough edges. Trading systems can be overly powerful, especially when players realize they can exploit early exports for large profits. Certain policy cards and military options can create imbalance if used aggressively in multiplayer. The UI, while mostly intuitive, has moments of clunkiness—especially when managing cards or dealing with combat scenarios. Late-game performance can also suffer, particularly as cities grow larger and more complex.
Despite these flaws, Kingdoms Reborn remains a compelling and evolving title in the city-building genre. It brings together many familiar mechanics in a fresh way and offers a level of depth and replayability that continues to grow thanks to steady developer support. With new factions, features, and balance improvements regularly added, the game has steadily matured since its Early Access launch. For players who enjoy slow-burning strategy games with detailed simulations and meaningful progression, this title delivers a satisfying and richly layered experience.
