honestly a great game but the arena mode is super unbalanced for 2 players co-op.

Really enjoyable. I bought it today and played it a bunch. It really has the potential to set itself apart from other roguelikes. Only critisisms I have with the game so far is, that I wish you could set the window resolution yourself and/or customize the graphical options more, however that may be a problem only I have, since I'm playing this game on a potato of a PC.

Well I guess I have the job of posting the first english review on this game. I bought Hani because Im obsessed with roguelike games and this one seemed relatively polished for its early state. And I have to say, I was quite impressed. Hani is still very much in "alpha" as the UI is very basic, there's no real story, structure, or "tone" set yet. However, that which is present is surprisingly fun. The graphics are clean and easy to read (mostly), the combat is pretty fun and can get frantic, and all of the moves are quite varied. Thats all one can ask for at this stage in development. If youve seen this game pop up and avoided it due to the lack of reviews, I would say give it a go, especially if youre a roguelike nerd too. I would really like to see this game get some popularity so the devs can flesh it out more thoroughly. And message to the devs: Keep it up. Theres some serious potential here to make a popular game. UPDATE AFTER MORE HOURS: I have to hand it to Hani, this game is really really great. I've played about 20-something hours now and that was over a good number of sessions. The central combat mechanics of Hani allow for some really wild combinations and synergies of skills, and some runs end up looking absolutely insane by the end. There's tons of ways to pair up your abilities and these abilities come in an impressive variety considering this is made by a lone developer. Combat itself is frantic and fun and runs smoothly on my shitty computer. There's a very personal feeling to the entire game and the silent protagonist adds to a constant dream-like atmosphere. Even though I have no clue what the story of the game is I really liked the ending, its short and sweet and oddly heartwarming. Of course there are plenty of areas where Hani could use improvement. Its nowhere near finished and the entire experience has an "early-access" vibe to it. The graphics and especially the animations need refinement. Content is an obvious issue and although there's enough now to keep it interesting for a bit, its not a game you can play for hours in a single sitting. The "basic" abilities need more variety since you use them through most of the run and there are only 3 or 4 to choose from. I'm not quite sure where to find info on the game and therefore not sure how to do things like unlock costumes or interact with "secret faces." A compendium or something with this information would be an awesome addition. If the Starmyth does read this updated review, theres one thing that I hope they take away. Please fix the slot machine chances. I have literally spent thousands of coins on a machine without a single win just to see how long it would take. I have won before, and sometimes I win multiple times. Just a small boost in win-chance would make the risk much more worthwhile because as of now, its not worth the gold to use. Alright, rant over. As you can see I have spent a good amount of time with the game and thats because at the end of the day its just fun. If you like rogue-lites or just action games in general, Hani is definitely worth the price of admission. If you're really on the fence, wishlist it and pick it up on sale. I really want to see this game succeed and these types of developers are exactly who we should be supporting.
