It feels like VR was an after thought. Tutorial was constantly in my face in the hub (It pops up again and you have to do it again everytime you return), making it near impossible to do anything in it. There were ZERO people online when I played. VR controls were very clunky. Very basic MMO resource gathering mechanics (gather herb, gather wood, gather ore). The game looks good in it's videos and screen shots, but I suggest Skipping this one.

enjoying the procedural dungeons and thew questing system,
some parts need some work , but speaking with developers they are in the works of making additions for the game.

This is one of the most glitchy, buggy, and under develop game I had ever played. Multiplayer does not work correctly, enemies lag and has poor movement, quests can be very glitchy, and it just seems so unfinished. The tutorial kept bugging out for me and my friend. When creating a character all other players will look like that character for some reason instead of looking like their own character. It as if the game put your character model on all the other players. I had such difficulty joining my friend for a quest due to multiplayer menu not showing the quest listed on there. Took a long time getting it to work in order to play together, yet the quest always is listed on combat training so both of us had to complete quests on our own. This game should not be costing 20 bucks.

Overall, not a horrible game. I did get the game on sale.
Im not going to lie, the game is very grindy and could use some refining in a few areas.
Questing:
As many stated, the quests are all "Go here, kill X, Y and Z" and that's basically it. I have not seen any other type of quests yet besides "Go kill Boss X" or "Kill Y and 'save' Z". So the quests could us some variety for sure. Even a simple "Go Fetch" or Escort quest would be welcome.
Mobs:
Until you get to the higher levels, most enemies are a cake walk, specially if their pathing glitches out and they get stuck in a spin. On top of that, most mobs wont notice you until you are standing 5-10 ft away which is a blessing and a curse. This makes the NPC feel extremely dumb, specially the ranged ones, but it prevents you from having to tackle all 6 bandits that spawned in the road. So pick your poison there. Apart from that I noticed the mobs don't have much of a difference in their attacks. Sure some dodge rarely, but most just swing or shoot and sometimes have a poison or something like that attached to the attack. The first dungeon boss was literally a larger version of one of the mobs in the dungeon who had about 10 normal ones helping him. I haven't fought anything extremely high level yet, so maybe something will out do the Cougars 3 Rapid Attacks which are pretty easy to dodge.
Combat:
As far as the combat goes, It's also hard to keep an eye on your health as when you get hit it makes the same sound effects as when you hit the enemy and there is a slight darkening of the edge of your vision which you probably wont notice when swinging your arms around. The UI is not attached to your head so you need to look down to see your health and mana and up to see you enemy radar. On top of that, if a "Boss" creature is in the area, an annoying health bar is present which can block part of your vision even when you are not directly engaged with the boss.
Now, I only played the Warrior and I had some difficulties. First and foremost was blocking. I ended up forgoing the shield all together as apparently raising the shield to block doesn't work and the enemy still lands a full hit on you. Instead I just started dodging using the movement rather than the built in dodge mechanic. I found the built in mechanic felt unnatural when it did work and that was rarely and i kept finding that even though the cooldown for the dodge effect triggered, i didn't move. Speaking of timers, when you swung your weapon it would initiate a timer. For the fist part of it, anything you managed to hit would take damage, but then you took some time to "recover". Even if you followed through with a full swing and came back around, chances were you would hit before the timer reset and, well, nothing would happen. This was annoying yes, but the part that annoyed me the most was using my abilities.
This game is not set up for the Index and to switch abilities you needed to use your Right Touch Pad to select which ability you wanted and the left trigger to use said ability. Simple right? No, unfortunately I found even when i thought i selected the ability, it didn't process it so i'd spend a few seconds fumbling over selecting the ability and then finally being able to cast it. As a result, i found using the warriors abilities such as Charge or Taunt were worthless as for some reason it kept deselecting the abilities halfway through combat and I couldn't stop attacking to try and reset them. I resorted to using the heal ability when i could and just swinging a two handed weapon around hoping to cleave as many targets as i could. I can only imagine the pain of playing the caster class. I will say this, from my observations, i would recommend the Archer class as you keep out of harms way for the most part and that would give you some breathing room.
Other Activities:
Apart from the Quest Grind, you got your good old fashion Crafting Grind. Now i was torn on this one. Yes, collecting materials was a point and click, but it would have been nice to use a pick axe and mine the nodes myself or use an axe to cut down trees instead of finding chunks of wood on the ground. So miss opportunity there, Don't need to replace the point and click, just give us the option. Also, leather. I understand animals have different hides, but for simplicity's sake, since all hides are processed into the same leather, just call them Small, Medium or Large Animal Hides. I have a full inventory of various different animal hides which was mildly annoying specially when your having to juggle items early on. And on top of that the resource gathering felt like they were trying to do a "Monster Hunter" type where each area has special resources... but when you need to gather 300 Iron ore, 300 Coal and several hundred jems to makes something worth while, it gets tedious. Not to mention, early crafting isn't worth it as i guarantee you, you will find something better shortly after or the shops will sell you something better or equivalent.
Also, i saw fishing? But couldn't find where. Maybe i misunderstood. Who knows. Also, achievement would help a lot. Give the players goals to achieve which they can boast about!
Anyways, now that my rant is done. Would i recommend trying this game? If it's on sale, yes. This developer seems to be one that's trying to get its roots established which is evident through assets I've personally used and acquired through Humble Bundles. And yes, they released some stuff back in 2017, but it takes years to get things smoothed out and any where near Triple A quality. So if you're a snob? Don't try this. If you're looking for something to burn a couple hours with some friends, sure go ahead, but keep your expectations low. I personally hope to see some changes brought to the game that can make it better as not many games can fit this bill in VR and seeing how they are still pushing updates for the UI and glitches here and there, i believe some hope is justified.

Generally, Dragon Extinction gets high marks! Nice levels, beautiful visuals. Just seeing my full shadow cast on the ground in front of me is very cool, where in most VR games you are reduced to a pair of floating hands. It is a port of a flat-screen game, yes, so combat is not physics-based, but additions like shield blocking are nice. The inventory and equipment system reminds me fondly of some old RPG games. The game has a nice variety of equipment, plus crafting on top of that!
I'm just past the free demo sections, so there are lots of new quests to do still, but I can understand what some people are saying about combat (and really, when you're on a quest, that's all there is) getting repetitive. It's simplistic, like combat in a MMO but without all those people. But try the demo! It's free, and if you like that, the pay-for game is totally worth the price, and installs right over the demo so you can keep your character (if you want to be a warrior, the only demo option).

Movement is clunky, forward movement is locked to the direction you are looking. you cant move and look around at the same time so any scenery is wasted.
combat is not fun. mostly it seems like you can hit anything effectively by just hanging your controller by its wring strap and swinging it around a little. when you hit something or block there is no meaningful feedback and it seems like your movement doesn't matter at all as long as your weapon contacts them at all.

I still have limited time on the VR version, but I can talk about my first impression. I do have 500+ hours on the non VR version of this game as a reference. It was an extremely cool experience to be able to see this game in VR for the first time. The game still has some bugs coming over into VR. The controls are a bit of a learning curve for me. Interaction with the VR world is limited as of right now. The developer is currently working through constant feedback in ways to improve the VR experience. This is a non VR game converted into VR done beautifully in my opinion. The difference between the games are negligible, and for me as a fan of the original, it is an extremely cool bound to see. Solo play is fine as the game becomes a grind for resources, but playing with friends will always be the best way to play this game.

Its a game where you can do anything! I mean that negatively. You can walk up mountains like they were flat ground, you can cast a spell that 2 shots any creature 50 times without running out of mana, the starting stick kills creatures very quickly, there's no actual story or "questing system" others allude to, appears to be just 'travel to location and hit things". Didn't play for long but it was far too easy to be any fun and didnt seem like it would improve if I let it stay on my credit card. If anything get the non-vr version as you cannot mouse over anything in vr and just have to guess whats best by what looks coolest.

Pretty fun game, love the procedural dungeons, avoiding traps and fighting bosses. Needs some work but it has a lot of potential, looking forward to seeing the game progress.
