Well this was disappointing. A game that is stripped down to bare essentials - no graphics, and pure reactive gameplay using just your ears and one analog stick - has to have pretty amazing rest of the package. Blind Drive, however, doesn't deliver.
The story is ridiculous, but not funny. What starts as a badly written (and narrated) B thriller quickly turns into a Carmageddon-esque craze followed by a Cartoon-Network style finale.
The gameplay gets repetitive really quickly. Hint to the dev: if you replace one sound clue to make a turn with another sound clue to make a turn, that does not count as a new gameplay element. Large parts of the game felt like unnecessary padding and the whole game was way too long for how little content it contains.
While I admit the audio-only game genre is very underappreciated, I have to say I had much better time playing The Vale. Sure, The Vale certainly has its flaws, but at least it tries to do a lot more in terms of immersion and gameplay variety than Blind Drive. In Blind Drive I constantly felt like the devs just gave up and tried to cram as much random stuff into the game to push it above the 1hr playtime so they could actually package it as a game and sell on Steam.
Not recommended.
