Game looks like it has promise but all the romance-able female characters look underage so its a refund for me.

Something about the graphic style of this game just feels off, the gameplay might be ok but this might actually have been better without the 3d element, some stuff just looks weird, why does plowed land look like a chocolate swirl? its not that it looks bad, it that it doesn't make sense. This might have been much better with a pixel style graphics, or the current models for a bunch of stuff need a major revamp.

A great, wholesome game. A mixture of animal crossing, and monster taming. The monster taming and farming sim elements complement each other well

Love this game too much. The graphics are cute, the blobs are cute, and I've never run into a single glitch. Works perfectly on Steam Deck as well. Some days, I just feel like farming. Others, i want to do blob battles and search for ores to mine. Also the most finished Early Access game I've ever played. Love it!!

I played this game back when they were using the letter system to show the power of moves. This game is kind of like starview valley meets monster rancher. When I first played I saw that the game had potential and I liked the style but it didn't have much to offer and the seasons were only around 3 weeks. I also did the tournament early on and it didn't warn about the monsters leveling up in the world. That made collecting some materials and playing the game a bit more difficult. I waited for a while and just recently came back to the game during the PREHISTORIC BADLANDS update. They've improved a lot of the power and balancing issues that I had when I was first playing the game and they've added a lot of events with the other characters. I can't wait for them to add new character events. They also added a couple more weeks for the seasons and more items to help with farming. One of the items added also make switching teams faster and you can register teams you normally use. If you want to play a cozy, easy going monster taming/farming game then I think that this is the game for you. I can't blame anyone if they want to hold off and wait until the game is fully complete but I believe the current version has plenty to do and I haven't noticed any big bugs. I'm happy that the developers are still doing updates for this game and I can't wait to see how this game improves even more.

After reading up on this game and it's developer I decided I really wanted to support it. The game already included two game types I enjoy but the final push was seeing how the developer seemed to take it seriously and made sure their supporters were kept up to date on developments. The gameplay itself is straightforward and relaxing. It's not some big attempt at some groundbreaking content you'd expect from a AAA title and that's just fine. It delivers what it promises and has plenty of room to grow. If you enjoy cozy farming games or like to dabble in creature collectors it's a great find. I look forward to seeing how it improves and I hope you will too

While this game is in EA still, I will say I have quite enjoyed it thus far and look forward to the full release! It reminds me of a mixture of games such as Harvest Moon, Pokemon, Monster Rancher, and a little bit of Animal Crossing. It's a very cozy cute game with little things called Blobs that you find eggs for, hatch, and evolve them while also utilizing the Blobs for helping with battles and ranching duties. You get to craft things and make your farm look as you want to for the most part. You also get to fish, catch insects, mine, chop, gather, and build things. The battles are turned based too which is awesome. There are also festivals each season (there are only 3 seasons), and you get to build relationships with other NPCS around the same age as your character, which I believe will build up to something like marriage and etc. later on. They are very close to the 1.0 release and there's a lot to do, so overall I highly recommend this game!

I love the characters/NPC's. Their storylines/personalities so far are greatly likeable. The art style is wonderful and I really like what was chosen. The blobs are fun and their different "fighting" abilities/ just abilities in general are unique and I really like the differences they have. This is like a farming, adventuring, generic pokemon game (I've never played a pokemon game so my comparison has more to do with the battling). Which seems like a really strange combo but actually seems to work out well as a game. The different festivals are fun. I wish there was more to them but what is there is really great already and impressive for an early access game in my opinion, especially with the small team who is making the game. I wish that the months/seasons/days were longer. I have it on the longest setting possible but I still wish that each month/season/days were longer as the day just seems to end before I can do much else if I decide to have several garden patches and blobs that need things collected from them (milk, yarn, eggs, waste to make fertilizer, etc), I get all that done and then way too much time has passed. So a little longer days would be awesome and/or longer months/seasons as I feel they just pass by so quickly, perhaps if the days were longer than the length of month/season wouldn't actually be too short feeling. I feel that the shooting star event is pretty cool but I find it frustrating to go after the items that fall depending on where I am at the time that it starts. Still it's a really nice addition. Using the waterboard to collect the items makes it easier to get to them in a timely manner though so that's a plus, love that thing, super fun to use. I wish that you didn't pass out when it gets to midnight, maybe just a buff that causes tiredness all day or something would be better but since most games have this it's something one has to just accept, still I always hate it, I mean it's not like people just pass out from one night of not sleeping. The way you save is great. I always hated when you could only save when sleeping in certain games, this is not that kind of game. You can save at the tent/house, save at the different sign posts as well now, it's great. I'm all about saving at all times. Grateful for this. The point system for when you level up friendship is nice. What you can use the points for is useful but I feel that maybe that could be improved upon, maybe they will do so as I know they have already added some to it since the game came out in Early Access. Still I like it and it's easy to use. The settings in the game are easy to use and understand and the small tutorials for whatever is in the game, mostly how to speed things up are simple and to the point, always a good thing. Overall the Early Access game as of May 11th 2025 is really enjoyable and I don't regret buying it.

TL;DR Ova Magica has charmed me with its clever mix of creature-based RPG and farm-sim. The game is well thought out and made with obvious care. And it has its own twists! Creature raising/fighting, farming and socializing are the 3 cores that make this game whole. Each aspect supports the others, encouraging players to alternate between different objectives and giving them choices in how to progress.

BLOB

Smart progression system: discovering new blobs usually means unlocking new abilities (making farming, socializing or combat easier or even opening up new areas). It makes you want to catch them all!
Multiple ways to get stronger
… but be aware the system might confuse you at first. You’ll get the hang of if soon though! (you essentially build the strength of your blobs by using certain skills they have, it’s unfamiliar but nice)
Battles are engaging (choices have to be made, you don’t just apply the same strategy over and over) but not harsh after you learn how the game works
SOCIALIZATION

The characters were my main reserve when I played the demo. They felt generic. And I still think the beginning lacks appeal BUT: as you progress relationship (1 heart = 1 event) you uncover more and more nuances to the characters. Each goes through difficult events and learns to find their own strength. It’s a nice theme (another connected one is
bad parenting (parents being neglectful, hostile or absent) which is astute in a game about raising (creatures)
).
Valuable in more than one way: gift, unlocking progression and building, or teaming up!
Easy enough but it still feels earned
No gift-giving mechanic (so relaxing... You can play without a wiki open)
FARMING

Progression system: What to buy ? What to focus on today ?
Quality of life features
Not the main focus: you can make money farming don’t get me wrong, but I found it more rewarding to
go into blob worlds for money and other resources

Bonus point: Customization

Player’s appearance, house, yada yada, farm layout (it’s easy to do!)
Breeding to satisfy your own beauty standard is completely acceptable: I personally go for very silly looking combinations and I’m very pleased to report that you can have very strong, very useful and completely foolish-looking blobs to help you in all your endeavors!

This game is smart with its strengths: there are nice gamaplay loops with creature raising/fighting mechanics interacting with social and farm ones.
You want stronger blobs? Battle residents. They like you better, you win and gain a reward like money, energy or a resource you can use for your farming endeavors. Also, now residents are stronger and you can take them with you to blob worlds. It will be easier to progress further and gain more resources for your farm, they will like you better, then you can unlock more stuff, etc.
Ova Magica is fun, kind, relaxing, engaging and simply a well made game. It has a demo (save carry over full game), the devs are careful of feedbacks, the game has lot of content and I will say it one more time: silly-cute looking creatures!
