Game was pretty okay for it's price. It's an simplistic plattformer with an pretty reserved artstyle. The game calls itself an metroidvania but unlockable abilities are only needed to find some secret "souls" you can trade in for different masks who give some benefits in exchange for an disadvantage. To be honest I didn't really care for the masks and most of the time I didn't wear any except the one that makes me faster for less life, because less life is the only disadvantage that don't have an effect on the controls, Where we at them I think the controls are fine and precise I don't share the opinion of other reviewers here, dunno if they were finetuned during some patches I can only say asides from some edges of plattforms you can drift off to, controling the character in the recent state of the game was fun. I especially liked the rumble feature when throwing your shield, destroying things, or using the dash float, it felt more impactful that way. There is a slight knockback when you throw the shield which kills your momentum, however i'm pretty sure it was implemented on purpose so attack spamming doesn't become overpowered, always when you attack you leave yourself vulnerable for a split second, so you need to plan your attacks more carefully. After the defeat of any boss you gain new abilities and these are all traversial ones, unfortunelately I got the only situational skill the "teleport" at last, so there were many secret I had to bypass first. The other abilities like a bubble that gains you a few seconds of elevation and the double jump, altogether with the "dash float" are easily able to combine and chain into each other which makes especially traversial in the endgame rather fun. Well it's a short romp. There are 4 areas, each one takes approximately 25 to 40 minutes. The game isn't too difficult in my opinion, checkpoints most of the time aren't too far away and not too close to each other either, you have 3 lifes as standard. It depends which area you take first. By accident I tackled the most difficult one first it seems, "marshall rabbit" without any upgrades is probably the most difficult boss in the game. There are bonus bosses after you beat each main boss, the game warns you to gain all 3 main abilities first, but to be honest the extra bosses didn't really felt like an "hardcore post game" challenge, they were all stationary and had pretty clear telegraphed patterns throughout, but either way they were fun to fight at least, there was enough freedom with the stage layout that you could optimize them pretty well. Would have like an boss rush mode or something like that. The last boss was also pretty fun although it was more an autoscroller plattformer, still a welcome change of pace I suppose people who struggle with plattforming will have more problems there than me. Still I was a bit disappointed by the last area, this one you can only access when you beat the 3 other main areas. I expected that the game now demands mastery over the 4 traversial skills with finnicky plattforming sections that bring out most of the potential of the games movement, but it didn't happen. Instead it was an rather uninspiered maze where you chase one dead end after another hunting for keys, with nothing new. Variety is the biggest problem here the level designs feels most of the time rather uninspired. It's okay for the short time, but I didn't encounter anything interesting. The level which is totally dark is probably still the most unorthodox one, when you have to push invulnerable enemies into spikes. (which was repeated in the last level again) So yeah like I said not really a metroidvania, more like 3 open levels you can do in any order for accessing the 4th open one, all of them are interconnected by a short streamlined tunnel, since you already have a map of any area which shows you completely it's layout (no automapping) there is not really a sense of discovery. I couldn't bother getting 100% either, but still I obtained the achievment I suppose since the extra bosses came with an update it's now possible to achieve above 100% dunno if that was intentional, well it helped me obtaining all achievements without having to care about backtracking for every nook and cranny. Wasn't really motivated for this to be honest. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ So if you don't expect an metroidvania and rather a fun short little midcore plattformer, you're good to go.

I got this game on sale for less than 1€ and I'm not sure if it's even worth that much. I wanted to get at least halfway through before posting a review despite noticing many of the issues I'm about to point out almost immediately, but after half a dozen deaths on the very first boss, I can't be bothered. The first and biggest problem is the total lack of control customization (or any kind of options menu at all, really). If you have a QWERTZ keyboard setup, the game is unplayable, as the block button (Z) is miles away from the rest of your controls. If you press and hold 3 keys at the same time, your controls will lock up, so if you want to jump and dash diagonally, if you hold the spacebar for too long, the dash just won't activate. The up arrow is used for interacting with NPCs as well as advancing the dialogue, so if you try to skip through, you end up opening the dialogue box again. The range of the interaction is massive, so if you try to dash or attack up anywhere near them, you'll open up the dialogue when you didn't want to. Regular enemies follow very basic movement patterns and seemingly serve no other purpose than to be a minor inconvenience on your way. They also have no hit confirmation, making whether you hit them or not a total guessing game. Enemy projectiles track to an insane degree, which makes the aforementioned inaccessible block a requirement to get through certain areas. The environment is drab and the only major difference in locations besides the enemies is the single color used per area. Every single platform in the game has a curved end so you can jump onto the edge of a platform only to inexplicably slide off. The last update by the dev was about a year ago and he doesn't seem active on social media, so I highly doubt any of these issues will be fixed anytime soon.

It's a game but not for that price. Also you need to finish at least 1 corrupted boss if you want to 100% despite finishing everything(corrupted bosses normally needs to not count to 100% since after killing all you finish the game 110%)

Spent 20 minutes going through the world with no idea where I'm going or what I'm doing. Eventually ended up at a point that I couldn't pass because it was packed full of spikes, but to go back would take forever. I exited out to the main menu and it said I was 14% done with the game...

Great little pixel-based platformer. Challenging, true, but quite enjoyable. Shares similarities with Celeste in terms of difficulty that makes you want to come back for more. It's not as linear as Celeste though, it's more exploratory in terms of finding the items you need to progress. I love it.

I paused for a while before writing this review because Enter Digiton is a real mixed bag. Absolutely gorgeous visuals - unique, striking, clean as hell, and memorable. The visual design of the entire game is phenomenal. Aside from the visuals and presentation, unfortunately, things take a bit of a dive. There's a lot of jank here - movement, collisions, enemy designs, and level design all leave a bit to be desired. Enemies are either laughably easy or obnoxiously difficult, and some enemies inexplicably don't seem to be able to be attacked. The player's collision box or the tilemap's must be non-square, because you'll slide off the corners of platforms and against walls for no reason. Instant deaths are common, particularly when falling into the numerous death pits. At one point I got stuck in a little alcove because I needed to perform an upwards dash to get out but couldn't because there was an NPC standing directly where I needed to jump and hitting up would just interact with it ad nauseam. The issues go on. Many of these things could probably be remedied without overhauling the entire game, but in its current state, it's a bit rough. I'm going to recommend Enter Digiton due to its inspired visuals and overall presentation, but go in understanding that you'll need to be a huge metroidvania fanatic to overlook its many faults. Consider this neither thumbs up or down. Any precision platformer with wonky collision, is a rough experience. However, it does have heart so I gave it a thumbs up. Not the worst couple bucks I've spent.

Visuals great UI great Mechanics great World/level design, platforming, exploration....................Atrociously bad. The game world is massive but so ****ing bland and empty and repetitive. The 1 boss (moon girl up in space) I fought was okay, but not amazing enough to make up for the incredibly bland 50 minutes it took to get there. The game starts off very strong just because of how good it looks and feels, but after about 10 minutes of exploring the world I was thinking "wow this feels really kind of empty, but maybe it's just the intro and it will get better". 1 hour later "wow this is really what the whole game is like lol" You shouldn't design a giant world if you aren't willing to put in the effort to fill it with interesting things. Game would have been much better off if the "stages" leading up to the boss fights were significantly smaller. Like 80% of the map area can be cut without losing any interesting gameplay, that is how empty and repetitive the world feels.
