A fun and visually stunning racing game set in a beautiful version of the UK. The driving feels smooth and responsive, with a huge variety of cars and events to enjoy. The changing seasons add a nice twist to the gameplay. It’s easy to jump into and hard to put down — great for both casual and competitive players.

"Forza Horizon 4" transports players to a beautiful, condensed recreation of Great Britain, offering a dynamic open-world racing experience that stands the test of time. Its standout feature is the shared world and the revolutionary seasonal changes, which transform the map and available events every week. Driving through snow-covered roads in winter, blooming fields in spring, or sun-drenched autumn leaves adds immense variety and keeps the game feeling fresh.
The core "Forza Horizon" loop of racing, exploring, and customizing cars is as addictive as ever. The car list is extensive, the driving mechanics are superb, and the game is packed with hundreds of events, challenges, and secrets to uncover. The online integration is seamless, allowing for casual co-op or competitive racing with other players in the shared world.
While "Forza Horizon 5" has since improved upon some aspects, "Forza Horizon 4" still holds its own with its unique seasonal system and charming British setting. Some might find the progression a little too linear compared to its successor, but it's a minor point. It's a vibrant, engaging, and incredibly fun racing game that offers countless hours of enjoyment.
Would I recommend this game to a friend? Definitely, it's still a fantastic racing game.

A very solid game overall. I really enjoyed my time with it - the open world, visuals, and car variety are excellent. I mostly played with a wheel, which isn't ideal here, as the controls feel quite off compared to real-life driving. But aside from that, it's a great experience, especially with a controller.

The game is good, both in terms of graphics and textures, such as mud and rain, etc., but it would be great if the driving physics were a little better.

love the game, its a great arcade racer
however as of late there have been heaps of stability issues.
i can barely play the the game for longer than half an hour before it randomly crashes.
i understand the team is working more on FH5 and possibly another new game but hoping for at least a stability fix

This game is amazing- I loved playing it on my One X. The Steam version is great too, but for some reason it just crashes on startup. I have no idea why. I can only run the game on my laptop. I've tried disabling av, and other fixes, but nothing worked. This problem isn't well documented either. if you're looking to buy this on some key site, be aware.

I don't honestly know how many hours i have spent on this game. It feels full and the world is amazing. Kinda bring me back the original masterpiece of FH1 feel. The only bad but really bad thing about this FH4 is the sound. Oh boy... IT SUCKS! Apart from that everything feels natural horizon staff.

Yes, racing was fun, but picking up your favorite supercar and driving around while listening to radio felt weirdly therapeutical.

Sad to see it de-listed, wish I could have bought some packs before they went to the unavailable status

Perhaps there’s no point in reviewing a game that’s no longer possible to purchase on Steam and perhaps there’s even less of a reason for anyone to actually read this in mid 2025 but this game deserves more praise even in the era of “the lack of videogame preservation”.
Forza Horizon 4 is easy to pick up and start playing. It welcomes you to explore, it invites you to mix and try different races, different classes and different activities. There’s a lot to see and do. Plenty of roads to discover (more than 500) beautiful locations that can truly change the way you play it based on the different 4 seasons and a nice selection of radio tunes to keep you company. This is not my first time playing this game, I finished it once and I’m now aiming for another run on PC but this time with the two DLC expansions. I decided to get this game last minute before no longer being able to purchase on Steam and while I’m happy, part of me feels empty to know that this is an incredible game that is not being available to everyone looking for more Forza Horizon in their lives. The game still holds up in pretty much everything, music, visuals, performance and at almost 40 hours I still need to wrap up one of the DLC before going to the next one. There’s so much game in this videogame that truly begs the question what can we do to keep videogame preservation a thing of the present and not just a wish hoping to be true.
I actually put my backlog cleaning on hold to play this game one more time. Despite no longer being able to purchase on Steam the game lives on. Players are still active, you can still see them cruising, drifting and messaging the lobby with a shy “hi” as if they were trying to keep the memory alive, as well as the game itself. There’s some feeling I can’t describe to see a removed game with an active audience. Players still want to play this game and licenses and contracts put the dream down for good for many others.
Forza Horizon 5 is well and alive but we have to wonder for how long. Forza Horizon 4 is now part of History, a warm memory for some, only a wish to play for others. If you find a way, come and join, the old timers still want to have fun in the lobbies.
