I replay the entire Rusty Lake series every couple of years. (I first found these when they were browser flash games!) They're spooky, they're scary, they're occasionally a bit too hard but honestly it's ok to use a walkthrough to get unstuck, but overall really satisfying once you get to the end. And the lore--if you like the hints of lore and characters you see in this game, you will love the rest of the series.

If Salvador Dali, Hitchcock and Twin Peaks had a child, it would be any Rusty Lake game

a little complicated, but it's long and fun to solve, with a great dialog

Creepy, mysterious and engaging. These games require you to pay attention to details and make your brain work for the solution. The fun part is they are all part of the same story. Also, the devs kindly provided us a list with the recommended order in which to play all their games.

I really adored these games as a kid, so it was fun to play them all again and earn some achievements!

This is the one, the big compilation of everything before it. Super long and took forever, had me looking up the answers for those really obscure puzzles.

Ugh. Just don't with this one. Body horror, and not even good body horror, and it ruins all the puzzles because the thing you have to do for the puzzles is usually just inexplicable body horror. And of course it's inspired by Twin Peaks (blatantly and uncreatively I might add), what else would I expect. Hint system is awful, also. It's just. It wants to shock me. But puzzles where you have to stab a bird, or feed something horrendous to a dog, or cut off your own ear. (as Van Gogh of course. I can't think of any other reason one of the parts is Van Gogh themed.) They accomplish nothing. I am not shocked; I knew it was going to be something dumb and gross as soon as I got a knife or a bodily fluid in my inventory. I am not remorseful; these are not choices you have to make, they're just necessary for progression. Instead, I am simply mildly annoyed that this is the puzzle. Even the puzzles that don't require you to harm or self-harm don't make sense. One requires you to click on your beard hair until it turns into a crow. There are so many other 30-minute puzzle games you could play that are vastly better and more interesting than this.

-Spawn in somebody's house -Immediately scrounge through the drawer for some matches, a knife and a live shrimp -Click on every interactable aggressively until you find 5 colorful pieces of paper and two keys -Play a game of Go but the pieces are bugs -Stab some guy with the knife until a tree grows from his wound that bears fruit -The fruit is an eyeball made of blood -Blend the eyeball and pour the liquid into the power source for your time machine -Find a piece of paper that tries to gaslight you into thinking Rusty Lake is cool and awesome and not weird and dangerous -Get confused and look up what to do next on the wiki -You just had to click the bug on the windowsill -Do so -Get jumpscared by spooky dark man guy who may also be a stag -Grab a cube from a helpful man in a painting, who proceeds to drown in his own blood -Get a phone call from a fortune cookie spambot -It tells you you're a loser and time is cringe -Put the cube in the thing, and the other cube in the other thing -Watch a cutscene you don't understand -Repeat It's fun, it's weird, it's unique, the series as a whole is very interesting. Certainly worth picking up if you're curious.
