One game mechanic, having to press skip on every single turn, makes a 2 hour game into a 16 hour game. This becomes extremely tedious as you move through the game. the Skip enemy turn button should simple be a toggle, would make the game more enjoyable.
Since the developers are actively fixing the small aforementioned issue, it does not significantly take away from the puzzle solving value included in this surprisingly deep game.

Dungeon Solver is a cheap puzzle game with interesting mechanics and levels. Since it's made by a small dev and doesn't have many reviews, i'd rather recommend it.
However, it plays slowly and the controls are pretty clunky. I think it would benefit greatly from having more keyboard shortcuts and a couple small quality of life improvements: enemy pieces move one by one and the enemy turns, you have to deselect your pieces by clicking on them before you can select another, you have to pan with your keyboard, no way to undo an action (and some levels are pretty long, figuring out how the elf works for example took me a lot of trial and error)... all little things that by no mean make the game unplayable, but add up and make the game feel slower than it could be.
The music also got on my nerves pretty fast, although maybe that's just me. The loop just seemed short and repetitive to me.
Despite all this, I think the inventive mechanics and level design make it worth a try if you've got some spare change in your Steam wallet and want to show some love to small devs.

Its a minimalist game, yes.
Its weird. You move arround in a tile based dungeon. You have to click your character for EVERY.SINGLE.TURN instead of just keeping them selected.
If multiple player characters are in a stage there is no indicator of who already made his turn and who can still move. Its not too tough to track with 2 characters obviously, but still - you have to track it.
My biggest problem with the game is "combat". Getting past enemies and/or defeating them essentialy only comes down to annoyingly waiting and spamming turns where you just move arround on 1 spot waiting for the AI to make a dumb move. Thats all there is to it.
Its just waiting for the AI to be stupid.
If you walk into their range, enemies will kill you - so thats when they're smart, which is ok. So you sit 1 tile just out of their range and just wait and wait until they move into your attack range, asking to be killed.
Theres also a timer counting up for how many turns you took to complete the stange, which makes sense at first, but given the random nature of how long it takes for enemies to be dumb its really not based on you. Its really just a waiting game mostly.
There is also no reward for killing enemies. So I guess just move past them if you can do so safely. Its faster than waiting for their AI to walk into your attack range.
As I said - I know its a minimalist game, so no crazy expectations, but even for that its a little underwhelming.

Poorly designed, visually drab, tedious to play, and deeply frustrating. The complete lack of QOL features such as a consistent skip turn button or a redo option make the difficulty more in sitting waiting to move you character a single tile, rather than any challenge of the actual gameplay.
I have played games that came out of the 7 Day Roguelike challenge that outclass this game in every single category, including visuals.

I'ma finna be real honest here, I have no idea what game these other people played.
Dungeon Solver is a turn-based, dungeon-crawler with a HUGE emphasis on the crawling, the game is slow af. Everything takes forever. Even moving the map around, which you'll be doing a lot bc the zoom don't ever fit the whole level. You select your dude or dudes painstakingly, one at a time, click on the place you want to move to, inching 1 tile at a time towards your objective, if you've got more than 1 guy you can make the 2nd skip it's turn in the hopes that doing so will make the pain last a little less. then each and every enemy animation plays out. Game will say press 'f' to skip but that's a lie bc it only works beyond a certain number of enemies and even then it don't make nothing go faster.
So what's the puzzling like? The puzzling is playing chicken with the enemies the game throws at you, usually complicated by the layout of the level and the limitarions on certain heroes movements. Mind you there's no RPG here, don't believe none of that. If you walk into the enemy it dies and viceversa.
Some enemies just walk a path, others seem to come at you but most of the time it's very simple AI and it's just a matter of either using the right hero or wasting turns until the AI walks into your attack zone.
The levels are your usual mix of levers, keys, switches, unnecesarily convoluted at times since moving around is annoyingly slow, even while the "puzzle" is just hit lever 1 to reach lever 2 to open the door. Yep, 60 levels for ya.
Even at less than a dollar, I've gotta say, I've played better for less.

If I could give a neutral view, that would be great, but alas, it not possible.
But I'd still recommend getting it if you want to relax AND are good at solving puzzles - as you need all heroes alive, not just the warrior to get it through, so can't sacrifice the wizard so the warrior can attack the enemy.
You have you use the brain of yours to get anywhere, but if you don't this game aint for you.

dungeon solver provides turn-based get-to-the-exit puzzling on 60 levels. there are traps to avoid, keys to get, switches to switch, even dark levels where you can't see anything except your immediate surroundings.
click the hero to select it, move a tile, then it's the enemy's turn, etc. you might have more than one person to guide (knights can move and attack diagonally, wizards can only move in four directions and attack only diagonally), in that case all your units first, then the enemy moves all of theirs, then traps might change their state, but you have to select somebody after every turn even if you're alone or just want to move the same character, and select-move-select-move gets old really fast.
there's a move counter, but no limit, ratings or anything. sadly, no undo either, if you're dead, you're dead, which is pretty bad, as some levels can take a while, especially without keyboard movement. wasd only moves the camera, e/q zooms in/out, but no mouse panning or zoom and no way to quickly fit the whole level onto the screen either.
a few changes have been introduced based on feedback, but they hardly ever do barely anything. 'r' skips a turn, but only when 2 or more heroes are on the level, and 'f' speeds up enemy turn, but only when 4 or more enemies are on the board, so it's not nearly enough and the whole thing is tedium city, waiting for animations to play out, then all the unnecessary clicking to make things slowly happen.
separate volume settings, resolutions and windowed mode, good minimalist presentation and nice music, plus a friendly price, so it could easily end up being a game worth recommending, but in its current state it's not fun to play at all. I stopped after 5 levels and won't be going back unless the devs do some serious patching.
