I'd try to convey everything about this game and how much it means to me but im lazy so
Very cool, great ost, great story (though you have too look outside of the games to find the rest of it currently.) 100% worth playing both games

Lost what made the original Hylics good and it has zero reason to be this hard both in the combat and the incredibly janky platforming (I genuinely believe the 2d sections were not play-tested they're so bad), would've rather had another rpgmaker game honestly.

If you played the first Hylics and enjoyed it, you'll absolutely love the second one. It is marginally different yet the same game, retaining its mesmerizing visuals and claymation style as well as introducing new mechanics and a ton of platforming. It definitely took some getting used to, but when you get used to it it definitely becomes a lot of fun. It's only a 10~ hour experience with a guide, and man, does it knock it out of the park. I will say, sometimes the platforming sucked, not to mention combat being much more punishing than the first (which isn't necessarily a bad thing). I mean hell, I found one of the fights leading to the boss to be much more difficult than the final boss itself thanks to its ability to stunlock you. But still, this is an extremely fun experience that every RPG player should try, especially if you are just getting into the genre.

this is only a critique of the gameplay. There are times where this game sucks to play. Long boring fights and I had to backtrack SO MUCH on the last section of the game. The first game is so good, both from a gameplay and art perspective. I prefer the earthbound styled combat much more to the final fantasy vibes they're going for here. Still really cool that such a small team (one guy I think) made this.

One of the first games where I explored as much as I could just to be in the world a little longer. The Hylics series is now in my top 5 of all time.
Gameplay was clunky sometimes but it was very fun over all and I really enjoyed the combat system!
