Neat platformer where you're grabbing flags in a level, but the ghost runs of your previous flag captures become enemies to dodge as you progress through the stage.
While it's a platformer at heart, it's also a puzzle in trying to figure out what paths to take so you don't die trying to matrix-dodge your ghosts later.

I really liked Spooky Chase. Not a long game or many levels, but the aspect of trying to avoid your past self is always fun. Makes you ponder whether you want to speed through it or play it safe for your future self.
It took me almost 8 hours completing the whole game, as some levels take a long time due to RNG involved. RNG in this game can feel very unfair which is its flaw, but I still think its a great game for the price.
The boss fight is also a bit difficult and it can also be annoying.
For the price, the cute costumes, and avoiding your past self is a game to get your hands on.

Burning Goat has got a real banger of a roguelike-retro-platforming experience on their hands. The gameplay is that you grab candies on various levels and with each one you grab the level resets from the last spot you grabbed a candy. This repeats over and over and each time you also have copies of yourself that mimic your every move! This makes it more difficult to grab the next candy, and then the next, and the next.
I would highly recommend this game to people that are passionate about retro platformers and want a new and neat experience.
The general goal is to be able to grab ten candies on each level, although the game is forgiving and lets you progress in the world even if you don't nab them all. They will be required for later completion though, but for the time being you are good to go.
This gameplay loop makes you think about all of your moves, because you know that that is going to be your competition later on in the run of the level you are doing.
It gets chaotic super quickly... and I love it! The time attack mode is fun to get some high scores in, and the story is very solid as well. The levels can spike up in difficulty a lot towards the end, but in nearly every single circumstance you feel completely responsible. The controls work well and it adds to the immersion of the experience.
I found out about this game on Twitter.. and subsequently kept an eye on it until its full release. I am glad I did. I am sure I will boot up this game and enjoy the high score mode in it for years to come. The mind-exercise and perspective afforded by the stellar game mechanics is reason enough for me to give it around go-around.
This is probably one of the games I'll introduce early on to my future kids. Thinking of this being a major part of one of my kids' childhood is a very good thought to me. This game is amazing.

This is a great concept! Excellent controls, interesting gameplay, a lot of metathinking and strategizing on what looks on the surface like a very simple game. Hard as nails. Also great little guys.

Good game to pick up on sale for a buck. There's not a lot to it, but what's there is pretty good. 6/10
Pros:
+ Some of the pixel art is really nice
+ Very polished feel, smooth controls
+ The extra modes (multiplayer, etc.) are a nice touch
Cons:
- The concept is really simple, so the game starts to feel repetitive quickly, even with the slight variations in mechanics that new levels introduce
- The intro cutscene's grammar is all mangled

Spooky Chase is a challenging 2D platformer where you are your own worst nightmare.
Try to collect flags and avoid getting caught by your past selves that chase you and replicate all your past movements.
With each flag captured another enemy spawns which quickly escalates in a chaotic level filled with danger.
Once you start running you can't stop, the only thing you can do is jump and move to the left or right.
If you get hit by an enemy its game over and you have to start over from the very beginning, which at times felt a little frustrating.
It's essential to remember your previous steps because you die very fast.
Halloween isn't complete without a costume, and there are many to unlock in this game by collecting candy that you find throughout the platform.
Apart from the single player campaign and endless mode you are also able to play this local with friends.
You can collect candies while playing with friends, but different stages can only be unlocked by playing the single player campaign, and I must admit that playing the same map over and over again became boring fast.
The spooky atmosphere is amazing and the artwork is done really well, each stage looks different and this made it feel less repetitive.
It becomes very addictive to try capturing more flags each run, and with every death I was thinking lets try once more.
My only complain is that the controls felt unnatural and annoying to me and I wished I could change them, for example having jump on spacebar instead of G.
Apart from a few displeasing factors, my overall experience was great.
