It's fun but the menus and scene transfer screens are way too slow. A very strong sense of "I made the letters appear in a pretty way and you will appreciate them if you want to or not!

Great game for those who love to laugh at absolute chaos, and even better with a friend to yell at/with. If you love games like Risk of Rain, Hades, or Wizard with a Gun, I bet you'll love this one.

Good fun to play with a group super casual. Would be nice to be able to normalize a build of some kind - buy items you want before you start.

I am loving the ship out of this game. A unique mechanic is the "low life panic" graphical filter that overlays the screen when you are getting really low on health. My wife absolutely can't handle it and it becomes a hilarous situation every time XD I could play this game for 3 or 4 runs every night if someone would cook and do my dishes, please. It's easy to pick up and always has a surprise. So far I'm loving this type of game and for 2 players its great. This dev team makes the funnest multi-player games because even people who are older or not really good at games can come along - and folks like me can still flex with good execution. I like the animation styles, spawn rates and randomness, the roguelike discovery of different features and the overall "mission"... but we have not completed a full run just yet. Once i get to loop the game and it becomes an "optimization grind" i'll report back. In the fist several months i've really enjoyed it.

This was my first game I 100% with my good friend, which was his first time 100% completing any game in his life (he is 23yrs). We had a really good time working together defending the ship, strategizing synergies, and brainstorming how best to navigate the storm. After the 55hrs of playing this game to completion and doing silly endless runs, there isn't much left of replayability for us. The DLCs are not required to have a really good time, but one character in the Deep Sea Dua DLC has one of the primary characters we played as, due to how useful his ability is. Things I wish this game had: 1) More variation in combats. 2) More reason to play as other characters. Out of all the characters in all the DLCs, there were only 2-3 that we thought were actually worth or fun playing as 95% of the time. 3) More variation in bosses. 4) More depth in game mechanics. I do strongly recommend this game for anyone who has a good friend to play with. Unlike many other co-op games, there wasn't much frustration with each other, other than the occasional annoyance whenever the other person was slacking in repelling projectiles while the other person was busy on the other side of the ship, but stuff like that is quite trivial overall, especially when we get really excited defeating the finale boss on the higher lighthouse difficulties!

For a small game, Ship of Fools is a delightfully fun couch co-op. My husband and I have played it multiple times over now -- always starting from the beginning to re-unlock everything together. With a bit of communication, it's just a super fun way to spend a weekend together seeing how ridiculous of a ship we can manage or what game breaking combos we can stack up. This game has a lot of charm and has genuinely become one of my favorites.

Do not buy if you expect to use two controllers in local coop. It doesn't works, and the devs are aware and won't fix it.
