Very enjoyable game. My only complaints are the inclusion of pop-culture references and the breaking of the fourth wall. These seemed out of place (this game doesn't really have a comedic tone), so I wish the developer had omitted those.

I'm one of those players who takes their time and normally will take a bit longer with puzzles then most but yet I finished in around 3 and a half hours (with some extra time replaying for achievements I'd missed) so not sure why I seem to be well below the average for game length. Regardless I did enjoy those 3.5 hours; it absolutely nails the noir spaghetti western theme, the graphic similarity and nods to Grim Fandango are very much appreciated as well. The puzzles are logical and the game offers fantastic hints and direction. QoL features such as skip dialog, skip scene (for the most part) and even fast travel are implemented. Overall I was really immersed and wanting more. I hope the developer explores this world again. EDIT: One thing to add the store page indicates 1000 lines of dialog, please note that does not mean voiced dialog. I accept it doesn't say voiced anywhere on the store page but I personally made this mistake/assumption. So for anyone else reading the game is not voiced although it does provide some immersive sounds for the various robots. I didn't miss the voice acting in the end.

Ultreïa is an excellent game with a very original story and intriguing and likable characters. Well, except for the ones trying to kill you or calling you names. There are some sassy robots in this place. The graphics and cutscenes are dark but quite impressive. The audio does a great job setting the story's mood, even if it's weird at times. The narrative reveals itself slowly, one layer at a time. That's the best way to tell a story. But I wish it were more challenging and longer. It'll only take about 3 to 4 hours to finish. You also need to replay the beginning of the game to get the true ending, and that isn't obvious. The biggest problem with the game is the loading times. I haven't seen load times like these since five years ago on a PlayStation. Geesh. I highly recommend it when on sale.

+ The pre-rendered aesthetic and minimal UI yield an unfaltering level of immersion. + The locations evoke an engaging sense of mystery until the end. + Dark themes, moody vibes and intuitive puzzle-solving. + An adventure that moves along at a consistent pace. + Humor and melancholy. Comfort and despair. + Underground club. I gained a new appreciation for the Point & Click genre as I played this game. What I normally dislike about this kind of game is when I have to resort to excessive trial and error. It turns out, that's only a problem in games with too many red herrings and obtuse solutions. But there's something else. Something I realized while playing Ultreïa is that everything you do serves a purpose. If you do something and it doesn't feel like it helped you progress in any way, it's because there's still another thing that needs to be done with that object or character. Playing with that in mind eliminates a lot of aimless guessing. And if you pay attention, you can tell when you've exhausted all use out of an object or character for the time being. This is also a healthy way of looking at life in general. The story even touches on that point a little, making good use of video games as a medium. I rarely bring up the cost of games in my reviews, but at 80% off, I think it's worth it. Three dollars, three hours, one small robot on a memorable journey. That's Ultreïa.

Surprisingly, this game is quite charming, and the old-school puzzles are enjoyable. Great art as well. The music does the job of setting the mood adequately, and the dialogue is generally well-written and even humorous at times. I'm finding it hard to stop playing, which is a rarity these days for me. Overall, considering the low price-point, I would recommend this game.

Ultreia is a short, but sweet, traditional point-and-click adventure. You control a small robot who is searching for his father's killer, with revenge in his heart. The art and music are very well done and the dialog is just enough to be interesting. There are no voice-overs, as the robots speak in electronic tones. If you are a fan of 'old school' adventurers, I'd recommend Ultreia. It has all the hallmarks - diverse characters who send you on errands, multiple locations to visit, a plethora of 'find and use' inventory, and obtuse puzzle solutions. Plan to do quite a bit of 'try this and try that.' Items in the environment are difficult to see so the use of the Space Bar to highlight hot spots is a must. A GPS for 'fast travel' between locations is also quite helpful. Ultreia takes about 3 hours to play (less if you are tuned into the developer's logic). So, I would suggest picking it up on sale. Completionists may want to peek at a guide because the final achievement requires some specific steps to replay the early part of the story. The game auto-saves, but I'd recommend using a couple of manual save slots along the way. This will give you some restarting points if you need to go backwards. Back in the day, I delighted in this type of game. Over the years, however, I am increasingly drawn to adventures that allow freedom of movement and do not require so much trial and error on puzzles. While I enjoyed my time in Ultreia (albeit brief), much of it was spent in confusion as I tried to figure out what the game was expecting from me.

You're in a robot-populated world and play a little robot seeking revenge against his father's killer while also searching for the meaning of life. Very good point-and-click graphic adventure with an interesting, atmospheric look and logical puzzles (except perhaps one). Some of them were pretty clever, including the non-logical one. It's a game made by a small team so no voice acting and somewhat retro-looking 3d cutscenes, but I didn't mind and prefer with no voices sometimes. Contrary to a lot of adventures, the dialogues respect your time and were short, to the point. Not much rambling here. They were well written, but I wish they had a little more "meat to the bones" so you learned more about the characters and could care about them. I also wish there had been a lot more hot spots with descriptions to look at. The interface was simple, good enough but not perfect; I wish you could get out of inventory without the extra button click. The hot spot finder with spacebar was a life saver as I would have lost a lot of time without it. The story turned out to be surprisingly profound with an ending and moral that makes you think. Despite the cute robot, the game has some adult themes and is not aimed at kids. I didn't need any hint to complete, I finished in about 2.5 hours so the game is relatively short and I would have wanted more time in this compelling world. I think Ultreia is worth playing and might potentially appeal to even non-adventure players.

ultreia is a robot-filled sci-fi point & click adventure. robots shouldn't necessarily mean annoying bleeps and bloops while talking, but you get it here by the truckload. fortunately, there's a separate speech slider, except it's bugged and some gibberish plays no matter what. a voice toggle got patched in that finally removes all of it. some robots might actually be talking, but noises like this is one of the biggest crimes you can commit in an adventure, so I never found out. not much is known at the beginning, only that nymo, the protagonist, wants revenge. an asimovian robot he ain't, though another one tells him to go on a pilgrimage to ultreia instead and he says sure, so he's not completely off the rails. the story is fine if nothing special, there are a few locations to go through, some not really fitting, I don't think, but it is what it is. puzzles are on the easy side, with some quick action required to grab a couple of items. never a fan even if they can be tried again. you can also play a card game near the end, not much point. mostly familiar point & click controls, nothing's rebindable. left click to move very slowly, double-click to run, clicking an exit is mostly an instant location change (should be always) and in the final area there's a fast travel map, but without location names... 'i' or mouse wheel for inventory (up to open, down to close, nice), right click to examine stuff there, space for the hotspot indicator (doesn't work in a few areas and no icon to click or mouse button to press). esc only brings up the pause menu, doesn't close it or act as a back button like it should, and controls can't be viewed from the main menu. there's an optional tutorial if you're new to the genre. interacting with stuff is finicky, as you have to click twice to do anything. it's not a mobile game, mouseover should provide available options, and if there aren't any (it's often the case), a single click should do the trick. or right click to look, left for other stuff. text display was turned to instant, so no more fucking annoying typewriter effect and clicking on every sentence to make them appear completely. really good graphics, plenty of cutscenes, but it's all very dark, a brightness slider would've been useful. music mostly for ambience (not bad though), 'speech' only for annoyance. separate volume settings, a voices toggle and a few languages are all you get in the options menu and the game starts in french the first time, after playing an unskippable company logo. autosaves and 5 manual save slots, can't name them, only the date and time are shown and there's no overwrite confirmation, always bad. no reason to limit slots like this either, another shortcoming that shouldn't exist. autosaves are also iffy. at first I thought it saved after every scene transition but there were no autosaves after waking up in the caravan, right until the end of that chapter. not great. it's a relatively short game at about 4 hours and somehow it felt even shorter, even with the 'real' ending requiring a replay of the beginning, which is another bad idea. it's done well in some aspects (mostly the presentation) and runs on win7, not just win10, but full price is way too much for something that doesn't work completely as it should, so wait for a decent sale. and hopefully a few more patches.
Ultreïa
Updated to say congratulations for winning the best puzzles at the AGOTY! I now have three hours in and am still impressed with this Point and Click game.

Beautiful art and cinematics.
Good music and sounds. Each robot has their own "voice"
Engaging Story.
Puzzles make sense
Point and Click, not WASD movement. I have my cute little robot running this way and that out for revenge on an epic journey! There is manual save in addition to an auto-save, a tutorial if you like. There's not a lot of individual tweaking in the settings, but everything is running so well I'm happy with it. Space bar shows the hot spots."I" for inventory, or use the mouse wheel. Dismiss the inventory by a click on the purple light right above it. Combine things in your inventory by dropping them on each other. The puzzles are making sense. Some of the tongue in cheek humor did make me laugh out loud. I'll update more later. I know many of my friends have this wish-listed so thought I would post this!

Ultreia revolves around the journey of a little robot called Nymo. We have to follow his pilgrimage which is essentially a tale of revenge as somebody killed his father. One of the great things about Ultreia is how easy it is to play it and how much it reminds us of the classic point-and-click adventure games from the '90s. Just simply use your left-click to move Nymo. Clicking on NPCs and items allows us to talk to them or use them, respectively. Inspecting everything is a possibility and those objects we can interact with can be highlighted with the press of the space button. Our inventory will never hold too many items to make it look like a mess and combining items is very easy. And there you have it! Nymo journeys through a world filled with robots. As this is a low-budget game don't expect voice acting from actors. However, the creator still managed to assign different "beep" sounds to each robot. Everybody is a different R2D2. Smart idea! I was pleasantly surprised and it was fun playing through the first couple of chapters again as they are available already in the title called Prologue which is completely free. The nods to the classics I appreciated - there are a couple of scenes where you'll surely laugh out loudly. Highly recommended and not just for the fans of the genre!
