I've played for 7 hours at the moment. This is the game I was looking for, minimalistic, complex, filled with interesting details, but not time/mind-boggling. I can feel the love with which it was made. Thanks!

Fantastically addictive game, with a lot of content to open up and discover. Strongly recommend going into this blind, and not looking up any beginners guides.

kind of grindy but the art style is really pretty and the music's a bop, plus i got it for dirt cheap so i don't regret a thing.

Loved this game from the first watch on youtube, I hope that someone comes in to keep modding things alive but as it stands this is an excellent game that when it came out was extremely unique

I've had this game for so long and I still find it enjoyable to boot up and do a few loops! The mechanics are simple but hard to get perfect, but when you get a good combo it feels SO satisfying to plow through droves of rat wolves xD

It's pretty good. The building aspect is a bit underwhelming and sometimes the game is a bit grindy, but that's likely the point since it is a "loop" game. Regardless, you can have some fun playing the game and unveiling the story.

I love the game's style and mechanics, but it feels far too grindy. New content doesn't get introduced very quickly, and so you're going in "loops" over and over, just to eek out a tiny bit of resources to upgrade something. Maybe I'm very inefficient in how I allocate my resources, but this game really is tedious. If they gave a separate mode with increased speed, or possibly sped up the rate of progression by default, it'd be way more enjoyable. But as it is, I've tried playing twice (got nearly half way through the game on first playthrough, only finished act 1 on my second), and the game is just not hooking me due to how slow paced and bland it is. So little changes over time that I struggle to stay engaged. On first attempt, I aggressively tried to progress. Fought bosses when it was risky, losing resources on death, but always trying to win. On my second, I focused on resource acquisition, retreating whenever I wasn't sure of a fight win, and neither strategy changed the pace of the game for me. There are other games in the genre that do the progression pacing far better.
Lost in the Loop
Loop Hero has a fascinating premise and a unique blend of roguelite and idle mechanics, but by the end, it felt like I was stuck in a grind-heavy time loop. The music, art style, and overall aesthetic have a vintage, almost classic feel — like something ripped straight from an old PC game. The pixel art and individual character designs are fantastic, but as the map fills up, it turns into a chaotic mess. The detailed sprites blend together, making it hard to tell what’s what. The game’s UI does its job, but visually, things start to feel cluttered fast. As for the characters, they felt pretty bland. The dialogue was generic, and the hero never really builds meaningful relationships — everyone just kind of exists alongside them. There was a lot of potential here, but it never really came together in a way that made me feel invested in the world or its inhabitants. The core gameplay starts off strong — rebuilding the world and shaping the roguelite experience yourself is a really cool idea. But the novelty wore off when I realized certain cards (the buildings you place along your loop) were just way better than others. The first three bosses were decent and had really cool aesthetic designs. However, I personally found one class way stronger than the rest and was able to breeze through most of the game and bosses without any issues. Until I ran into the final boss... What an absolute grind fest. I had to farm buildings, cards, and supply items just to stand a chance. The majority of my total playtime probably came from prepping for that last fight. One run, I was obliterating everything in my path, the board was packed with buffs and resources — I thought I was unstoppable. Then I reached the final boss and barely shaved off 1/10th of their health. It’s not a bad game, but the difficulty spike in the last chapter is absurd. Maybe it’s a skill issue, but I had to watch guides and read up on mechanics the game never really explains. I also didn’t use any exploits or infinite farming loops, so maybe that’s why I struggled so much. If the concept interests you, it’s worth trying. It’s an idle (but not really that idle) roguelite with a cool premise. Just be prepared — by the final chapter, it starts feeling more like a loot-farming extraction game than anything else.
Personal Overall Experience: Decent – 6/10
Kinda wavering between thumbs up and thumbs down. I've played a lot of roguelites and I gotta say this is maybe one of the most limited feeling ones I've played. There's very little variation. You play the same builds over and over, you fight the same enemies over and over, you try to recreate the same map over and over because there's no real reason to change it up. There's almost no randomness to the game to give that roguelite feeling of wildly different runs every time. Progression is granular and slow. You grind out resources to craft items that give you 1% of a bonus towards your build. Wow. But then maybe this really is more an idle game than a roguelite. In which case I still have to criticize it for not having very good idling features. It's a perfectly fine game and I enjoyed playing it. The aesthetic is beautiful, I love this kind of lush pixel art. It's just hard to recommend it since it falls under some saturated genres and I feel this entry isn't exceptional in comparison to its peers.
