"Chang'an of the Tang Dynasty" is a game I've played for around 8 hours so far, and I really enjoyed the realistic graphics, which were the main reason I kept playing. The music feels authentic and is very enjoyable. The animations, especially the way buildings are constructed, are excellent. I appreciated the option to adjust the game speed—it’s really helpful for gathering money over time while planning the next structure for another "fang" or for pausing the game when you're in debt. The tutorial was well explained, but truly understanding the game's economy required many attempts and experimenting with different strategies to gain a basic understanding. After that, I realized the game demanded much more management than I initially expected. This made it more challenging, and therefore, more engaging. However, the map (both the user interface and its presentation) could use improvement. Eventually, I figured out how to navigate it, but only after a lot of trial and error. When using the map interface, many pieces of information are hidden. A redesigned layout and presentation, where all key details are easily accessible, would be a great improvement. Adding dynamic events, like "A flood has occurred in XYZ. Many people died, and the fields were destroyed," would also make the gameplay more exciting. It would also be fantastic if you could build roads, rotate buildings, and have a more flexible building structure. Additionally, a wider variety of buildings would enhance the experience. For instance, I miss smaller stalls, medium-sized buildings like restaurants, larger structures such as a general's building (bigger than the noble building), and statues of various sizes. These ideas would especially benefit the sandbox mode. Some text in the game remains in Chinese, which creates a language barrier for non-Chinese speakers. All in all, though, I enjoyed the game, achieved all the rewards, and completed every quest.
