My Sweet Confession Reviews

The hapless, love-struck Ichika made a big mistake, and she might have ruined her friendship with Hana forever. With the help of her classmate Ayumi, can she work her own feelings out in time to show Hana how she really feels? A soft, comedic romance with big personalities and a tinge of melodrama.

The amount of facepalms I did and laughing so hard? Absolutely NO regrets in buying this game! But oh my God is Ichika a huge dumbass. Like, dumbass out of scale dumb. Still worth it though!

My Sweet Confession is a story about two friends who drift apart because of a misunderstanding and by the end, maybe they manage to resolve it. Based on how it looked, I thought it would be as the name suggests. However, it ended up leaving a sour taste in my mouth. Art I'll start off by saying that I love the art style. It's adorable and I like the fact that this game went all in on it – giving the characters different expressions when they say certain things and so on. It's very well done. The backgrounds are also nice to look at. Characters Let's talk about the three characters that we get to know: Ayumi, Hana, and Ichika. Ayumi is by far my favourite character. As much as I dislike the “they wear glasses so they must be smart” trope, she remained the one I liked the most. Probably because we're so similar – we're both brutally honest and have rather intense tempers. I thought she was a fine friend to Ichika but not a good one. There's a difference between being honest to a fault and purposefully mean. She was the latter of the two. It made me torn because on one hand, it shows that she's flawed. But on the other, she's being such a killjoy. And it's always unasked for. Hana felt like a solid character. She got upset at her friend which was completely justified. Their falling out is dramatic, yes, but it's also fairly realistic since teenagers tend to get into stupid fights over the dumbest things. So I had no issues with that. She acted how anyone at that age would. Ichika is my least favourite character. I thought that there was a limit to how dumb a person could be but she apparently broke the record of that. Also, the way that she spoke about Hana felt so gross to me. I found that she loves the idea of being with her more than she loves her as a person. If the gender was flipped and a guy said the same things about Hana, you'd think, “Wow, what a creep.” But I don't discriminate, it's creepy regardless. It's not love, that's what we call obsession. Describing someone as if they're a doll to be admired is not the way into their heart. That's how you get a restraining order. Music The music is beautiful. I like how it changed depending on what was happening and when it dipped out, I didn't find it too sudden. Story Despite all the good points I've made so far (minus a couple) I found that the story lacked substance the most. Which you know is not a good thing since this is a Visual Novel. Funnily enough, my favourite ending is
when Ichika accepts the reality of the situation and that she should move on.
Mostly because there you have the opportunity for them to meet each other later in life (either in college or when they're adults with jobs) and Ichika apologises to Hana then, making it the beginning of them starting over. That would've been sweet. But instead, we get a confession that feels rather lacklustre. That reminds me, one of the choices before that made me so angry. If I loved someone, I think the top thing I would remember is whether or not a food can kill them. I had a friend who's deathly allergic to cats. As the first sentence suggests, we're no longer friends – stuff happened, we drifted apart. But I still remember that. Because it's important information. Needless to say, this doesn't make sense. And don't try to tell me that it's fiction therefore it's okay. That makes you sound about as smart as Ichika. Some fiction is based in reality. I have no doubt in my mind that there are people out there who act close to how the main character does and thinks it's fine. It's not. If the person you like has made it clear that they don't want to see you… Don't pursue. Stop it. Get some hobbies and move on. Text The text isn't as bad as some I've read. It's not good but it is better than a few other Visual Novels that comes to mind. There are a few phrases and sentences that needs revamped because it's too much. “Hundreds or thousands.” “Best friend.” “We've known each other for years.” All these things have something in common – they're used way too often. Repeating words does not improve your writing, it makes it worse. Trust me, I know. If this is changed, I'd consider the writing pretty decent. TL;DR My Sweet Confession isn't as sweet as you'd think.

All of the characters are so dislikable that I can't enjoy the story at all. The protagonist is really dumb, annoying, and selfish. The girl she has a crush on seems like a total b*tch and certainly doesn't seem like someone great enough for the protagonist to have such an intense crush on. The protagonist's friend is also unpleasant. I only went through 2 of the endings because I just can't stand to do anymore. The good ending is unrealistic and weird. Earlier, the protagonist didn't apologize for something stupid she did previously, then when her plan didn't work, she's like, "I know, I'll make my crush some candy for Valentine's Day!" then gives it to her and apologizes only because her crush told her she wanted an apology, so it didn't feel real at all. Then, her crush actually believes her and everything is just peachy keen. The story has no substance at all. It just seems like an excuse for cutesy art and crappy melodrama.

It's a cute, short, visual novel, with full voice acting! Ichika is quite the dunce, but she's trying her best.

Everyone is super mean to Ichika. There's no filter? They're a bit too honest?? It felt like i'm back in highschool and being told i'll never amount to anything and my existence and the lack of it are the same. I know this game is not meant to be taken like this, but i didn't think Ichika would be yelled at by everyone everytime i made a bad decision. ALAS, I KEPT TRYING! ending is good, I cried like a little bitch throughout the game and i'm happy with yuri. Thank you for your heard work to make me shed treas and feel things. Bad memories or not, The ending sadisfied me.

Pretty art, actually good dubbing and solid playtime for $0.5 (on sale) is definitely worth it. Things to remember before playing this game: - it is full of bugs - do not change the font size or the in-game menu will disappear - each time you turn on the game set the volume because it will be reset - turn off sound effects, they're annoying - set voice to low since the dubbing can have uneven sound levels - don't use "auto", it will skip some of the dubbing - don't press spacebar in the main menu

I was a little apprehensive about the plot at first, being a lesbian looking for a purely yuri experience, but if you manage to get the best possible ending, it's worth it! Very cute game, I love the nostalgic 90's anime vibes and this game is just super worth it all around! Very short and quick, but sometimes those are just what we need at times.

I honestly do not understand why there is only one review so far because this game is such a beautiful gem. The main character is a young lady in high school who wants to be friends again with her childhood best friend. The story line is a bit cringy; however, that what makes the game great because it is age appropriate to the setting and the character's ages. The graphics are well done, the voice acting is adorable, and the price for this game is honestly too low for it. For a game this well-made, the price really surprises me. It is definitely worth to give it a try and play it yourself.
