I became disillusioned with real life football during this covid pandemic, so I purchased PM 10 to remind myself of better times. These are my findings on PM 10.
Loved the fact that players have a limited number of attributes to judge them by, when buying a player you won't know their team abilities until after you have paid.
Simplicity of team tactics and formations from which to choose, again I enjoyed this.
I played in all the English divisions and found that 352, direct, attacking, zonal marking was the best. By watching the game at slow speeds you get a fair idea of what might need changing, 352 defensive counter attack can be employed with the same personnel as long as your wingers have reasonable marking and tackling abilities.
MY BEST TIP - When buying a goal scorer, check the results of the team he plays for, if most of his goals have been penalties the chances are he is not as good as his stats suggest. You may well have a good penalty taker of your own.
When starting a new game playing as a team you don't know, check out who is their Captain by means of a game save if you have one or through real life history. I don't know how clued up PM 10 is but it seems like a bad idea to name the wrong player as Captain!
GOOD YOUNG BUYS -
Kasper Schmeichel - Notts County - Goal keeper.
L. Holtby - Schalke - Left Wing
Down the right hand side of the home menu are five staff icons, from top to bottom - manager, chairman, coach, scout, physio. The bottom four work fine but manager (me) does not. My icon flashes quite frequently but I cannot access what I assume to be news or player requests that await me. I don't know for sure but I think this might be affecting player moral.
Every three turns the chairman requests that the stadium, training ground and medical centre need repairing and the costs are astronomical, typically 1/5 the cost of the stadium per year!
No income generated from merchandise sales in the course of a year and no end of season break, maybe this is something to do with the manager icon not working!
Despite me playing PM 10 for 600 hrs I have never seen a forward with a season rating above 7 not just for my team, that is for all the teams in the division. In one season A Smith of Newcastle scored 34 in 35 games all from open play and had a season rating of 7! On the subject of ratings, tackling is a big plus but interceptions don't seem to count. By playing the game at very slow speeds you can analyse much better what is going on, M Skirtel of Liverpool and Y Kaboul of Portsmouth for instance are always intercepting and are fairly cheap to buy by premier division standards.
Scout opinions seem to work in reverse, really high ratings for bad players and vice versa, could be they are rating players according to cost! They have no idea how to rate a goalkeeper, they seem to be rating outfield performance.
Coaches seem to be obsessed with reaching their 8 star rating and take no notice of how I am trying to play. I have to take over the choices of what type of coaching my players need. I have to leave the coach BOX UNTICKED or else he will undo all the good/bad results that I am trying to attain. Physios have to be told what to do and then TICK THEIR BOX, playing this game initially I kept sacking them because the players were up in arms about the lazy SOB according to the coach.
Manager experience points advance so slowly that I will never be good enough for the chairman to allow me to build a bigger stadium, I am by now a multi European and premier league winner who has managed to accrue £100 million. I think at the start of every new season it is treated as my first season in management! Perhaps this is in some way connected to the manager icon not working!
You all must have heard of Peter Crouch! Well in PM 10 Peter and all other forwards go back to the half way line while his teams corner is taken incase the defending team counter attack with pace! There is an answer to this catastrophe, make him take the corners!

Almost exactly the same game as Premier Manager 06/07, which was counter-intuitive and lacked basic detail.

If you already have job, this is a fun game that gives you an overall sense of what it might be like to manage your club without affecting the rest of your real life...enough realism and simple to navigate.

I recommend this game because it has the same visual score-line-settings as Football Director I & II.

Not a great game, slowdowns after just 12 games in. Not much depth for a management game. I payed less than a £1 for it and it feels like i was robbed!
