I Came back to add to my review that this game actually gets a lot better as you play, the level design starts to become impressive where as the beginning it's some what basic, but it stats to live up to it's claimed influences. I won't go so far as to call it masterful level design, but... the point is the game is even better than I though, and I thought it was worthy before
I do not remember what I paid for this, I know it wasn't full price. It was likely under a dollar, but I don't rightly remember and I'm not bothering to check. Normal retail is $5.
This is surprising decent. It'd say the actual animation is it's weakest point. And nothing about it is "great" but it not too shabby either. For the price point, it's a decent little time waster of a platformer with some decent music and competent enough art and graphics for the price point. You get some pretty basic stuff as far as attacks, platforming, using attacks to bounce off enemies. Pretty basic stuff. You can also throw your ax and you can kind of control the arch to some degree by throwing it at different angles.
It's even got a boss rush mode. Something like this has a boss rush mode... I'm not saying you need to check it out right away. However, if you've been looking for a goofy, casual time waster of a platformer, you could do a lot worse...

Overall a pretty solid platformer. Great boss design, honestly. I wish there was a boss rush mode in the game. Very visually appealing artwork, and a very catchy soundtrack. Only major complaint that I'd have is the difficulty spike in the second to last level is pretty steep, only to fall off significantly come the final level.

I played this game on Glass Axe difficulty
The game was very fun, I enjoyed my time with it for sure. The writing was simple, but well executed and I really liked some of the dialogues between Axela and the bosses. The gameplay (normal attack is inspired by Hollow Knight) was very well executed, and felt super good. I loved the segments where I chain bounced across spikes and other obstacles. Most of the graphics in this game are pretty charming, aside from a few things I'll mention later. The map designs are alright, they definitely get the job done, and nothing feels unfair, which I like a lot. I also really do enjoy the boss fights.
There are a couple things I don't like, but they're kind of minor. First, the dragon boss just looks weird. I think somehow the sprite got squished, so it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the game's graphics. Second, the autoscrolling segment. I really didn't like this, especially on Glass Axe difficulty. The level had you jump on a platform and had to wait around while dodging objects that could hurt you (or one hit you on Glass Axe!). It was the only level that I didn't enjoy at all.
But the game as a whole was a very polished and fun experience. Would I recommend it? Yes, I do highly recommend it, especially with how cheap it is. Definitely pick it up if you like platforming games!
TL;DR
Good game. Play it.

Its a cute casual game, but it can be potentially challenging if you play on Glass Axe mode. Hard mode is fairly challenging but nothing too major. The game difficulty is overall friendly for people that just like to play through for fun. Gameplay is simple and the story is cute. Go for it if you like these kind of games.

An absolute gem of an indie action-platformer.
A fun experience from start to the many, many times you'll end up finishing it trying to get a higher score with the heartfelt charm of a small team's passion project. Challenging when it needs to be, which is pretty much everywhere after the first level.
I hope we see more sometime in the future!

I only logged a little over an hour of playtime from start to finish, despite going at a lumbering pace. It's still a fun little game if you axe me!

This is an inexpensive game with a good sense of humor that plays kind of like old-school Strider. It's short and the graphics are a little Commodore 64-esque but it's a more than enjoyable experience that doesn't drag out longer than it needs to be. You can beat it in a little over an hour (I sure did), but it's not an excessible easy game either. Worth a look.
