SUMMARY:
If you are looking for a game similar to the Shinobi ninja series on Sega Genesis then Ninshi Masuta might be for you. This game is well designed, with tight controls and challenging enemies and bosses.
PROS:
- Well designed levels, with good balance in difficulty progression
- Fun enemy types that are visually distinct and challenging to overcome
- Good sized over world map with a variety of environments to play through
- Decent length (Took around 4-5 hours to complete)
- Nice Boss variety
CONS:
- Graphics, although very crisp and clean, could definitely use some work in animation and overall quality
- No in game pickups to help the player besides grenades. Would have liked some health and ninja star power ups.
- No Ninja magic
- Levels have no checkpoints and are extremely long. Having at least 1 mid-level checkpoint would really help the difficulty.
- Story is a bit sparse, could use some more fleshing out
- English translation seems a bit odd in places, but still understandable.
Overall, this is a great start and it would be interesting to see what could be done with a Ninshi Masuta sequel.

Tight controls, smart game design, crisp graphics, and an exciting soundtrack.
This game surprised me. It feels like a retro game, but it has a lot of modern niceties and upgrades. And it's HARD. That said, it's fair. I still need to beat it.
For the first game from FVS Games, this is a winner.
