I really enjoyed Maize, and because of that game, i wanted to play more Finish Line Games. i also enjoy platformers and Skully really jumped out to me. Overall, i really enjoyed Skully. The world designs, the graphics and platforming were pretty fun. They can be challenging, but after taking a minute or so to look around it is pretty simple to figure out what to do to traverse the simply beautiful levels. While Skully is not Ghost of Tsushima in terms of graphics, I really enjoyed them and thought it was well done and adds charm to the game. The music is decent as well. Not amazing, but well done. Then I also really liked the story and characters. The game does not go into extreme detail about the characters, and the story is pretty simple, i could not help but enjoy everyone and what they were going through. Then the rolling mechanic of Skully himself. This is not a hard game, but it is not easy either. Some of the rolling traversals were fairly challenging, but fun too. I also enjoyed the 3 forms that Skully can take to help traverse. While not groundbreaking in any sense, the 3 forms were fun to figure out how to use them and help move on in certain levels. You can beat the game in like 6 hours, but if you decide to get every flower then this can take over 10 hours. The hardest parts for me were the half circle ramps at weird angles. I kept getting stuck on the sides and falling off. No biggie, but some of the other mechanics i found were a bit inconsistent. Jumping, making self moving platforms and grabbing onto the vines were the worst. While not terrible, it is something to mention. i would try to jump to a platform and i barely moved. Then I would sometimes disconnect from the vines randomly. And I would try to set a platform to move over a gap and nothing would happen and have to restart at a checkpoint. The other problem I had was it is hard to judge depth in this game. Trying to figure out how to set a platform to make a jump was a challenge. I think I would have it and get to the jump and be WAY off. Some of these problems could be my problem, but want to mention them. Nothing in this game is broken or annoyingly challenging, but I would find myself a bit cross when some of that stuff happened. However, none of this will ruin the game, as this game is a bit challenging and fairly rewarding when you get some of these right. Also the price might be a bit high, but if you want to wait, I am sure another sale will knock it down. With all that said, Skully is a fun and decently challenging platformer with a good story, good graphics, fun mechanics and all around great charm and i would suggest it to any platformer gamer out there.

Overall fun little parkour platformer, but the difficulty is NOT consistent. One stage, you'll be rolling along with no challenge, then the very next room, PIXEL-PERFECT-JUMPS-WITH-NO-CHECKPOINTS! The game could do with about twice as many checkpoints or the ability to quick save after performing a complex object setup. It's no fun switching between three golems sixteen times to get your platforms just right, then slide off the edge and lose everything. Skully himself needs an ability to halt all inertia, by pressing or holding a button. There are many times when the game expects you to hit a ramp a fully speed, then land on a much-too-small ledge. Your inertia will send you flying to your death. The escape sequence in Fiona's Chamber is also extremely badly designed - the lava raises to EXTREMELY quickly, the Player has no choice but to skip half the collectables per run. The lava timer should be removed entirely, there is nothing fun about dying 50,000 times in a row.

Got this on sale with an 87% off deal and what a surprisingly great game! It's true that I am biased when it comes to 3D platformers, but this game has more to it than I expected. The graphics look real compared to other 3D platformers, in a 'Claymation' style. Controls are tight and during jumps, landings and an odd terrain features, I got a lot of the nervous stomach moments that make this genre so much fun. The voice acting and story add to the game's charm too. I played for a couple of hours and worried that the game wouldn't last as long. I'm no speedrunner, so I will be able to enjoy this title for a good amount of time to come. 3D platformer fans take note when this game is on sale.

You'll have a ball while you're rolling the skull around. The parts where you slowly walk around as a mud monster are slow and frustrating. Some of the mud monster puzzles in the last few levels are exasperating due to the controls and weird collision detection in places. Unfortunately there is just way too much of the mud monster stuff. As Grandma used to say, it's as fun as a bucket full of skulls.

As someone who has put almost 100 hours into this game (I speedrun it) I can say I like it ... to an extent. Fun speedrun that has some interesting skips and out of bounds, though I can see why people may not like it casually. Controls at time can be quite good, while other times you'll have a hard time getting Skully to go where you want. The water enemies can combo you to death right after they spawn in if you slightly touch them but most of the time they are avoidable. The one definite upside is the soundtrack and VAs, I quite like listening to the music during runs and the VAs did a great job with each character, and the dialogue imo is quite funny. tl;dr Great speedrun, not so great casual game. Music good, VAs good Legit if you picked this game up try some of the speedrun strats, makes some levels ridiculously easy

Okay. There seems to be some mixed reviews on this game so I'm going to do my best to lay everything out for everyone before they make a decision. Let me start by saying, I love this game. That being said, nothing is without faults and Skully is no exception to that. This game has a lot of charm and is unique enough to set it apart from other games in this category. The characters were well written, and they had a lot of really good chemistry. Everything they said to one another felt natural. The story was nothing too new, siblings fighting + gods fighting gives you Skully. The puzzles weren't overly difficult, but every now and then I would stumble across one that had me looking around for a few minutes until something stood out to me, but that was rare. I have seen people say that there is an issue with poor programming but honestly, I didn't see that. Sometimes when climbing i would hit a bump that would knock me off that platform and i would have to start it over, but to me things like that only add to the challenge. I did come across one or two puzzles that if i was standing a certain way on a moving platform it would get stuck and i would have to move slightly to remedy the situation, but if that's the worst thing i have to deal with in a game, then I wouldn't give it enough thought to complain about it. My only real complaint would be on start up sometimes there would be quite a bit of lag that caused the camera to go crazy for a while until the game caught up to itself, but this isn't the only game I've seen with an issue like that so ill give it a pass. TL;DR Don't listen to the negative reviews. This game is a great, relaxing, casual game (although everything has its faults). I'd guess that the people leaving negative reviews aren't that good at this style of game in the first place and don't want to just admit that they are bad.

I am enjoying this game, however, it keeps crashing on Windows 11. Any known fix? Never mind. It was a hardware/memory issue. I had two different brands of memory, both were the same speed but I guess they are incompatible.

+ Actually good story! + Nice visuals + Fun platforming +/- Overall easy Tell you what, I'm used to games of relatively smaller scale like this to have 'stories' that are basically whatever. With Skully however, I was very pleasantly surprised. The story was sometimes cute, sometimes sad, and it made me actually care about the characters. That's refreshing. The puzzles are generally fairly easy so you'll be doing more exploration than thinking. Platforming is fun and polished but also not particularly difficult. Good controls too (some people report otherwise and tbh I have no idea what the hell they are talking about). The flower collectibles are sorta useless and could be done better but I enjoyed getting them all anyway. I can recommend a similar game here, Glyph, which is the finest "ball-based" platformer that I've played. It's not big on story but it offers much higher challenge with perfect controls and great polish.

It's a nice puzzle-platformer. The game's controls are tight and it feels better on a controller. If you liked Crash-Bandicoot style quirky platformers, this may be for you. The game starts with just being able to roll as a skull, but quickly introduces other forms that you can take to solve puzzles or navigate tricky terrain. Ultimately, it's a nice game with a lot of heart and charm where you can bring some of your own creativity in resolving puzzles.
