It's like Dark Souls but goofy!
I don't think that's something enough reviewers feel the need to address. The gameplay is very much on point: rolling, blocking, dodging, GETTING MULCHED BY B.S. TRAPS THAT TAKES YOU TEN DEATHS TO FIGURE OUT YOU CALL ON YOUR TELEKINESIS TO CLEAR *INSTEAD OF* "ROLLING THROUGH" AS THE GAME INSTRUCTS! And the whole process of beating the boss involves NOT rolling into the deadly fire, AND figuring out which attacks you need to block and which attacks you need to roll away from. (So yeah, gameplay IS just like "Dark Souls".) The cheer of the narrative tone is clashing with the frustrating gameplay, where even the most pathetic first enemies can smack you silly if you charge in recklessly, all while they make monkey noises as if to truly add maximum insult to injury. The only thing that'd burn more would be 13-year-old kids saying slurs and slang instead of monkeys, but Sir Whoopass is a classy (even if clumsy) fellow, so that level is just too saucy for his tastes.
With that said, I have to truly curse Steam for not giving me a "mixed" option. To the developers, I don't hate fun...I hate GETTING EMBARRASSED BY THE TUTORIAL! (Yeah, as I was figuring out how to use telekinesis right out of the prison cell gate, I UNWITTINGLY SLAMMED THE METAL GATE DOWN ONTO MYSELF! That's the sort of incompetence I'd expect from MY MOM, NOT ME...but, honestly, that kind of "Accident" fits right in with the tone of the game. Like, normally, doors can not just destroy the player...but this is NOT a normal game; it's like a mild and lighthearted version of the ruthless titles brought to us by Sierra Games and OG D&D 1E.)
I'm not sure if the difficulty option in the settings menu does anything, but if it DOES, I might be a LITTLE too harsh, since I DID have it set to the highest difficulty of "Nightmare". But I CAN attest the "Aim Assist" does NOTHING, since "aimbot.exe" gives ZERO HELP for hitting bad guys!

This game is SO much better with friends, From what I can tell its absolutely MISERABLE alone.
The combats slow, Every gate insta kills if you even accidentally run into it, Moving feels HORRIBLE
but with friends, Thats like eight benadryl taking a second shower, So so good with friends

I don't like that steam is just thumbs up or down because yes I recommend it if on a decent sale, but it's really not that good a game.
The humor is cheesy and immature, the mechanics are clunky, and that's fine, but the difficulty spikes are frustrating to the point I didn't want to keep going when I got to what I think was the 90% point
The game is like a 6/10. You'll likely enjoy it for a bit, you can kill some time on it, but you probably won't remember anything about it a week later

Took 14 hours to 100% this game, had fun the entire time. It takes the rough concept of every RPG there is and turns it into a series of gags. While the mid section can be repetitive or slow (as it did for some other reviewers), it's really not that bad. Especially given the miniscule amount of time the games requires to be played through.
Got in on 50% sale and would recommend waiting for this discount before purchasing. Comes out to ~0,5 Euro per hour of entertainment, which is well worth it.
