Prone to crashing and lacking very basic features (no pause, no menus, no settings or configuration) but the core gameplay loop is fun and engaging. A match lasts like, what, 15 minutes or so? It's very short, but it's kept me coming back for more matches. Some reviews complain about the lack of a save feature, but since the matches are so short I do not think a save feature is that important. I do wish you could at least pause the game, and a menu where you can see the controls would be VERY welcome. Sokpop games are sometimes TOO barebones in basic quality of life and usability regards. Still, 3 bucks is not a bad price if you think the gameplay of this looks fun!

I was getting kind of into it but then it crashed :\ Some Sokpop games I've found enjoyable, but it's hard to get anything out of this one due to lack of pause button and inability to save (which would have helped me when it crashed). Whatever.

Short review. The game is a bit rough, but the broken achievement was removed! Hurrah MIni Pirate RTS, never knew I wanted one. But now that I had one, I am satisfied. A perfect length, not very difficult, some variety for a few attempts at the achievements if you need it. I loved the pirate voices, artwork is cute, the music is forgettable. Everything seemed to work as expected, no crashing or weird issues. I also noted that the 90% of island achievement unlocked at 100% of islands, but I think that was due to the number of Islands on the map making it 89% when there was 1 left. It's cheap and short. You can get it on sale if you want it even more cost effectively, and enjoy it for an hour or so.

This game would be great if it wasn't broken in every conceivable way. Want to send a ship to a location? It MIGHT go there. But that's only one option. Other options include: 1. Do donuts like it's in an empty Walmart parking lot. 2. Get confused and turn around like it just walked through a door and forgot what it was doing. 3. Beach itself. (Which cannot be fixed except by an act of god). 4. Pick a fight for no reason. And if the ships struggle this much with just moving, you can sure bet that ship combat is even worse. Here's the thing. In a 1v1 battle of equivalent ship types, you'd think that your ship has a 50% chance of winning right? Nope. Not a single time will any of your ships accomplish anything without copious amounts of moral support. 3v1 are the only odds I trust (Note: Friendly Fire may exist, but the enemy ship is far more likely to get Swiss cheesed before you suffer too much from it). Okay, so what about goals? Well, the game says you have to defeat the 3 enemy factions, but really you only have to beat one or two of them. This is because when the game starts, every faction other than yours already has multiple islands and an entire fleet (Note: You start with one island and a trade boat). And they will immediately start infighting, likely destroying one captain and heavily weakening another. It is also really strange what the game constitutes as a loss for these captains, as they will just peace out despite having half the map's islands. Other times they will hang on with just a single trading vessel and no islands, up until the end-game where their galleon spawns in. So the way to win is to destroy all their ships, and all capturing every island does is get you the 'Pirate empire' achievement (Note: Despite claiming that you only need 90% of the islands, it is actually bugged and requires you to get every island). Okay, so beating the captains is weird, but a win's a win, right? Nope. If you defeat the final captain the game just crashes. No joke.

I like the idea of Sokpop, but judging by the fact that this is my third negative review for one of their games, maybe I ought to stop buying them. I'll keep it short, this game lacks three basic functionalities: a way to pause, any kind of option menu, any way to save. Oh, and the only way to quit is using ALT+F4. The idea of the game is nice, and the gameplay seems pretty decent, but I'm not going to waste my time on something that lacks such basic features and as such I wouldn't recommend anyone else waste their time with it. Hi, first off I'd like to say I bought the game knowing that all of the reviews I saw for it were negative. I really like the premise of the game, and sokpop games in general, and I'd been looking for a cute pirate trading game like this. How could I resist? Now, like another review said, the game lacks a menu, a way to save, pause, or even exit. I hesitantly overlooked this, but there's more. The game froze a few times, causing me to have to force close it, and start all over again. Each time I had to start again, there was no way to skip the tutorial, either. Not having a menu/pause button was frustrating because, although the game is easy, sometimes I just cant dedicate my full attention to it, or I'm building new stuff on my islands and i *literally* cant see the rest of the map. And next thing I know, my ship is destroyed and my island got taken over. Another thing is, the tutorial itself doesn't help you if you overlook something. I spent a lot of time figuring out why I couldn't capture islands until I finally noticed a tiny "+" button on one of my boats. Only for my game to freeze afterwards, and yep, start over. I think this game has an easy way of obtaining replay value, but it was only given like, half of its potential. The spawn, is already randomly generated every time you start the game, but it's kind of a waste when there's no save button and starting a new game is so, so tedious. I could see myself replaying this game only if: - it actually had a menu - save files - pause button - a way to skip the tutorial - didn't freeze..? So sokpop folks, I really hope you out here and read this. Adding some tweaks would really change this game. But if the devs are no longer working on this, I really don't recommend the game.
