«Chilla’s art» once again proves its mastery in psychological horror with «The Convenience Store». Set in a small, late-night convenience store, the game delves into the unsettling feelings of isolation and paranoia. You play as a young woman working the night shift, where things quickly take a strange and disturbing turn. From the very first moments inside the store, the atmosphere is thick with tension. Dim lighting, strange noises, and unnerving customers all contribute to a sense of dread that gradually builds throughout the game. What starts as a mundane shift soon spirals into a nightmarish experience as you begin to uncover mysterious events and eerie happenings all around you. The game does a fantastic job of blending psychological horror with realism. The seemingly ordinary tasks—stocking shelves, greeting customers—are juxtaposed with increasingly bizarre and terrifying occurrences. The game’s pacing is perfect, as it gradually ramps up the tension and keeps you on edge, making even the simplest tasks feel ominous. The visuals and sound design enhance the creepy atmosphere, with every corner of the store feeling like it could be hiding something. The minimalistic setting makes the horror feel grounded, as you never truly feel safe, even within the familiar environment of the store. If you enjoy horror games that slowly build tension and deliver an unsettling, immersive experience, «The Convenience Store» is a must-play. It’s an eerie exploration of the ordinary turning into something nightmarish.

⭐ A Hauntingly Atmospheric Horror Gem! ⭐ [Chilla's Art] The Convenience Store | 夜勤事件 is an absolute must-play for psychological horror fans! This game perfectly captures the eerie loneliness of working the night shift, blending mundane tasks with an overwhelming sense of unease. The slow-building tension, immersive VHS-style visuals, and unsettling atmosphere make every moment feel off—in the best way possible. The storytelling is minimal yet incredibly effective, making you question what’s real and what’s lurking just beyond your vision. The sound design is equally fantastic, using silence, ambient noises, and occasional distorted audio to send chills down your spine. Every shift at the store feels more surreal, and when things start taking a dark turn, you'll be completely hooked. If you love slow-burn, psychological horror with a unique Japanese urban legend vibe, this game is for you! Watch my gameplay experience here: https://youtu.be/Mje9YexCLGk 💀 Final Verdict: 10/10 – An unforgettable horror experience that lingers in your mind long after the credits roll!

I first found this game while browsing through the various indie horror games available on steam. I was drawn to the nostalgic VHS look of the game at first. After playing it (and beating it), it's actually a pretty solid game. It has a very nostalgic yet dark aesthetic that makes you curious what will happen next in the story. The setting is actually quite beautiful, and the store itself is visually pleasing. I wholeheartedly recommend the game. The only negatives to me, which are very few, is the lack of actual horror since not much really happens. On top of that, the content can be confusing and it's very hard to find you way at first. I believe I got lost for 15-ish minutes trying to find my way to the store, and most of the things after are pretty confusing. The game also tends to break if you do things out of the intended order. It lacks extended content, but it is much worth playing.

I do NOT reccomend this game. Now im not saying dont buy the others out of this franchise I personally love this horror franchise. The game is just difficult. And not difficult as in the sense of "Its so hard i cant play" im saying it gives you no guide on what to do next. I spent more time trying to figure out what to do instead of playing the game. Once your done with one task (mind you already difficult to find that out) you have to go on to the next which is even harder to find out. I swear, I spent more time killing rats then actually playing. But the game in all is fun once you can figure out what to do. Me personally i would skip this game and move on to another game in the franchise. Just my opinion though.

Played this game through fully 3x. Got pretty spooked the first time and I went through multiple choices the next 2 runs. This game can be beaten in about 35min. Would be faster is the npc's walked a little faster lol. It had me sweating a couple of times. There are 3 choices at the end but there's only 2 endings. Wish there was 3 but that's ok. Totally worth $3

Something about the way this game displays made me so nauseous I threw up until blood came out. You can decide if that's a good thing or not.

8/10 - Pros: + This game has the most looming dread energy in all of Chilla's art titles. + Outstanding personality, Terrifying aura and Bleeds suspense. + Great plot to compliment the actual fear + Sound, Visuals and Tempo are set perfectly Cons: - The TV Puzzle is so silly. Just because the perspective of the cameras will not show you exactly what TV he's looking at doesn't justify a trial by error puzzle. - The Village between your house and the store is the greatest red herring in all of indie game history. An entire giant fleshed out village, that you will get lost in, that you don't know if it has a purpose or not in plot progression. Without knowing this it can literally unnecessarily triple or quadruple your play time for no purpose. Conclusion: I would say this is THE Chilla's Art magnum opus. If someone was gonna drop a few bucks to play a chilla's art title for the first time: I would recommend this title, or Stigmatized property. Both are short, powerful, full of looming dread, just overall great horror games. I personally started with Innunaki Tunnel and that was great to start with also.
