Simple hidden object scenes with a few minigames mixed in. Not a lot of fluff.

Got this game on a bundle of "Hidden Object" games. My expectations were very low for this but was thoroughly entertained. The hidden object sections were mostly easy but I did use the "hint" option a few times because certain items were too well hidden. Since English is not my native language I had to look up a few words I was unfamiliar with (like spanner and clef), which I consider a plus because I love adding new terms to my vocabulary. Besides the "hidden object" scenes there's several other logic minigames that I enjoyed and was challenged by more than I would have expected, even having to look up online the answer to one. A good casual option to kill some time and use your problem solving skills.

I like detective games and games themed on Egyptology but I'm sorry to say that this one is not very good. Only consider buying it if it is offered at a substantial discount.

Unfortunately tedious. Despite the intrigue inherent in the setting, Death on the Nile the story ain't. The pattern of the game is as follows: Hidden Object screen, dialogue, minigame puzzle, repeat as needed. The object names are not always correct in scenes, the speaker is not always labeled correctly during dialogue, and at times the minigame takes upwards of 20 minutes to pass even with optimal moves taken. Fortunately, every minigame can be skipped immediately, or after one step is taken towards the solution. I skip Senet every time it comes up due to its status as "worse than pulling teeth." I can excuse flaws in older HOGs, but I've played MUCH older HOGs than this one that were far more engaging. I would estimate that I'm close to the end (please, please let me be close to the end) and there has been no sense of real detective work or even early questions getting answered - just more twists in the tale. It's a passable HOG, but not good and not recommended.
Recommended IF bought at HUGE discount and have no other HOG to play. So maybe not...
Prepare to pixel hunt some blurry images in the British version of English; where a wrench is a spanner, a Band-aid is a plaster, a skiffle (?) is a bowling pin, and I forgot what else. Prepare to hear a lot of discordant honks as the game lets you know it doesn't like *THAT* particular spot you clicked... or that one, or the next 3-10 clicks until your cursor tickles it just where it wants to be tickled. You can find one hint to use on most HOG scenes by clicking on ankhs, but once the hints are gone... If you run out of hints during a HOG scene you are stuck up a redwood tree and no one is going to rescue you. Yup, you are stuck and you are done playing, at which point you have two options: quit and start a new game, or prepare to hear a lot of honking while you desperately click about in an impromptu game of bad touch / good touch. There's is minimal replay value- you can play the mini games again, but not the HOG scenes. On the plus side, it does have a LOT of HOG scenes, and a variety of other mini games which are actually quite a bit of fun. The story is a Mrs. Marple's mystery, with just enough changes not to get sued for every penny (excuse me, pence.) And
the story couldn't get any more Brit than this - the villain is a lower class (the horror!) Yank; I guess they could have made him French. xD
I give it 4 don't touch me theres! out of 10
