it's a so~so game. many references to MYST throughout the game. lots and lots of codes! it would have been better as a point and click game because the mouse movement is faster than normal and can cause dizziness. you can't change this in options menu but you get used to it at some point. I would give this game 3 stars out of 5 since I think it could have been better as a point and click instead of quick fluid movement. it's worth about the discount steam offers and no more than that. all in all it's a good game to pass the time away

Cutish is one of the better Myst clones I have played in recent years. Your plane crashes on a deserted island and you need to figure out a way to escape.
Positive:
- Puzzles are well-thought and have the right amount of difficulty. I have been playing a lot of Myst-like puzzle adventures lately, and I can feel that tuning the difficulty is a big challenge for most designers. Some designers make the clues too obvious, hence you feel no satisfaction when you solve the puzzles (for instance early to middle sections of Moon Castle, 50% of the puzzles in Veritas). On the other hand, some makes the clues too obscure and you get stuck for hours, solutions do not make sense even after you look at a walkthrough (Dark Hope would be a good example for this). Cutish strikes a very good balance in this aspect. Matching the clues to the puzzles is never too straightforward and you definitely feel satisfied when you tackle the more challenging parts of the game. That being said, there are a couple of unfair puzzles, but majority of them were great.
- I love the design of the island. Almost everything is inter-connected, which makes exploration really fun and rewarding. I also like that you can observe most the future places you are going to visit from a distance. Geographical integrity is well established.
- Soundtrack is good and works well for this type of game.
- I liked the story. I wished it was a bit more fleshed out with journals and other stuff, but the overall concept was well executed.
Negative:
- Game is very buggy and lacks polish. I didn’t experience any game-breaking stuff, but navigation and interaction with the environment were very clumsy. There were numerous occasions where I clicked on hotpots and nothing happened etc.
- There is a lot of pixel-hunting. When I got stuck, most of the time it was because I missed picking up an item from a previous location. Your cursor is insensitive to hotspots, which also doesn’t help.
- A certain puzzle type was a bit overdone (the boxes where you need to coordinate pressing buttons to deactivate them at the same time)
- There is a lot of backtracking. Although the island is not that big, getting around takes time due to lack of shortcuts.
- There is one puzzle, which requires some outside-game knowledge (as in you need to Google it). I think this is very unfair and totally breaks the immersion. What makes this even more frustrating is, the clue for the puzzle makes you think that solution should be available inside the game. I got stuck for hours and finally gave up and looked at a walkthrough… If the game used this as a regular mechanic I would be OK with it, but in its current context this puzzle sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest.
Conclusion:
I strongly recommend Cutish to Myst and puzzle adventures fans. It has some technical flaws, but the overall experience is worth it.
8/10.

Cutish is a nice addition to all Myst-like games out there.
It is the work of a single dev who is constantly improving the game, and even still adding new puzzles!
Stranded on an island after your plane crashed, you start exploring trying to find a way back home. To progress in the game, you have to find/decrypt codes and solve all kinds of puzzles (there even is a ARG puzzle that requires to do some research online).
You can access the main menu while in-game by pressing the tab key. The game auto-saves while exiting. I also recommend checking the Infos menu before playing.
Exploring the island while uncovering its secrets is really fun.
If you like Myst-like puzzle games, I definitely recommend you try out this game!

This was a very enjoyable free-roam adventure game! If you are a fan of the Myst series you will enjoy this due to the need to solve puzzles to progress to other areas around this mysterious island. I hope the creator will make another like it! It was very satisfyingly challenging with only one area that stumped me even though the clue was visible. Pay close attention to details and keep a notebook handy to write down clues/numbers/codes. Thank you to the makers of Cutish for a great adventure game!

I love myst-style games and Cutish is one of those games that scratches my itch for myst-style games. The game is quite large for a game made by one developer, both in map/world size and time to complete. It took me almost 15 hours to complete the game. The island does not appear large at first but there are many doorways that lead to inner building and underground caverns and corridors, altogether it is a large map size. You will find plenty of puzzles in the game to enjoy.
There are some nice references to myst in this game. Obviously the author was inspired by games from Cyan and this game shows that.

Played the latest version, which apparently has more puzzles. This one was challenging--I don't ever want to solve the red/green rooftop garden puzzle ever again!! However, I thoroughly enjoyed this game, frustrating as it was at times. Well done game. My advice to new players--don't give up! Eventually you will get there!

A "cutish" little homage to Myst.
What I liked:
--Some challenging puzzles
--Puzzles (mostly) had clear logic--it was clear why you were doing X or Y, and there were enough hints to solve puzzles independently
--Cute references to Myst
--Although the island is small, nice unfolding of locations
What I didn't like:
--All the bugs (especially how, whenever I was in the boat room, the ground swayed like I was on a ship--even when I was on land). Lots of broken walls and sliding through solid objects.
--The lack of visual polish. For a contemporary game, this looks like something made in 1997.
--The pixel-hunting. I would often have the right idea (click on a box, say), but because I didn't click on EXACTLY the right part of the box, I would not succeed. I'd later (stuck, frustrated) look at a walkthrough and find out I did the right thing but clicked two pixels too far to the right, or whatever.
--The almost nonexistent story. I guess you were kind of following the footsteps of somebody else? But you never really understand who? And it doesn't matter anyway? The whole "story" is basically an island-sized Escape Room. Your only goal is to escape, and that's it. Who you are and why you're there and the fact that everybody on the island
died by locking themselves in a storage room without food because apparently they're the dumbest people on the planet--I mean, who says, "hey, guys, let's all three of us go into a tiny storage room for no reason, and shut the door behind us!" "Cool idea!" And also, you just know if three dudes were trapped in a storage room without food there'd only be one body left at the end. Doesn't ANYONE read horror novels?
--Repetitive music. The music plays on a loop, over and over. I had to play the game on mute, because it was driving me insane.
--No menu, no way to change audio or video settings. It took me forever just to figure out how to save the game!
Okay, okay, I know there's lot's more in the "didn't like" column. But still, I played the game all the way through, and I did get a certain level of Myst-style satisfaction in solving the puzzles. When I cheated, it was only because of poor game design, not because I didn't know the correct action to take. If you're looking to scratch that Myst itch, this isn't a bad choice.

First off, I love puzzle games such as Myst, Obduction, Quern, The Initiate I & II, etc. Honestly, Cutish is right up there with them. When I saw Cutish for the first time I instantly bought it as I do with any game such as this. My review will be of when I played it when it first came out.
First impressions of the game were honestly not great because there were a slew of things that turned me off such as the menu, UI, etc. I can't really remember tbh but I recall being pretty close to exiting the game because I thought it was going to be trash. However, I'm super glad I kept playing and because after exploring for a while you start to discover more things and it really pulls you in. The puzzles were satisfying and among the more unique puzzles I've seen for a game such as this. There were many moments I was stuck, but I'd rather be stuck and scratching my head for an hour than breeze through a game. I played while Discord streaming this game to my friend for the whole playthrough over multiple nights and by the end we both were sad that it'd be over soon and would have to say goodbye to Cutish island.
Overall, It's great when a developer manages to combine good puzzles, exploration, atmosphere, aura of mystery, and story into one title. The UI/menu/quality of life experience needs some work if there's going to be a sequel but I really hope the developer keeps making puzzle games. I've followed the dev on Steam in hopes of a future title. I'm not sure about the sales figures for this title, but judging by how many reviews there are I'd say it hasn't sold nearly as many copies as it should have. If there's any advice I could give it would be to polish the overall presentation of the game, i.e. the store page, UI, Menu, fps, as well as fix any bugs. Puzzle games are a niche category so execution & presentation have to be on point.

Cutish is an enjoyable exploratory puzzle game. Played from a first person perspective, you find yourself on an island with a research facility. Your task is to figure out how to leave the island. Although the island is fairly small, there is quite a bit of facility (above and below ground) to explore.
Puzzles are a mix of mechanical exercises and figuring out codes to open gates and doors using environmental clues. I did not need to go to the internet for any answers because the one clue that depended on a cultural reference was something I was familiar with. Some of the mechanical puzzles took me quite some time but, ultimately, I was able to solve them all without too much frustration. Overall, it was a nice level of challenge... not too easy and not too hard.
This game is described as 'Myst-like' which almost detracts from the creativity of Cutish. It is like Myst only in terms of the genre (exploring an abandoned area, getting machinery to work, and finding patterns in the environment). The game is a solid adventure, in its own right, and is a great example of what a one-man development team can accomplish.
The game automatically saves on exit which I appreciated because I could quit playing at any time and not lose progress. It also has an automatic inventory 'use' which saves time. If you click on the environment and have the item in inventory, it is used without having to select it. At times, there were minor challenges with the interface but nothing significant that detracted from the game.
If you enjoy 'empty landscape' games that focus on exploration and puzzle solving, I would highly recommend Cutish. I like supporting small development teams and hope that Alain Dubus (aka Stigamax) will do more games in the future.
One caveat - the game has been updated several times since the original release. As a result, do not expect to go running to a walkthrough as it may not reflect the puzzles you are facing. Instead, keep exploring and get hints from the Steam discussion board, if absolutely necessary!

Cutish is a MYST clone where you crash land in the ocean very near a mysterious island. The game starts off with you on the beach of the island and your goal is to find a way to escape. Very simple and straight forward. However, getting off of the island is much easier said than done, because there are many obstacles in your way and it's up to you to figure out how the mechanics of this island works.
Pros:
Graphics are decent
Animations are decent
Simple Controls
Non-linear
Great deal of puzzles to solve
Several hours of game play (for the price)
Puzzles range from easy to very hard
All of the puzzles have logical solutions (*)
Cons:
Some of the clues were too vague
Decent amount of pixel hunting
Fair amount of walking back and forth
I would have to say that this game is one of the better MYST clones to come out in awhile. More than once, I sat staring at the screen wondering what is this and what do I do now? Actually, more than half of the puzzles in this game are like that. Some of them are real mind benders. It took me more than 10 hours to complete for an island that is not that big.
However, there are some puzzles that are repetitive. At least four of them are the same type of puzzle but with a different look, free the item you need by pressing buttons that will take an obstruction away but may affect another part of the puzzle where an obstruction is put in your way. However, I didn't mind it that much, it was still enjoyable.
The biggest complaint I have about this game is that some of the clues needed to solves the puzzles where so ambiguous that I had no idea what it was trying to convey. A couple of them I did figure out thinking, “It didn't need to be so cryptic” and the others (*) I had to look up on line because it was impossible to figure out, and even when I saw the answer I was dumbfounded wondering, “How in the hell did you come up with that?”
At the time of this review, Cutish was selling for $7.00. Let me say that again, $7.00. For a game that took me more than 10 hours to complete, that's a steal. If you like MYST type games with a real challenge then buy this game now, don't wait for a sale.
